  1. VAR is fine as long as the referee makes the final call on the pitch, not a "fifth" official sitting in front of a screen. The offside rule needs to be reviewed and if necessary changed. Personally I'm all for having no offside. Tactics would soon adapt.
  2. Partly that, partly his sudden U turn on relying on young, fast but hopelessly inexperienced kids and partly reverting to 4-4-2 from the disastrous 3-4-3. Once Ralph swallowed his stubborn beliefs about younger players and recalled Cedric, McCarthy, Bertrand and even Long things have been on the up.
  3. Neither Adams nor Djenepo made much of an impact today. Not really surprising in such a high intensity game they were only given a few minutes.
  4. Not just us though is it?
  5. Season of two halves. They might be looking quite ordinary by March.
  6. None went our way today so we are still stuck in 12th. Need to beat Wolves on Saturday and keep plugging away.
  7. Well done to every player. What a team we have, now second best in the PL on current form.
  8. From Build-up thread: "There is no reason for Ralph to change anything, we're buzzing along nicely. Keep the settled team and play our way. Bugger the 0-9, this will be a new day and a new game. The past is the past, stay focused on the present. Don't be surprised if we beat them 2-1" There you go chaps don't usually call it right but never say never aye?mI was not surprised at all, we should have scored five!
  9. Ralph's valuation of Danny Ings seems optimistic to me.
  10. All of what you say may be true and I hope you are right. There has been a change of leadership at the academy at all levels and the new coaches may see things quite differently to their predecessors, who let's face were not very successful in recruiting and nurturing young players to PL standards. There is also the need not to cause a log jam at the U23 level so players have to be moved on in one way or another after a season or two. Of course it is not easy for the club to make the right calls every time - who to keep or who to move on. I've watched Klarer quite a few times, he seems mostly solid and steady but makes mistakes and shows few signs of becoming a super star. Will he be any better than what we have here already remain a mute point?
  11. Loved Ralph's very thinly veiled criticism of senior management by re-affirming that how much every detail counts in the development of the club even the behind the scenes, details that irritate fans so much for example. In effect he was implying that some of the board members just aren't doing their jobs professionally enough. You get the impression that he values the importance of fans to the club far more than the bloody bean-counters who just see £ signs on seats in the stadium. Good for him! As fans 'though we really need to get our acts together at these forums. Forgetting what your own question is rather dismisses the whole process as a shambolic charade. Failing to prepare is preparing to fail! (Ralph) As for the "host", lose this waster and get Adam back.
  12. He said he wasn't going to sell Ings for £80m. That more or less marks the club's price for the player.
  13. There is no reason for Ralph to change anything, we're buzzing along nicely. Keep the settled team and play our way. Bugger the 0-9, this will be a new day and a new game. The past is the past, stay focused on the present. Don't be surprised if we beat them 2-1
  14. The turn over of young kids now is astonishing, these two lads are obviously our latest hotshots and of course their rise puts pressure on the lads still trying to get a place on the bench for the first team. Time is not on the side of the Sims, Ramsey, Slattery generation. Seemingly Klarer's loan to an Austrian team could be a one-way ticket to oblivion. Another lad full of promise who didn't make it here. What worries me about this new breed is their apparent lack of passion evident in the Olaigbe video when he was given hi first pro-contract, almost as 'though he expected to get it anyway wherever he was and that getting it at Saints has no special meaning for him. I guess if he becomes star he'll be off at the drop of a wallet. Maybe I'm being a bit harsh but that's the message I'm getting.
  15. He must be pretty p4ssed off by now. Ralph rarely starts him and when he is brought on it's usually only for 20 minutes or so towards the end when usually we have withdrawn into our defensive shell to survive the inevitable last 10 minutes blitzkrieg of the opposition. Doesn't really give the lad a chance. Still seems to me that having a big engine is all that matters to Ralph, finesse seems lost on him and so Armstrong gets the nod over Boufal for example. Mourinho commenting on our recent match against Spurs said that it was more like a fight than a football match and he called it about right, Ralph's team is like the big bad wolf, he'll huff and he'll puff until he knocks your house down.
  16. Ralph only wants machines it seems. Big engines and huge pistons that get up and down the pitch. JWP is a machine. Cedric is a machine. Hojberg is a machine
  17. We can always tie his bootlaces together.
  18. Hang on a minute, didn't we beat them out of sight last week or did I dream that?
  19. Hotels are already fully booked.
  20. As I recall, nobody thought we had a chance against Spurs in either match but lo and behold we won them both. I can still feel the excitement now. The only downer that season was our abject surrender at Cardiff when we just bottled it after Arsenal's early goal. As you are looking for coincidence, most of our Cup games en-route to the final were played at home
  21. OK so use a faster frame rate...
  22. One answer is to scrap off-sides and penalty kicks
  23. Thanks for the reminder. Tis entry amused me -with hindsight of course: Quote Originally Posted by saint**** View Post Yep totally. At least he got into dangerous positions despite the offsides and got a few goals. How crud can the Austrian League be? Would prefer to have Antonio to him, not that I think he is PL calibre either.
  24. Away side are entitled to 10% of the GC tickets available up to a maximum of 3000, so we should have been allocated 3000 as LFC's stadium is a carbon copy of ours at 32000 GC. Does the club take it upon itself to send back tickets without consulting fans? If they do then it is a monumental scandal and about time the away support got themselves organised with a spokes person to represent them during ticket allocation discussions.
