  1. That's what I would do.
  2. It seems to me that a European Super League is becoming more and more inevitable; in some respects it is surprising that it hasn't happened already. Of course the timing of this new proposal is terrible in the midst of the pandemic but the disarray and disruption caused by the C19 virus provides the perfect cover for the opportunists to promote them. Exploit uncertainty! At the root of it all is money and greed and it is no coincidence that US banks and financial institutions are deeply involved with US owned clubs to the forefront. The problem of course is not that English and other countries national leagues cannot survive if dominant rich clubs leave national leagues but it will be at crippling cost as TV revenues and big brand advertisers migrate to the new super league. So while it may appeal to the little Englander spirit in many of us to get back to more competitive national leagues, in reality it would likely be calamitous as clubs are reduced to existing on match day attendances and local advertisers for their revenues. This is a direct threat and challenge to the Premier League and they could find themselves being cast in the unlikely role of potential saviours of English football but if this proposal gains traction it seems there is little they can do to stop it. Football clubs are private enterprises and can do whatever they think is in their best interests. Perhaps the best the PL might expect to achieve is to link to and argue for promotion and relegation from top national leagues to the new super league to keep national football relevant.
  3. His star is beginning to wane
  4. Carlo Ancelotti has won 20 trophies in his career, he is a superb manager and would not have rolled up at Goodison Park if he could not have seen real potential to win more trophies there. It's not that he needs the money or the risk of damaging to his reputation on no-hopers. In the same way as Ralph Hasenhüttl has seemingly transformed Saints' fortunes in relative short order why should we not expect Everton players to respond and adapt to Ancelotti in the way that they have? Of course some of their players are the same 'dross' that we have seen before but then again so are half the Saints team. Forget what has gone before this is a new Everton and a totally different challenge for us. We are playing well (at times) and there is no reason why our "work in progress" team cannot go there and match their "work in progress" team and we have the advantage of being together longer. It will be a tough game and we need to be at our best for 95 minutes not 45 but we have home advantage in front of our own empty seats so 2-1 is on the cards if we turn up that is.
  5. It seems to be a regular scheduled Sky Sports match so should be £9.99 for a day pass if you don't have Sky
  6. Obafemi doesn't impress even at that level. I hope his career is not gong backwards. No excuse at all for what he did whatever the provocation. Hard to see why our goal was disallowed.
  7. Theo Walcott may not be able to play but his insider knowledge of Everton players and tactics must be of use to our coaching staff. Ralph may have a selection headache in midfield but no doubt will field the same starting XI as yesterday with Armstrong in for Theo. People have been too harsh on Jan Bednarek this weekend, they should remember that he played a lot of minutes for Poland during the break. He will be much better next weekend. The idea of recalling Stevens horrifies me.
  8. Presumably they factored in the arrival of Ralph Hasenhüttl as well.
  9. The trick will be to keep Theo's obvious enthusiasm and delight bubbling along which means giving him plenty of game time. Once he is fully fit and up to speed on Ralph's playing style it might be hard to leave him out of the starting line-up.
  10. Brilliant Lads. Made us proud today. Vestergaard MotM x 2
  11. All to play for. Bednarek needs a rest. Walcott all at sea at the moment, needs to stay wider and keep Chilwell busy. Still looks like 2-2 to me. Pity Ings doesn't get the service that Werner has. Romeu and Ward Prowse playing well. Adams looks to be the weather link, just isn't thinking quickly enough.
  12. The total rejection of Project Big Picture and this guy being a Yank might have something to do with the delay. It was Yanks that proposed it after all.
  13. I blame it on that stubbly beard. It doesn't work for him.
  14. The elephant in the room is Southgate. Compare him with Hasenhuttl for example.... Time for a change? Not Ralph of course!
  15. Maybe we've bought another bum steer?
  16. Armstrong has C19 so cannot possibly play. Assume Djenepo but may be Walcott. If Salisu is not on the bench are we seeing another Danso situation? 2-2 for this one.
  17. How does that work if you want to end up with 18 teams? Surely 4 would be relegated as two get auto promotion, so it's the 5th bottom who would join the playoffs of 3rd, 4th & 5th from the Championship
  18. Isn't it only until the ned of October. Presumably they will review after that.
  19. ...and you wouldn't have believed the vitriol on here towards this "useless player who wasn't fit to wear a Saints shirt"......
  20. So how many England International's are in our team now, I make it 6.
  21. Stick to your guns and ignore the pedants.
  22. Probably but he won't be eligible for the Everton match a week later
  23. 16th
