Early days for sure but Arteta doesn't seem be the right fit at all for Arsenal, just can't see him lasting beyond this season. It will be embarrassing if we don't beat them after Brighton's home success at the weekend.

You'll have to explain your new Avatar? Makes no sense to me at all. Where are you coming from?

Norwich 0 - Saints 3....We are back.
Charlie Wayman replied to Secret Site Agent's topic in The Saints
If you take into account that all clubs have had the same long break and the same time to prepare for this game, this was an outstanding performance by Saints bearing in mind that the other two matches played so far have been yawn-fest lifeless draws. Our players have been rejuvenated and re-motivated and one wonders if Ralph's new commitment to the club has been the catalyst. Many on here say that 'yes' BUT Norwich were a very poor side, which smacks a bit of the old chestnut that Saints only beat very poor sides! Nothing could be further from the truth last night as the opening 10 minutes or so showed, we were so slow out of the blocks that we could easily have been swamped. Once we settled, got a foot on the ball and started to dictate the pace of the game there was only ever going to be one outcome. Norwich were swept aside by a much better side with superior technical skills and team play and don't forget Norwich were a team fighting for its very survival so it was no easy task to dominate in the way we did on their patch. Ings, Armstrong and Redmond were outstanding and JWP seems to have made yet another step up in his all round game. Some of the link up play in attack was breath-taking. We looked a lot sharper in attack and much better at taking the chances that we created. Let's hope it becomes a habit and we start scoring for fun again. Valery & Obafemi deserve some criticism for their poor displays, there seem to be some lingering confidence issues with both. At times Valery was all at sea with his positioning and marking and Obafemi at times just seems to act like a headless chicken. The other lads need to have chat with him about looking up and around as he's running and not to be too selfish when he thinks he is in a good position to score himself. I was surprised that Ralph started him over Adams to be honest, this could have been the game to provide the goal that he so desperately needs. For the two minutes or so that Boufal was on his talent shone through like a beacon yet again and his mazy run nearly produced what would have been a stunning debut goal for Tella. I hope he stays, I fear he won't. -
Will they play behind closed doors again next season if restrictions on mass venues are not lifted because of fears of a second wave of infections? With the chaos engulfing Track & Trace and the illusive phone App can't see the government easing up on mass venues.

Even if the government allowed stadia to re-open in 2021 (say) would it be worth it for 2k fans only and remember no food or loos. Would anybody want to go there?

Just a guess but 4 rows (losing 3 / 4 rows) apart and 5 seats (losing 4 / 5 seats) comes out at about 1/20 of capacity or 1600

Good work Steve.

None of them look fit or even up for it. Half hearted effort all round. Grealish is a show pony that cannot be touched

On the nostalgia theme, I recall with amusement and amazement the early training camp where Poch made the players run over hot coals in their bare feet as part of mind training. Great video that, we should dig it our sometime. Even then it felt like we had the 'extra special' one here who would achieve great things.

Damned if they don't, now damned because they did. Not everything in life is a conspiracy. It is good that they have responded.

This is nonsense. There must be many clubs in exactly the same situation as Saints. Everyone will be cash strapped after this lockdown is all over in a couple of years time.
-
These are additional deaths. There will have been a high number of 'flu deaths as well this winter although we won't get any data on that until later in the year.

2 metres Footballers, and the rest of us mere mortals

Isn't it the case that you can test negative but still be a carrier? -
At least he wasn't slagging us off, seems to have enjoyed his time here. Nice mention of Morgan too. Those were really good days for fans. Sadly they have passed by far too quickly. One day we will have another great team as the wheel of fickle fortune keeps turning.

Good for him.

Lay off the sauce who you ae confined to barracks!

Surprised that a thread has not been started as so many ex-Saints seem to be involved, notably Matt le Tiss, Ruddick & Wright. ITV seems to have trawled the bottom of the ocean to come up with this load of embarrassing tripe. Over-aged, over-weight ex-England pros on a booze and curry binge journey through France & Germany presumably all expenses paid, occasionally playing football against teams of unknown local pensioners or nudists for what purpose exactly? That most of them were unfit, hadn't trained for years and ended up completely knackered or badly injured tells you all you need to know. This was more voyeurism than entertainment, utter garbage.

No fan of Nigel Pearson but he talked a lot of sense yesterday. Too soon to talk about PL football.

I believe Fonte over Reed any day of the week. Reed screwed everyone and everything.

The Sunday Times - Southampton put up for sale at £250m

We are a family club so no more smutty jokes! -
A superb post and thank you for it. Even with the lockdown we are losing over 600 people per day and not just we golden oldies. We lost just over 500,000 people during 6 years of WW2, military and civilian. Worth keeping that in mind when trivialising the effects of Covid-19

If there could be one thing worse than this Tory government handling the crises, it would be that somebody would take your comments seriously. It is not worth asking you for evidence to supports your absurd utterances.

You are being spitefully disingenuous, managers fit clubs simple as that; culture, ambitions, strategy all aspects have to fit. Koeman found his natural home here and it worked. Of course there were ups and downs but he built us into a formidable opponent for any team in the PL by the time he was forced out. Our current boss has had one hell of a switchback ride since he arrived, much worse than Koeman ever did.
