  1. We give a damn if they walk away?
  2. He looks the part, get him here.
  3. Dont forget the X factor, in this case Tonda X-ert. If people are comfortable in their surroundings it may be difficult for them to leave even by the temptation of more money and a 'bigger' club. Are there really that many better places to be than SFC right now, this group of coaches and players really seem to have developed a regimental camaraderie? Better the devil you know? Dragan's player valuations are maybe his polite way of saying FO to other clubs, while also creating the impression of not standing in a player's way? @ evertheoptimist.com
  4. Let's not find fault where none exists. Very few seem to take your view judged by the passion on the terraces for our Brazilian wunderkind.
  5. Yes, yes a thousand times "Yes"! it's time to give the Captaincy to THB, not that it is much of an incentive in the bigger scheme of things but he is a true heads-above-the-parapet leader that can galvanise the team. Jack Stephens just doesn't have the right genes; being a long serving employee and a thoroughly decent chap aren't good enough reasons for how a Captain should be chosen. We have to keep Jander for at least this season to help our drive to the `PL. If we succeed then the whole scene changes and we might finally stop being a selling club.
  6. That's the spirit boys, talk him down so that potential suitors are put off
  7. Overrated ny Rs! He is the only Saints player in recent history that gets people ontheir feet every time he touches the ball. He is genuine game changer and long may he reign here.
  8. i usually carry my kit to the gym in a Tesco bag but each to their own. Beats Gucci desgner gear every time He's one of us lads! Where Everything's Done Proper.
  9. One MLG is enough for this forum thank you, no disrespect to MLG intended. Look it up for yourself
  10. Hats off to the PR team for the latest training video in which everyone is depicted as being very much together and happy to be back, thereby doing their best to calm nerves about the feared mass exodus of our best players. Maybe there is substance to this harmony and we really are going to keep most. Very obvious exception was Shea Charles who was nowhere to be seen or deliberately left out. I know one swallow, a summer does not make but if only he (Charles) leaves we could be in a very good place indeed.
  11. I just wish they would get their FA fingers out and decide on the penalty. There's bound to be some sanction against Eckert so why the delay? Informed opinion suggests - based on percedent - he will get a touchline ban for six months leaving him free to coach during the week but uninvolved on match days. Probably that is manageable without a huge impact on performance. Of course if they are reallly vindictive they could ban him from football altogether. The longer this goes on the more one suspects they are working out what form of sanction will hit Eckert hardest.
  12. Red & white stripes are clearly part of his DNA now. Home is calling Jose.
  13. Of course not but there's no danger of that in JWP's case
  14. Stone me, even you want him in the midfield mix er!
  15. Easy & Cheap response, you can do much better than this
  16. Some people like hot weather some like it cold. Vive la difference! JWP is the classic journeyman in my book, sort of OK, good but not good enough, invisble when the going got tough. Remind me how many England caps he was awarded? Even Ricky Lambert managed that. !
  17. We don't need anybody at the moment until Charles decides where his future lies Chez: Not sure JWP can be described as a journeyman. Chat GTP: Competent, reliable and experienced but not considered exceptional or at the top of their field.
  18. Why are we even talking about yesterday's journeyman, why would the club saddle themselves with a huge salary bill for a bit part player who has failed in the PL at WHU and could never challenge Downes and Jander for a starting place. Bragg is the future, our Academy lad made good if we really need "one of our own" for PR
  19. In some ways the quieter the better, it may mean that few if any of our players are agitating to get away in which case the Club will be in a great position to bat away speculative enquiries for our better players. If we lose none then the impertaive to buy replacements is reduced and we can face the rest of the window in a far more relaxed frame of mind. Cool heads make much better decisions. Yes, we have to replace Stewart and quite possibly Charles although there doesn't seem to be much disquiet from the player about wanting out. Fingers crossed that a pin dropping will be the only ditressing noise that we have to face in the run up to our first match.
  20. No. We need to move away from soft centred sentimentality. Move on.
  21. He's not naughty, he's just misunderstood.
  22. AI bots do not think, they review all the available information about a topic and summarises it in the form requested. It does only what any one of us could do if we had access to the same information but a billion times faster.
  23. I know it's a joke and I will lead the chorus of "He's not wanted here!" On the other hand, there's a broader issue for older players on high salaries as we have seen with Sterling. These people may hold out for what they see as their worth in the marketplace but like all goods they are only worth what people will be prepared to pay for them. These days money for most is tight and so when the time comes to spend, it will be spent wisely. In terms of players likely considerations will be "Is the player a game changer?"; "Can we get 2/3 seasons out of him?"; "Can we sell him on in the market for a profit?" "What's his injury record, how reliable will he be?"; " How flexible is the player, or Is he too set in his ways to be coached into a different style of play?" In JWP's case, very few of those boxes can be ticked and his future will be bleak if WHU discard him. One suspects his future offers might come from lower Championship sides or abroad in tha US, Middle East or a lesser European league. I'm not sure that would suit him at all, he seems like a home boy to me. As far as we are concerned, the days of "one of our own" sentimentality are surely behind us after the debacles of Theo, Adam and Oriol. We don't need and won't make that mistake again
  24. Much too gloomy. He's a good player and will get a better club than you fear. Bournemouth might take him back and even Villa as a back-up
