  1. Shame. Got a feeling this might be one we live to regret. Didn't help himself with the sending off and transfer request.
  2. I personally think we have massive problems everywhere in defence. Goalkeepers - we dont even know who are preferred #1 is. I dont buy the "they're both equal" crap. If anything I don't think either are #1 premier league standard. I also dont see us addressing this in this transfer window as other areas are priority and we dont have the money to strengthen everywhere. Left Back - Simple, we dont have one. Hopefully this will be sorted soon with Perraud. Still need another back up. Right Back - KWP is the only defensive player of any note. Desperately need a back up and was criminal last year to send Valery out on loan. We were always a KWP injury away from disaster. Valery might not be PL material but he's better than sticking our CB's at RB. Centre Backs - Bloody hell, where do I start, there's no point sugar coating it, our defensive record last year was shit. However, we carried on with the undropable Bednarek & Vestergaard for the most part. Vestergaard gets away with a lot because of his height and the fact that he can spray 40-50 yard passes and granted a lot of our build up play starts with him. Problem is he cant defend. Bednarek for me is a back up CB at best at this level. Stephens the same, decent 3rd or 4th choice. He comes in out of the cold every now and again plays a blinder throws his body at everything etc but once given more than 2 or 3 games in a row the mistakes start creeping in and he becomes a liability. Salisu looks like he good be a good player given the chance. After sat on the bench the 2nd half of last season watching that dross he must be thinking he's got a chance. Feel like he needs an experienced head, an old school leader next to him. So basically, we need a total rehaul in defence but its not going to happen. Lets hope we move quicker and get some players in early doors and bed them in over pre-season rather than on deadline day and not ready for the first 2 months of the season I do fear next season, if we are not careful we could be in trouble. I'm not scaremongering but at the same time I dont think we can sit here and say we are miles better than many other teams. Lets hope the 3 that are coming up are well off the pace.
  3. Everton haven't had a great record of keeping players when bigger clubs have come calling; Lukaku, Stones, Barkley, Fellaini, Gueye, going further back Rooney. There's an element of selling club about most teams other than top few clubs.
  4. Armstrong just ahead of KWP for me
  5. Surely has to start v Fulham. We keep hearing from the club how good he's going to be but then don't play him. Its not like Bednarek & Vestergaard are that great. I sometimes think Vestergaard gets away with it because people see his "Hollywood" diagonol passes and the fact that he's 6'6". If I was Salisu I'd be sat on the bench wondering what the hell i'm doing here
  6. I said exactly the same to my son watching the game last night that Armstrong was my player of the season just ahead of KWP.
  7. Now we are mathematically safe I would like to see Salisu start and Jankewitz given a couple of games to prove himself. Not sure there are many more knocking on the door. Maybe give Obafemi a bit more game time.
  8. I'd like to see Jankewitz & Salisu given a start. I can see Ings rested with Adams coming in. Minamino for Redmond or even Tella.
  9. You've hit the nail on the head Lallana's Left Peg. This team needs wholesale changes. Realistically we need 6 or 7 decent additions but we can't afford it. Two or three players in the £10m bracket will be more of the same. Two things that have kept us going in the past is our academy and selling a star player sometimes even an academy player every now and again for £30m plus. The academy seems to have dried up. None of the youngsters given a chance during the injury crisis looked good enough to break in to the starting 11. Do we have any players who would demand a massive fee? Even Ings with his contract situation wouldn't fetch that much. Unfortunately without investment I think we could be facing an uncomfortable season next year.
  10. Why is Bednarek so undropable? If I was Salisu I would be wondering what the fuck I'm doing here if I can't get into this team
  11. This is poor to be fair
  12. I take it we don't have a recall option on Valery? I'd personally go with Ramsey our CB's struggle at CB let alone moving to RB
  13. I would put both Forster and McCarthy in the 'good' bracket but neither are 'great' granted they have great days but not consistently. I would hope we are exploring options for summer transfer window. In the meantime give Fraser a go.
  14. Forster has to be given a go. Salisu needs to start. Redmond is not a striker.
  15. I don't normally single out individual players however; McCarthy is solid but not a spectacular #1 - we could do/need better Stephens ok as a back up but not for a run of games - I hope Salisu turns out to be what the club hope Redmond had his day. Crossing is abysmal. Ings needs to make his mind up on whether he is going to sign a new contract or not hasnt seemed the same player in last few months Today again was another sign that loaning Valery out is just mind boggling
  16. Why do we play so f***ing slow going forward. At the start of the season we were exciting to watch now when we go forward everything is laboured. Say what you want about the 9-0 but Newcastle showed us today that even by going down to 10 & then 9 with the injury it doesn't mean you have to cave in. We need to bring some intensity when going forward and stop giving away stupid goals like the 3rd today.
  17. Dermot Gallagher on Sky Sports News Ref Watch has said it wasnt a penalty in his opinion Martial initiated contact by dragging his leg into Bednarek. Bet the FA don't overturn it tho.
  18. Ainsley Maitland-Niles. Do the club sell names on the back of shirts by per letter? Is the cub trying to recoup some lost funds by trying to have as many double-barreled names as possible 😂 Joking apart I think he would be a good signing.
  19. Shame I thought big things were expected of Robise. Obviously been hampered by injuries and by the sounds of things not found that potential he was showing before the injuries.
  20. Bloody hell there's a bit of an over reaction to Theo coming home!! I've seen not a lot from the likes of Obafemi, Tella, Sims etc to say they are either ready or good enough yet. Theo will score more than Long. I for one am happy with this signing it may kick start his career coming back home. He's 31 not 37!! Reminds me of all the negativity around signing the injury prone Danny Ings...
  21. I wonder if the Premier League decision to cancel the TV deal with China will also make Gao think about selling up.
  22. Haven't we bought Matt Crocker back to do that role?
  23. Well not like Saints to be used as a stepping stone to CL clubs. We can supply regular prem football for a couple of years before a big move.......
  24. If the season is null and void and wiped from the history books, not only do Liverpool's wait for a title go on, the 9-0 defeat to Leicester never happened and Portsmouth miss out on their trip to Wembley......
  25. Received my son's shirt through the post. Not impressed in the slightest. Ordered YXL as this was the size of last season's that still fits nicely. This season's YXL is considerably smaller. My son is a tall for his age but the next size up is a men's at another £13. The shirt also had a reddish/pink stain on the white stripe and a big stain all around the logo on the inside of the shirt. The logo itself was mucky. Expect more from Saints and for £42!!
