Agreed. Not who I would have chosen at the time we sacked Ralph but exactly what we need now. Enough nous to winkle a few points out here and there and use the remaining time in the transfer window to bring in a couple of shithouses to give the side a bit of backbone.

This useless prick has to go. Yes players are also at fault but a huge mistake has been made in hiring him and this needs to be recognised.
-
This clown has surely got the be in danger of getting sacked if we lose tonight?

The bright lights of Winchester. The endless possibilities of a Joules, Fat Face, Hobbs and Mint Velvet. I think theres even a Crew Clothing just around the corner. They'll be like pigs in shit, the lucky buggers.

Good to see. You don't really see the club engaging a great deal with players from times gone by. Its a shame as there are probably some quite interesting stories to tell.

Because form aside, he is a committed, hard working professional who conducts himself well at all times and has narrowly missed out on making an England squad at a major tournament for the 2nd time in 3 years. For a player who has spent his entire career at Southampton thus far, it would have been the high point of his career. Unfortunately for him, his form has deserted him at the worst possible time. It happens and I sympathise.

Feel sorry for JWP but probably is the right decision. He must be a manager’s dream for dropping from the squad on the eve of a big tournament. That’ll be him off for sure in the summer I reckon.
-
This will be an absolute pasting.

Technically I guess you could say that but we aren’t particularly close. He’s on loan at Yeovil now following Parker’s sacking which is a bit of a shame.

Stop persevering with the ridiculous notion that Salisu is some sort of long throw expert. It pulls him out of position and they barely reach the 18 yard box anyway.

We appear to have bought ourselves a Rolls-Royce…

Bevan who came on for Bournemouth in 74th min is an Eastleigh boy. Made his first team debut tonight. He’s my step mothers grandson. His brother won a commonwealth silver medal in boxing a couple of weeks ago too!
-
Technically they are investing in their academy by signing him aren’t they? Good luck to the lad. There is no loyalty in football. He owes us nothing and is taking advantage of a great offer. We would all do the same.
-
It hasn’t.

Signed the same season Duncan Spedding broke into the first team squad didn't he?

19. Good one....

Best wishes to your Dad. Careful publicising his charity event on here though... You'll get all sorts of melts pressuring you to cancel it once they find out MLT is involved.

My nephew had a couple of games for Chelsea years ago before he chose Saints. Their squad was massive and was rotated so most kids only played a quarter each. This was one of the reasons he chose Saints, other than being a big Saints fan of course. A massive squad, full of kids from all over Europe. If you think they have Hampshire all sewn up for scouting, its pretty much the same all over Europe!

Any streams that aren't going to give my computer incurable AIDS?

I’d be more than happy for them to replace Forest in the draw.

Everton v Liverpool Chelsea v Man City Forest v Palace Saints v Boro Is the ideal draw.

It would be great if that turns out to be the case but I'm sceptical that Saints will be prepared to turn down serious money for one of these players just because they happen to have already sold a player or two in that window. I think what is more likely is they'll take that money and back themselves to re-invest it, use the sales as 'success stories/case studies' for other young, promising players and start the cycle again. Basically every time we get within touching distance of closing the gap to the big boys like under Koeman, we'll get dismantled and have to start over.
-
The trouble with this is, a few years ago under Koeman we were pretty much seen as THE place to go as the stepping stone to one of the big clubs. The likes of van Dijk, Lovren, Mane, Wanyama, Morgan, even Toby knew that we played a good brand of football that would put them in the shop window. The trouble is, fans, and I include myself in this, became dismayed at always letting these players go so the club bowed to pressure from the fans and instead signed players up to long-term contracts like Forster and made life difficult when it came to time to leave. This resulted in a bloated squad and a much smaller talent pool to choose from as players no longer saw us as a club that wouldn't stand in their way once they earned their big move. The strategy now has been clearly laid out. We give players at clubs like Chelsea and Man City the platform to build a career away from those clubs where realistically they'll never break through. Unfortunately to continue benefiting from this approach I think it is important that we do have to be as transparent as possible with our approach. It's not nice to hear and I hope they don't continually go on about it at every opportunity but it is pretty much our one and only USP that makes us an attractive destination to the best young players around that are at the stage in their career where they need meaningful games and a platform to perform.

If you can include Jay Rod then you should be able to include Mane. Both played similar positions.

I understand why some have an issue but that is just the unfortunate circumstances we find ourselves in. The PL agreed to the postponement, they can't now just change the rules on account of their takeover giving them increased spending power. Where is the line in the sand if that happens? Man City prior to their takeover was always a very winnable game. Do we retrospectively null-and-void all their wins against us since Mansour bought them on account of all the money they have spent and the fact they wouldn't have been able to spend it without the takeover happening?! Nobody seems unduly worried about Brentford going out and signing a load more players before the re-arranged fixture.
