I hate the way so many fans take delight in the plight of a club like Newcastle. A lot of people seem to profess that all Newcastle fans think they have a divine right to be in the Premier League. Not true. They have excellent, humble support at home and away who love the club and support them no matter how drab their performances. Yes, their average home attendance has dropped this season to about 48,000 but thats still a hell of a large gate for a team serving up such poor performances. That club is rotton to the core and getting relegated this season is possibly the best thing that could happen to them. It's not their fault they were willing and have the means to pay their players handsomely, but a string of poor managers and poor decisions had seen them with a squad comprised by about 7 managers all with different ideas on personel and how the team should play. I honestly think they will walk the Championship next season. They will rid themselves of dead wood and mercenaries like Owen, Duff, Coloccini, Viduka etc... and be left with some decent young players, good experienced players and enough money to buy some players who will play for the club with pride, which is what they dont have enough of at the moment.

Alps would be Widow T****y.

I have been saying for a while I spoke to a client recently who said he was mates with Souness. He confirmed Souness is moving back down to Hampshire but wouldnt tell me if it was anything to do with Saints. Just said he's got a few business interests in the area.

I'm not mad at all. He got Newcastle playing well towards the end of last season and got a good result against Man Utd and Bolton this season before he left. He also wouldnt come unless there was money to spend as well, which is why I think it would be amazing. There are still a multitude of players out there who would want to play for him and his record of promotion is second to none.

I'd personally rather have Wotte than Cotterill. Tisdale could be a decent shout, young coach bit of history with Saints. Keegan would be amazing. It would not only galvanise the club as he would play football the way it should be played and motivate the players, but it would also mean to club has a fair amount of cash to spend in the transfer market as he wouldnt join otherwise, so I doubt very much it will be him. Graeme Souness is moving back down to Hampshire, but I think it is more for personal business reasons rather than Soouthampton Football Club. Hopefully Keegan, I'd settle for Tisdale but I think we should be careful in replcaing Wotte for just anybody. I think he is a decent coach and could potentially do a decent job if we have the means to back him a little bit in the transfer market.

I like the song. Although to me, it does have an air of things coming to an end rather than inspiring hope and unity amongst fans. I like the lyric about Chapel End though as it sounds like a place rather than a stand which makes in inclusive to a wider audience than just Saints fans.

He's been offered loads of different roles but its never offered any more money than he gets with Sky Sports for minimal work so he has never bothered. Cant say I blame him.

Reading have done no better in their years at the Madjeski than we have. 2 seasons in the Premier League followed by 2 seasons in the Championship, with a play-off appearance. We managed 2 or 3 seasons in the Premier League at SMS, with European football and an FA Cup final appearance plus 3 seasons in the Championship with 1 play-off appearance. Dont get me wrong, I'd rather be in Reading's boots now but they havent exactly achieved anything more than us. I've been to the Madjeski a few times, decent enough stadium it is but give me SMS any time.

I usually agree with a lot of your posts Wes, but a lot of the things Rupert Lowe wanted in this "complex" was facilities for fans to drink at. At the moment, I can think of one pub in Stoneham, which wouldnt be anywhere near enough to accomodate all the fans, plus travel to Stoneham would have had to be massively revised. As it is, we have a stadium that was very much 2nd choice but only 2nd choice if we could have got Stoneham with all the trimmings, which we didnt get. We now have a stadium within close proximity to our city centre which made a lot more sense logistically.

Without wanting in anyway to appear ITK, I was chatting with a client of mine last week who is very close friends with Graeme Souness (I found out as we were actually talking about Newcastle United and I said it's all gone wrong with them since they sacked Bobby Robson and replaced him with Souness). Anyway, when I found out I asked if he knew if there was any legs in rumours linking him with a takeover of Southampton. He said he didnt know about that but he is actually in the process of moving back to Hampshire. I'm aware he owns a wine company in Southampton as his business partner is my mates next door neighbour in Hiltingbury. Apparently he also owns a steel company down here as well which my client reckoned was behind the reason for moving down. DIdnt think of mentioning at the time but might tie in with this rumour if so.

lol. Post of the day without a doubt. Very good.

I'm not one to grumble as the lineup does look strong but I also recommended my mates band The Reason who have headlined at venues up and down the country including the Cavern Club in Liverpool and havent heard anything about them being on the bill and I reckon they are better than the majority of bands already on the bill.

I'd love to see MLT with these new-fangled all-singing, all-dancing balls. I'd go for MLT every time just because of his quirkiness. Looking at him, he should never have been a professional football but was blessed with sublime natural skill. When looking at Ronaldo, he is a proper athlete and looks like he belongs on a football field... which is boring.

My Uncle Scott used to play drums or Perfect Alibi. They are a very good band.

Amy was my number 1...

What about Longview? I used to go to Thornden with the lead singers sister Anna, whom I believe is going out with Danny McNamara from Embrace. Not sure if they still do but theres a couple of bands with local links.

Am I right in thinking, if Eastleigh get past Yeading, we are in the final which is played at Wembley?
-
I dont know about you but I would happily do it!

I think he will stay. He loves the area and doesnt want to leave. Hopefully there will be news breaking soon about the future of the club which means his future will be resolved also.

We have turned into a club that has a lot of fans with chips on their shoulder and a big-club delusion complex. As a result, when things dont go our way, we have a large proportion of knuckle draggers that like to start trouble with the away fans. Which is funny because by and large, away from home we are a well behaved club generally and in my experience only kick off when provoked.

Shearer will commit with Newcastle whether they stay up or go down in my opinion. If this is to be a sign of the new owners ambition though, I am in favour of it.
