  1. Great news! I live about a 20 minute walk away from Loftus Road!
  2. I totally agree with where Tony is coming from. My brother in law and I were saying the exact same thing. The football league appear scared that if we have enough money to buy us a decent lawyer, he would be likely to rip their decision to pieces and get the points issue overturned. Good luck with everything Tony, you win my respect for keeping us all in the loop fairly regularly.
  3. Who gives a flying f*ck whether he has walked away before? Some might say its a good thing. He knows when to jump and doesnt prolong things, forcing his club into paying him large amounts in serverance etc... The fact is he has a record of promoting every club he has managed. This isnt a coincidence. Yes he's been backed in the transfer marker wherever he has been (bar the brief stint at Newcastle, which was the main reason he left) but justifiably so. If he gets us promoted twice on the bounce and we find ourselves in the Premier League and then he walks away, quite frankly we'll be in a much better position to attract a manager of higher calibre than we are now. Ince is a ***t of the highest order. Yes, his track record in the lower leagues is decent enough but the majority of fans just wouldnt get behind him as he is a to$$er. Tisdale is a massive gamble. He's been given a decent amount of time and little pressure or expectation has been put on him. It would be a different kettle of fish with us and who's to say if he'd be able to handle it? I think there are a lot of worse options than Tisdale about but Keegan certainly doesnt fall into that list. Call me old fashioned, but I am really excited about the prospect of having a side intent on outscoring the opposition and watching a side that thrives on the motivation KK gives. It's been a very long while since we have seen a team full of players that will run through brick walls for the manager. Since 2003 to be precise.
  4. If this goes through it signals so much more than just a new manager. It means we get possibly the best motivator thats available, a man with a a history of winning promotion with every club he has managed, a man who gets his teams playing positive, attacking football and perhaps most importantly a man who players want to play for. It would also mean Pinnacle have some serious money behind them. Perhaps not of Man City of Chelsea proportions but enough for Keegan to feel comfortable he can do a job. Could this be the first day of a new era of Southampton Football Club???
  5. Loved the video without the commentary, brought back memories of being there. I was there two witness 7 of those goals in the flesh... Be interesting to see if there is anyone who can genuinely claim the full house!
  6. Good going forward, very dodgy in defence. For £17m the skates whould be laughing their way to the bank...
  7. You probably want to re-tract that statement. Considering he had little or no control over Newcastle's signings the 2nd time around, the first time around the majority of his signings were pretty inspired to be honest. Phillipe Albert, Pavel Srnicek, Rob Lee, Les Ferdinand, Andy Cole, Alan Shearer, Peter Beardsley, Keith Gillespie, David Ginola, David Batty... the list does go on if I was to start thinking about it. In my opinion, that displays a pretty damn good eye for a player. With regard to staying long, what manager in the past 5 years or so has? I'd rather have a couple of years with someone like Keegan who has the ability to galvanise the club and city, excellent track record with promotions, motivate the squad and attract even better players for a couple of seasons and see where we ended up than 5+ years of mediocrity under someone totally uninspiring like Steve Cotterill.
  8. Wotton may not have every been a massive earner but I'm pretty sure he would have been drawing a wage of more than £3k a week throughout the 10 years he has been playing regular first team football. That equates to over £1.5m earnt in his career, lets take half a million off, thats still £1m in career earnings. I am sure he is in a much more comfortable position to miss one or two paycheques than the non-playing staff at St Mary's. One of which is a good friend of mine in corporate sales who has recently bought a house with a friend, only for his friend to bale on him leaving him no option to buy out his half of the property. That is what he should have been focussing on. All the employees at the club drawing salarys between 14k-30k per annum, still with mouths to feed. I dont begrudge him the money, if I was offered similar amounts I would gladly take it but an ounce of perspective really should have been used before he started commenting on worrying about not getting paid for a month in which he didnt have to work anyway as it was the close season.
  9. In my opinion what Wotton was saying was nothing short of disgraceful. Saying how he was worrying about things as he's got kids to pay for. What about the guys that work in the club shop or in catering etc.. Does he not think they have kids to pay for on a salary considerably less than him? He's been a professional footballer for around 10 years no doubt drawing a healthy salary. Would have been nice for him given his age and experience to give the non-playing staff of SFC a mention before himself.
  10. I'd love it if we can afford Rasiak for the season. He's lazy, doesnt work that hard, is getting old and demands a high wage but the bloke knows where the goal is. I'm pretty sure in League 1 he would bang them in, given a modicum of service.

    Ronaldo

Just had a debate about this in the office. I think its pretty obvious Fergie would want to keep hold of him but I'm sure he would rather have £80m to spend than a sulky little sh!t not putting in a proper shift and having an adverse effect on the rest of the team. Ferguson is no mug. He will simply change the way the team plays now. Probably sign Ribery, couple of wingers and another poacher of the van Nistelrooy ilk. I still expect them to be the team to beat in the Prem next season.
  12. So you dont think the new board would be sounding out potential new managers? I'm not saying I believe what I heard earlier about Strachan but I would feel fairly confident whoever is about to take the club over would have a few ideas on who will be taking charge of team affairs. Even Wotte accepts his job is in jeopardy. If he acknowledges this himself, I am sure the people looking to take over the club would be looking at alternatives also.
  13. That'll teach me to proof read posts in the future.... oops.
  14. Anyone know if Radio Hampshire are still based at St Mary's? I've just spoke to a friend of mine who I know is good friends with Will Cope. Apparently someone from within the radio station who he is friends with (you would know who they were if I told you but probably a bit unfair to say) has told him that Gordon Strachan has been at the stadium today and he called me straight away to tell me. My friend has a history of stretching the truth but never really with footballing matters, usually white lies about how fit a girl he has pulled is or telling me he has caught a 20lb carp when in reality its about 7lb. I do however know he is good mates with this person in question and as far as I know, the person at the radio station would have no reason to lie. He also suggested the person behind Pinnacle could be Rod Stewart. I dont know how to guage this one but would be interesting to hear if anyone else hears anything of Mr Strachan being seen at the stadium. Dont shoot me and dont shoot my mate. I'm not ITK, just relaying something that was told to my mate by a friend of his that works in the stadium.
  15. No offence but I think the badge is shocking. Far too much going on in it. If the badge were to be re-designed, I would feel very confident it would be minimalist in its appearance and in my opinion would look much better for it.
  16. Not a bad player but not irreplacable either. I dont think we'd miss him too much. Might give Lallana the opportunity to play behind the front two instead of on the wing which is his natural position and would probably also be enough to get Jan Paul Saiejs and have a bit of change as well.
  17. Rather put the money towards signing JP Saeijs.
  18. Dyer can jog on, I dont care. McGlaggon looks a very similar type of player with just the same attributes and I wouldnt want them both in my team. Dyer is older, had developed less than we all expected and is on a good deal more money. If Dyer wants out, I say let him. Decent enough player but if he doesnt want to be a part of a new chapter is SFC's storied history then we shouldnt let him.
  19. Sincerely hope so... its my birthday!!!
  20. Good on Kelvin. "I'm a Saints player through and through". He wants to stay here, I hope we can now reward his loyalty with a contract for next season and hopefully one or two players to play in front of him who are worthy of having him as a goalkeeper. Happy news and most definately cause for celebration this evening.
  21. Lets go farkin' Emmental, Lets go farkin' Emmental, tra la la la, tra la la la.
  22. Tommy Larsen is a real player. Plays for Stabaek in Norway and is a Norway international. His actualy name is Tommy Svindal Larsen.
  23. I think McGlaggon looks better at his age than Nathan Dyer did at the same age anyway. Similar amounts of pace as well. Good luck Nathan, hope you tear it up next season and get yourself a £15m transfer to one of the big boys next summer with us getting a hefty lump from the sell-on clause!
  24. My girlfriend has predicted 1-1 after 90 mins, Ronaldo first goal. Barcelona to win on pens. She has no interest in football but her predictions have come good quite a few times this season.
  25. Well I am sure I could tear apart the grammar of the majority or users on this forum on every thread and I'm sure they could do the same for me. I can just see a lot of people interested in reading this thread and it can become very annoying when having to read 3 pages of nonsense about spelling, grammar and punctuation in order to do so. Sadly not everyone is in the position where they can spend all day on this website keeping abreast of each and every interesting post, so to have to sift through them amongst whats on this thread can be a tad annoying. This is what TMS is for.
