I'm assuming you mean Harper. He is without any shadow of doubt better than Paul Robinson, Carson, Foster, Kirkland and Green. I think he's better than James also. It doesnt matter what level you are playing at, you still need to make saves and communicate with your defenders and he is probably making more saves per match than anyone thats been tried so far. I'd also wager he's kept more clean sheets as well. Lets face it, he's been living in the shadow of one of the best goalkeepers the modern game has ever seen until about a year ago but he is a class act and now he has the number 1 jersey at Newcastle he has proved himself as a top, top draw goalkeeper.

Probably the best thread for this rather than the one in the lounge... GK - Steve Harper (how he's not had a cap is beyond me, he is Englands best 'keeper bar none at the moment) GK - David James GK - Rob Green (best of a very bad bunch from Carson, Foster, Kirkland, Robinson etc..) RB - Glen Johnson RB - Wes Brown CB - Rio Ferdinand CB - John Terry CB - Matthew Upson CB - Joleon Lescott LB - Ashley Cole LB - Wayne Bridge MR - Aaron Lennon MR - David Beckham CM - Steven Gerrard CM - Frank Lampard CM - Gareth Barry LM - Joe Cole LM - James Milner ST - Wayne Rooney ST - Jermaine Defoe ST - Peter Crouch ST - Theo Walcott ST - Emile Heskey Standby - Paul Robinson, Phil Jagielka, Michael Carrick, Ashley Young, Michael Owen

Think it would be interesting to do this again a few months after I did it originally... Saints V Wycombe Wanderers - First half and half-time chat.

Isnt the lad presenting Sky Sports News tonight a Saints fan? Nice one Rickie. -
The first could be Kelv. Maybe he played once for Wimbledon and Ipswich before playing in the Prem for Sunderland. I'd say after we beat Burley away last season.

Can anyone confirm if Hammond has got the armband tonight??

Could do a lot worse than getting Hart in to head up our academy. As for their manager I really couldnt care less. Their hands are going to be tied whoever it is. Part of me hopes its not Darren Ferguson because a position like this could ruin him forever and he showed a lot of promise.

South World Cup bid 2018 Portsmouth City turn it down.
sambosa75 replied to derry's topic in General Sports
Presumably this would mean actually hosting some games as well? In that case we are in by far the strongest position of all the southern club outside London. Instead of actually having to build a stadium anywhere else, all we require is an extra 8,000-10,000 seats to become eligible. I seem to remember reading after the fans forum Cortese saying the minute Pompey pull out we'll be ready to step in. Wouldnt it be great so see some World Cup games at St Marys? As for not winning the bid, I think we have as good a chance as any. If its in Europe, it will be us I think. -
Mardle was once in the Halfway Inn in Chandlers Ford and had a few games with my Grandad, my Dad and his mates. My Grandad beat him in a best of 5 legs and my old man took a leg off him in a 1-2 loss. Top bloke apparently. Dont know if he was using it as an excuse for losing a match and dropping another couple of legs but he said it takes him a couple of hours practise "to get his eye in" before he feels comfortable competing. Always wondered whether that was the norm with Pro's like Barney and Taylor or if they can just go out and turn it on.

I cant believe I just watched that. I am totally enraged at the thought that someone could do that. I dont always believe in an eye for an eye but I would happily drop that piece of scum off the bridge. That has actually really affected my mood now. I'm fuming.

"Hulk Hogan" comes off worse in brawl
sambosa75 replied to Saint in Paradise's topic in General Sports
Pretty sure thats one of the Nasty Boys helping him as well... That tour looks quality! Any word whether Jake the Snake, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Macho Man Randy Savage, Legion of Doom etc... are there as well?! -
I think its a bit unfair to say Mayweather is going to duck the Pacquiao challenge. Bearing in mind that when PBF "retired" after the Hatton fight, Pac was in a different weight class and it wasnt really a fight either boxer had on their radar. It most certainly is now. It's the only match each of them can take now, and what a fight it will be!

For those of you in London unable to get down for a mid-week game, I'll be watching in the Famous 3 Kings pub in West Kensington. It is literally next door when you come out the tube station exit and always gets a few Saints fans in. It'll no doubt be on the big screen.

He's compiled a cracking squad of players there. Joe Lewis, Boyd, Mackail-Smith, McLean all good players that good do a job at a top Championship club/lower end Prem club. Good, young manager from lets face it, excellent stock who has gone about his business without having to call upon "Daddy" for bundles of loan signings etc... Who on earth is possibly going to want that job that is more capable than Darren Ferguson?
-
Peter Beardsley, Teddy Sheringham, Wayne Rooney... Just tell him there is a lot more to football than scoring all the goals. Technically it is easier to put a chance away that is put on a plate for you than to set them up. Get him to hit a ball in an open goal from 6 yards out and then get him to dribble the ball through a few cones and then cross the ball for you to tap it in from a couple of yards out and ask him which one requires the most skill. Before you know it, he'll be the star of the show again...

I'm watching a pretty good stream but its in German. If someone finds a good one in English please let me know. http://www.ustream.tv/channel-popup/tes52

I like playing the guitar but I have fat sausage fingers so my fingers always press on other strings as well as the strings I went to press on. Can you get a guitar with wide fret board to account for fat, stumpy fingers?

I really hope they dont go out of business. I just hope to see them slip further and further in to obscurity after years of lauding it up, living well beyond their means and rubbing it in our faces. Meanwhile, it is quite likely that with Liebherr's money, Pardew's expertise and Cortese's leadership our club will flourish and once again establish ourselves as the South Coast's number 1 club in every single way possible.

He was at Staplewood during the international break. I was there watching the under 18's beat Chelsea 4-3 and Surman rocked up with his young daughter. Fair play to him.
-
He's rich, He's old, His countrys fookin' cold Liebherr, Liebherr... But I dont think its a good idea singing songs about the owners of the club.

Permanent deal already signed and sealed. Deal was agreed after the deadline, so had to go on loan as opposed to announcing a permanent deal. HTH, smug bar steward. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/middlesbrough/8257190.stm

St Ledger was sold on deadline day, Trotman was loaned before that deal. I think the St Ledger deal was too good for them to turn down. Trotmans rated by all at PNE, I think their manager wanted him to get some experience under his belt.
