Why the plural? I can only see one sign.

So if you had a Porsche, you'd trade it in for a Volvo? I think it means, if we can't replace a player in our team with a better one, we won't.
-
Great signing. Could he be the missing link in defence? I know he's played midfield for Burnley but apparently Chelsea regard him first and foremost as a defender.

I had that very argument with a mate a few days ago about Barnard and Connolly. Don't get me wrong, I rate both but it does seem that their goals are always the "cherry on the cake" rather than scoring at 0-0 or 1-1. I know there are a few exceptions to this rule but it seems to be the case a lot of the time.

Probably the most technically gifted player I have ever seen that has played their entire career outside the top 2 tiers. Great news, must mean Adkins is a fan and with his backing and a good pre-season behind him, next season could well be a very good season for him. I haven't felt as confident as I do now when we get a penalty since I did when MLT was playing.

Great signing if true. Would own the free kicks from the right side with that left peg of his. Left back not exactly the first area that needs strengthening though.

Just stay up around Bedford Place, you'll be fine.

I'm quite aware he played for Norwich thank you. So he was versatile in what sense of the word? He did well for Norwich but despite whatever you say he made his name at Blackburn playing alongside Alan Shearer. You also mention he played for England but forgot to mention he was a million miles behind the likes of Shearer, Sheringham, Ferdinand, Fowler and Ian Wright. Blackburn mugged Chelsea of £10m for him and he proved himself to be useless there. Perhaps a passable Premier League striker in his prome but nowhere near the best.

No doubt Haye is a great cruiserweight. I'm not disputing that. That said, it's a pretty poor division too with most fighters preferring the more competitive light heavyweight and super middleweight divisions or having a crack at the Klitschko's in the HW division. Wlad is a good fighter. Yes, his opponents have mainly been useless but he still has class and a good punch on him. It's fair to say Wlad wont have been in a ring before with someone as quick as Haye but I think it's pretty safe to assume Haye has never been in with someone who punches like Wlad. It will be an interesting fight but it's not a foregone conclusion.

I tend to play off a tee when driving and off whatever I land on following my drive. Usually this is sand, rough or water. The last course I played was in Fareham, quite night course but I walked off after 2 holes. Nothing but admiration for good players. It's so difficult to be good enough to play it properly, I don't get how people persevere.

Yes!!! Best night out in Southampton. Quad-Vod for £2. Can't say fairer.

Hi all, Off to Nottingham this weekend. Anyone know what its like for a night out? I remember hearing the old chestnut about there being 4 girls to every bloke but I don't believe that for a second. I've heard it gets a bit punchy. Anyone advise on places to go, places to avoid and all that jazz? Will be wanting to watch the Haye fight as well so somewhere likely to be showing that would be good too. Cheers!

Soul Cellar plays all that. Bit of a ****hole but a good night.

157,000,000 EUR FFS. If that isn't new worthy I dont know what is. A clear sign of intent from the club.

You rated Chris Sutton? Pretty sure that says more about you than me. He was horse $hit, happened to play up front with Shearer in his best, most destructive years. That would have made any strike partner look half decent. The same way Sergei Rebrov looked good for Dynamo Kiev all those years ago when Shevchenko was running riot.
-
Not running from anyone but happy to take fights with Audley Harrison and John Ruiz. Haye has a lot more to prove than Klitschko does.

Go! Team - please. Famous because of their videos. Music is ****e. Not a massive fan of Coldplay but anyone who argues their performance was trumped by anything else on the Pyramid this year is just simply wrong. Viva La Vida was awe inspiring.

Sharp, Maynard, CMS - who would be best for saints?

Maynard without a shadow of a doubt. He's the quickest of all three and his all round game is the best. -
Biggest Flop Signing & Low Expectation That Came Good
sambosa75 replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
I think Delgado surely has to win the biggest flop awards. Great goals record in South America and at international level but just never wanted to be here. Never forget him tearing Arsenal a new one once though. He obviously had talent and was actually a nice guy. I speak a bit of Spanish and spent a few hours once in Ikon with him, helping him chat up birds. Biggest low expectation/come good probably split between Chris Marsden and Kevin Richardson who I thought was exactly what the team needed. Marsden wins it though because he was superb for 3 seasons. -
It's all about Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai. For me, Jiu Jitsu has the edge.

Great signing if true. Would rather Maynard but given they signed him for over £2.2m a couple of years ago and his stock has only risen since then, this is a more realistic option. I seem to remember Billy being quite "sharp". Perhaps not electrifying pace but busy enough. He's scored plenty of goals in pretty average sides as well. Hopefully with the likes of Lallana, Morgan and Alex OC giving him ammunition he could be quality. £3m on a striker when a defender and another central midfielder are clearly the priorities, to me signals our intent. Very happy if this is true.
-
A willing runner and a try-er but technically, he was gash. Effort will get you very far in football though, which is why I rated him.
-
This will no doubt annoy the fence rattlers and pompey fans allergic to steps.

Name someone in the last season that has done "the business" as you put it against Barcelona. I stand by what I say. 75% of the sides competing in the Champions League are mid table Premier League standard as best. The 2 also rans from Spain every season, any team from France that isn't Lyon, pretty much any German side, any Dutch side, none of the Italian sides would finish top 4 in England (Obviously Inter would have under Mourinho). That's why I dont get it. It's over-rated and is only interesting when the likes of Man Utd, Barcelona and Real Madrid play eachother.

Is that you Deppo?
