  1. My Dad used to take my to Mayflower Park. Fishing ragworm used to work a treat and we'd bag up. Not sure if you can still fish here as it was a few years ago but was always a good venue.
  2. Exactly what is wrong with the game in this country. Picking players with pace over technical ability. I shudder to think how the likes of Xavi or Iniesta would have faired if they came through the same academy as Jermaine Pennant and Shaun Wright-Phillips. The fact that an England team was never built around Paul Scholes is my case in point. Our best player in decades and he's shunted out to the left wing.
  3. Is Chris Jericho performing???!
  4. If Beattie doesn't love the club, he sure as $hite loves the area. He brought the entire Everton squad to Southampton for their christmas night out FFS. His wife is from here and he no doubt has happy memories of spending his best days here too. I seem to remember he did have a problem scoring against us for Everton as well. His natural instinct after scoring was to celebrate and then it appeared he remembered who he was playing against and the celebrations from him abated. If living in this area with his family makes him happier in his private life, maybe that will be reflected in his performances and commitment on the pitch. Even Strachan has gone on record to say that to get the best out of Beatts, you need to get him fit and engaged. Perhaps Adkins is the man to do this?
  5. Can't argue with it. He is like a hard working Adel Taarabt. Perhaps doesn't quite possess Taarabt's long range passing ability but his close control, energy and dribbling skills are more than a match.
  6. I think you need to get to the training ground next time your back. I can assure you the players these days aren't exactly rocking up for work on scooters and clapped out Ford Fiestas. As someone else mentioned, aside from a few people witnessing his behaviour out of the town (myself included), has there really been any other mention of a disruptive attitude? Word is he got involved with getting Paul Sturrock the sack but was he wrong in doing this? If you think he was, it didn't exactly hold Jason Dodd back did it? He is still involved with the club. Sammysaint reckons BT has deffo been training with us and this makes sense. Adkins would be mad to at least not have a look.
  7. I'd say Beats is probably more similar to Gary Hooper who has such success with Adkins at Scunny.
  8. To the tune of "Whole world in their hands".. They've got ten thousand empty seats They've got ten thousand empty seats They've got ten thousand empty seats Pompey is a massive club - are they f*ck They've got 5 pound for adults and the kids go free They've got 5 pound for adults and the kids go free They've got 5 pound for adults and the kids go free Pompey is a massive club - are they f*ck They've got Fred Dineage, celebrity fan They've got Fred Dineage, celebrity fan They've got Fred Dineage, celebrity fan Pompey is a massive club - are they f*ck
  9. We're sh!t out of luck if Baird, Walcott or Bale become available then!!!
  10. Imagine the tax income from legalising drugs as well. Very surprised they haven't even considered this.
  11. Alex Ferguson maybe?
  12. Just seems like an absolute no brainer. He is a goal scorer at this level given the right service. With our creativity he would get on the end of enough chances I am sure. I'm not saying go ahead and sign him but surely an invite to train for a couple of weeks would suit all. If he brings his "billy big balls" attitude as others have called it, I'm sure Nige will give him the "thanks but no thanks" treatment. If he comes in, knuckles down and does well then we have a player who up until 2 or 3 years ago was this divisions top scorer.
  13. Was this post an attempt at irony?
  14. I'd get him some boots with screw in studs and make sure he's wearing shin pads. Apart from that the school should provide the shirt, socks and shorts. Can't go wrong with Sports Direct for cheap, black, leather boots.
  15. Effing get in there Morgan! 10 ish mins left, lets get the win!!!
  16. 46 game season kids. Holmes will get his chances.
  17. Fact?
  18. Ideal draw for me would be: Liverpool v Chelsea Man City v Man Utd Everton v Arsenal Southampton v Aldershot Bolton v Stoke Cardiff v Wolves Burnley v Palace Newcastle v Blackburn
  19. Totally false position. They have been shocking. Despite the fact their defensive record is the best in the Prem, this is down to luck more than judgement. Arsenal, Sunderland, Villa and QPR have all been guilty of poor finishing against them and they are toothless up front. Decent midfield in Tiote and Cabaye (who is looking like the best signing of the season so far) and Ben Arfa to come back but I think an outfit like us would have a great shout of beating them.
  20. Newcastle home or away please. We'd beat them but always a good night up there or if the geordies are in town down here.
  21. I'm a massive fan of Kelvin. Keeps us in games at times. Will never forget Brentford away 2 seasons ago. We drew 1-1 but Kelvin was absolutely outstanding and pulled off about 5 or 6 saves of genuine world class ability.
  22. Pretty sure Nige does. Seem to remember someone started a thread on here a few months ago how they walk past him regularly when he is out walking his dog and he is always happy to stop for a quick chat etc... Top, top bloke is Nige.
  23. Both of them are no better than what we have Ben.
  24. More or less every single post you've made on this thread for a start.
