As long as isn't to Liverpool and the bulk of the money is re-invested in the team I wouldn't object. Luckily the length of his contract still left to run should dictate we still get £50+ for him.

We could do with a few in the general direction of the oppositions goal...
-
Out. His tenure has had absolutely ZERO redeeming features. We have regressed in every possible way. Something I thought was impossible after last season.
-
Not usually one for calling for a manager's head, particularly so early in to a reign but absolutely no progress has or is being made. In my eyes he has to go. If anything we are more boring, predictable and formulaic that ever. Clearly the players aren't motivated by him and would surely respond to a manager who shows more confidence in our attacking capabilities rather than this turgid, safety-first horse$hit we are currently being subjected to.

I've heard a plausible story that when Everton came knocking we didn't put up a huge fight to keep him. Part of the reason was that up until Christmas in his final season with us he was very close to getting the sack. Obviously results picked up towards the end of the season but that was more accredited to Mane's form than any managerial brilliance from Koeman. We've struggled since selling him (our last "x-factor" player) and now Everton have sold theirs (Lukaku) they are also struggling. Some awful, awful business done in the summer too didn't help.

He'all have the starting spot within the month from what I've heard....

How's Ben (number 4) getting on?
-
Still likely to be going ahead I reckon. Great signing from what I've seen and heard. Especially if we can forc VVD in to staying and playing alongside him. VVD is going to have to knuckle down and accept his situation if we do stay strong and refuse to sell him. It's a World Cup year and their participation is by no means a done deal so he'll be required to stay match sharp to take part in their qualifiers and then put in some strong performances at the World Cup and win himself a move to a proper big club next season.

Looks incredible. Visited South Africa and Mozambique on my honeymoon last year. If you get the chance to visit the Timbavati region, do so. Go and see Stoffel the escaping honey badger! Most of all... enjoy. What an amazing country that is.
-
Good point in fairness. If Liverpool signed him I doubt they'd give him 6 weeks to get match sharp. He'd be expected to be match fit and start playing almost straight away. Maybe not start him this Saturday but he should be ready in the next week or two.

Just started watching. Rowthorn got on yet? -
Voted for Tiss but Yeboah's strike was better for n my opinion.

Joey Pigford looks promising. Will be competing for national belts soon.
-
Ben Rowthorn. He's my nephew.
-
He told me 2 years when he was first told he was getting the deal so I assume it is still the same.
-
Buzzing for him. Have known for a while but nice to finally make it official and put pen to paper. Hard work starts here.
-
Think you could argue a case for Real Madrid (Ramos and Varane) and Bayern Munich (Hummels and Boateng). Personally I think he's tailor made for Barcelona.
-
Not convinced it is massively over priced in fairness. There arent many players out there that would improve 99% of other sides. He is one of them though. I'd say £70m is about the going rate considering his contract situation.
-
I reckon he'll stay this summer. He has got 5 years left on his contract. The club know they can still squeeze one more year out of him and still get bids of a similar size next season with 4 years remaining.

I just don't see the logic in this. By their own respective standards, it was an awful season for Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City and Man Utd (and Everton for that matter) who were always going to throw money well beyond our means at strengthening their sides. How do you expect us to compete with them in order to "kick on" and improve on our 6th place finish? Even with a good season, the best we could realistically hope for was 7th or 8th with a closer points gap than what it is currently. I'm not saying I am particularly happy with our results or performances in the league this season, bar the run to Wembley (and performance in the final) but to say we should have been looking to improve on last season's finish would have either relied on us throwing stupid money at the side which we were never going to do or relying on a few of the big boys having another awful season which was unlikely to happen given the money they were willing to spend to rectify their own problems. Puel doesn't inspire me with a great deal of confidence - not many players seem to really be buying in to what he is trying to achieve but I think he has/will achieve what was most likely at the start of the season, albeit in possibly the most uninspiring, insipid fashion.

Tony Adams at Granada...

Be interesting to see if Yoshida is happy to go back to being 3rd choice next season if, as expected, we sign a replacement for Fonte. I rate him (more so with a VVD alongside him) and couldn't think of many better 3rd choice centre backs outside the top 3 or 4 but think he might feel he has done enough this season to justify a first team spot from now on, either here or somewhere else.

Indeed. His Dad played an absolute blinder.
