Paul Williams. Why he was sacked.
-
That will be the line trotted out no doubt. I have it on good authority (and seem to remember someone on here recently saying something to the same effect) he's quite sure of himself (i.e. bit of a pr*ck) and revelled in our misfortune a few years ago as he is bitter towards us releasing him when he was a kid.

Fifteen (!) youngsters sign scholarships with Saints

You still haven't put my nephew on the IPad version of FM so I don't hold out much hope for these lads.... -
Apparently so. Another one he really rates is Leko at West Brom. I think Saints need to be the club that bridges the gap between promising football league talent and the top 6. If we aren't going to compete with the best and have now seemingly accepted our place as a small club, this would be the next best thing for our reputation and to make use of the facilities.

Heard good things about Green. My nephew rates him highly.

25% apparently...

See I question this. The rot set in whilst Koeman was still here. We still played a similar style of football but we had a difference maker in the ranks in Mane. We still largely played a similar toothless possession based style of football but Mane got his act together in the second half of the season to win his big move away. The only stand out performance up until that point was Arsenal at home on Boxing Day. Before then our results and performances were extremely average.

Some player that Kenedy... bye-bye MoPe... surely no choice now?

Can you imagine if this clown somehow finds a way to win us the FA Cup?!

Bring back four Saints players and a manager to save our season.

I'd go with Pochettino as manager. Seemed to really get the squad to buy in to his methods and tactics and appears to be doing the same at Spurs. Players would be Niemi, Alderweireld, Lallana and Mane. -
Indeed! But performances and results appear to agree with me don't they? Apparently his stats recently (distances covered, possession recovery, passing accuracy etc..) have all been superior to his counterpart in the first team.
-
The turn in form and results has been since Rowthorn has been back in the starting XI. He protects the back 4 and allows the likes of Slattery and Hesketh to get forward without leaving gaping holes. I hope the club are beginning to take notice.
-
Sorry but they are a better side when Rowthorn plays

Ross Wilson appointed as Director of Scouting & Recruitment

Isn't he working out a ridiculously long notice period at Spurs in order to move in to management? -
So are you in the 'In' or 'Out' camp?
-
Anyone watch?? How did Rowthorn get on? First start in a while...
-
Have they got a Harry Kane-Peters we can take instead?

I was at a work conference at the casino in the Ricoh Arena. The only Saints fan there but a few Liverpool fans. I remember going absolutely mental when Long scored then putting £20 on 7 on the Roulette in his honour (high roller, I know!) but the little bugger came in, making it an even better night. I don't remember much else after that...

Current players who remind you of former players

Your wardrobe would probably come and claim a cross in to the 6 yard box every once in a while too... -
David Blunkett could have told you that in fairness...

Any news on the lineup? -
Anyone who thinks he wouldn't be a good signing needs their heads examining. He is one of those players who will flourish at a club like Southampton. As long as he produced the goods he will be indulged and adored by the fans. A loose canon perhaps but he might just be what the squad needs to bring them together. He reminds me a bit of Paolo Di Canio. An absolute nutter but he's got talent coming out of his ears and is able to create something from nothing. Exactly what we need. I would be massively in favour of this.

I've never been one to advocate the premature sacking of a manager. For nearly every manager we have ever sacked I have always seen the argument for sticking by them, even if at times I didn't necessarily agree. On this occasion, there has been absolutely no redeeming features of his tenure with us. No evident game plan or style of football that will "come good" once the players adapt to the system. No flashes of tactical brilliance that have won us unexpected points (the draw with Man Utd was more through luck than judgement. They missed a hatful of clear cut chances). No improvements in any player performances at all. In fact, quite the opposite - players have regressed under his leadership. The players appear unmotivated. Sacking the manager would of course be a gamble and there is no guarantee it would produce an improvement in results but there is absolutely no evidence that keeping him is going to produce an upturn in fortunes all of a sudden either.

The Tyro write-ups used to be put up on the board by the boys changing rooms when I was at Thornden School. No better feeling than getting a mention in the write ups and having it up for everyone to read for a whole week!
