I would agree Liverpool did manage to turn the heads of the Southampton players. Brendan Rogers congratulatory message to Lambert on his England call up - what was that all about? Well, I suppose it is at least one season in the CL, which is unlikely to happen at Saints. However whether Lambert or Lallana actually themselves get to play in the CL is another matter. Like you you, I don't see Liverpool being top 4 again this coming season.

They should have arranged it the other way around. At least then they could have claimed to have received the highest ever record fee, and then broken that record again immediately after. This way the 25m for lallana is now going to look very small beer indeed.

IMHO this is a much bigger deal than the bit parts AL, Shaw and Lambert have plead in this WC.

It seems transfer prices haven't increased significantly in over a decade. However the total income received by the top clubs today from all sources, has increased out of all proportion.

Just because in the past such incidents weren't taken so seriously, doesn't mean that attitudes haven't now changed significantly.

I have to agree with this, but don't count myself as a monarchist. Why do England still persist with God save the Queen as the national anthem. The world over, so many other countries Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Scotland etc who used to have GStQ as their national anthem, have in the last 50 years all sort something much more in keeping with their own individual identities.

This, there are bust ups all the time up and down the country that no one ever hears about.
