Let's face it, if Beckham had spent his entire playing career at Southampton he would only have won a fraction of the England caps that he did, and of course none of the trophies. Probably wouldn't even have won Victoria either!

and certainly not Liverpool, way above their level……... -
Mark Hughes's phantom goal for the Saints Aug 1999

You would have thought that if the ball did hit the advertising boards (which were very close behind goal, it was a very narrow perimeter strip) behind the goal and cannon back out, it would have been happening all the time. I do remember the incident, although not at the match, I seem to remember watching it on TV (although I may have been listening on the radio!). -
How satisfying it is to transfer Lovren out of my Fantasy team…...

That's brilliant….

And then it is a short step to becoming Southampton Veho, no thanks. The whole City or United or any suffix for that matter is the identity of the club. Imagine if the two Manchester clubs changed their suffixes.

The new Southampton City gateway has failed its building inspection

Having visited brilliant maritime museums in such places as Oslo, Hamburg, Amsterdam and I hate to say it Liverpool and Glasgow too, considering Southampton's Ocean Liner heritage its just a shame that this is the best they can do. Southampton really does need something to bring the tourist flocking in much the same way as Portsmouth does. The maritime heritage is just as strong in Southampton as Portsmouth, and not just the dam Titanic. -

I agree it's not that bad. Living in London and seldom visiting Southampton these days, I see far worse up here. True it does look like an upturned cigarette butt! -
It's decades since they played at Eastville

Anyone else think we could be on the verge of something special?

When Steve Wigley was appointed manager "until at least the end of the season" in 2004, I knew for a certainty then, that Southampton would be relegated and it happened. -
I remember poopey fans saying that to me, only I think with them it was top 4 minimum :-)
-
This, never been able to get excited regarding any of our defectors (Wallcot, Ox, Lallana et al ) doing well for some so called big four club or their country. Mind you Gareth Bale seems slightly different scenario, with him on course to become one of the best players in the World. It helps that Bale doesn't now play for some so called Top team in the EPL.

Shaw according to SSN(can't remember who was watching the game for them now -lol) had a poor game apparently.

Would appear to be a major upgrade on Lambert.

That's the whole point, you can always dream. My dreams is that come May we will be Premier League Champions, that's the dream. Every one dreams. -
Based on that performance I'll be surprised if Wenger doesn't table a cheeky 4m bid for him bin the end of the season.
-
Charlie Nicholas just stated on SSN, that Lallana had a very poor night tonight.

This is so true…...

Lyon have won the French league about 8 times in a row, in the last 10 years please can Southampton be like them.

Mayo with chips is the only way to eat chips, I learnt that one during a week in Antwerp with the Navy about 30 years ago. -
Oh I wish we were like Lyon, 7 consecutive league titles in the last dozen or years says differently.

If that's the case I hope wet sham are paying his wages in full, plus a hefty lone fee.
