  1. Sounds sensible to me, as soon they get the Lukaku money the clubs they are doing business will be demanding more............
  2. Quite revealing the number of ex saints players in that list.......
  3. Although money seems to be no object, I expect ManU are probably relieved he hadn't signed the contract extension offered. His wages would probably have cost about £12m whilst recovering from that injury, and at 36 years of age no guarantee he would ever be the same player again. The other side of the coin of freedom of contract.
  4. Vince Cable is back...........
  5. I thought the strap line on SSN referred to Landers "failed" bid to buy Southampton?
  6. The agents are not really advisors, just out to make a quick buck for themselves...... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. They should still get hit for unsettling the player......
  8. I read an article in a magazine called "Construction News" that gave detailed plans for stadium expansion of thirteen EPL clubs (Chelsea, Tottenham, Man City, Liverpool, ManU, Everton, WBA, Leicester, Stoke, Bournemouth, Watford, Palace and Swansea), and a number of clubs in the lower leagues. The gist of the article was of a stadium construction boom, to enable the clubs to grow their income streams whilst adhering to the principals of FFP. Sorry unable to post a link to the article. You might scoff but with the so called smaller clubs all pushing their capacities to around the 32k mark, and the likes of of Spurs and Everton moving to huge new stadiums, we are standing still. Whereas in 2001 when SMS was first opened Saints had one of the larger stadiums in the PL, in a few years we will have one of the smallest!
  9. I'm not sure that teams like Palace, Watford, WBA, Stoke , Leicester or even Bournemouth have the demand any more than us. They are all however pushing ahead with major expansions in the hope of growing that demand.........
  10. Thirteen of last seasons premier league clubs have major stadium expansions plans in the offing, with the aim of drastically improving income generation flows. Southampton one of seven including the three relegated sides, Arsenal and Wham who no major plans in the offing. If we are not careful we are going to get left behind in the FFP stakes........
  11. He's only going to want to go somewhere that it is likely they will be pushing for the title, not just treading water........
  12. No, the reason he was offered a new contract was so that Southampton would get more money, and be in a stronger bargaining position when it came to him leaving.
  13. I'd rather we went for Wagner......
  14. Silva apparently now in advanced talks with Watford.....
  15. I think if he was going, he would be gone by now.........
  16. Back up to 8th......
  17. I think people always attach to much sentimentality to managers losing their jobs in professional football. In the end at the top end of the pyramid they get extremely well paid to produce results, in the ultimate results driven industry. It's not really a question he doesn't deserve to lose his job because we finished 8th and reached a cup final, its at the end of the day could someone else do a little bit better in some other areas. If he loses his job he will get extremely well compensated, and walk straight into another one. I don't suppose Puel or many other managers attach too much sentimentality to their current employer.
  18. He's just had a bad injury, nobody really knows how well he is recovering from that. Suppose if Saints thought he might not be same player again, it might be a good move to flog him off now!
  19. Usually seem to sell early and buy late..........
  20. I think taking Hull to third bottom is some achievement in itself........
  21. Lets hope Austin stays injury free for these last 4 minutes.........
  22. If Caceres is playing, they must be looking at him with an eye for next season!
  23. Isn't it today that the period of exclusivity is up?
  24. Three points for a win seriously advantages the big teams........
  25. At the end of the day Liverpool have failed to score against Southampton in four matches this season!
