That’s part of the problem, relegation shouldn’t be a disaster for a football club. It should be part of the natural scheme of things in a sport. However because the PL is now first and foremost big business, it has come to this sad state of affairs.
It's madness to suggest selling this guy to reinvest. He is worth far more to the team than anything like his transfer value, which I imagine is now probably quite low.....
Trouble is is none of the above is true these days, we break our transfer record on yet another crap record buy, and then ship them out on loan. Eventually writing of the loss. Not a sustainable business model..........

Exactly, what decent employer would public crucify their employee, who is also a commercial asset. A player who may yet turn out to be a very good player....
Don't forget pompey are still the only club to have a points deduction applied when going into administration after a date in March in the current season, rather than having it carried over like we did.......
