Didn't get to watch the stream earlier so first chance to see some of the action. "Connolly headed his elbow"... hmmm interesting intepretation from claridge. Didn't think the red was that harsh at all to be honest; lead with his elbow and was some way from getting his head to it. Looked like Cork had a cracker on the right hand side.
-
Hmmm interesting. Cork at right back maybe? Otherwise we seem to have two left backs and four centre mids. Funny old bench.

Fantastic achievement! Shame about the winning streak but those kind of runs are always likely to come unstuck from a refereeing mistake or an individual error (sadly for Bart- the latter). Bring on Pompey.
-
Under no illusions that it's going to be a tough game but I don't know where this idea has come from that pompey have some kind of man united-like will to win. Part of their problem this season has been the fact they have a load of gutless journeymen who couldn't give a sh*t about the club.

What a team! This feels like it could be a big moment, a lot of character shown by the boys tonight.
-
Still got to do a professional job here: no rash challenges (don't give the ref a chance to even it up) and wear them down with the passing game.
-
Sounds a funny match. Doesn't seem like we've really got going (-in terms of our passing game) despite leading 2-0.
-
You'd think so, but actually looking at the points over the month it could well be one of Freedman, Hughton or Pearson.
-
Maybe time to shake things up? De Ridder and Schneiderlin?
-
I was more annoyed by Hammond giving away the free kick on the edge of the area than his second yellow (had a feeling the red was bound to come given the rate at which the ref was handing out the yellows.) Before we gave them that, i felt the momentum was finally starting to shift; Reading worked very hard but were starting to run out of ideas. Delighted with SDR when he came on and despite a poor performance on the whole by the team, we still claimed a point away to a team that could well be up around the promotion places come may. Blue line drawn.
-
Has anyone else seen the picture of de ridder getting booked on the OS (Photo ? What the hell did he say to the ref?

Need a chance to fall for lambert.

No shame in that, decent result. Get the impression though if we had gone ahead early on we could have beaten them fairly comfortably.
-
Pretty encouraging since the goal. Hoping Hammond and De Ridder can make an impact if/when they come on.

Cripes. Could be a tough day.

We really seem to have found the right balance at the moment. Brighton complain about us being overly physical which is partly a result of Pardews tenure, who was inspired by united - targeting strong and direct players: Lambert, Hammond, Richardson, Fonte even Puncheon, but that's just one asset of this squad. Saints have produced and brought on two very technically gifted players in Lallana and Schneiderlin which has been added to with Nigel's signings (Cork, De Ridder). Now if we can perhaps add a little more pace and bolster the centre of defence we can be a real force. Exciting times to be a saints fan!

Would have taken 4 points from these last two games, but not this way. Disappointed, these are the kind of games we need to win if we're gonna be champions next season.

Wotton injury - the referee nearly had blood on his hands
T.REX replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
It was a farcical end to a farcical game. The referee failed to keep any kind of control over proceedings - at one point he tried to get the burnley wall to move back 10 yards and when they didn't budge, he just gave up and let the free kick be taken. I know its a bit of a cliché now about the respect campaign; but, referees like that must earn respect and he simply didn't. -
--------------Davis --James---Size--Perry---Skacel-- ------Schneiderlin--Wotton------- --McGoldrick------------Holmes-- -----------Euell--Saga----------- I'd hazard a guess at lallana and surman being the unsettled ones. I'd like to see Holmes start though i think a subs appearance may be more likely. James will surely come back into the line up. Any idea if there was any disciplinary action taken against Wotte? (Sorry if already posted).

They'd be more likely to take a risk with some of the players further up the field surely. Surman going to right back seems a likely scenario to me with Smith or Thomson in his place on the wing.
