  1. Was it Viafara who took a shot that hit one of the giant screens at st marys? Or did i imagine that..
  2. Beautiful! If Forren is the player we hope he is, we could have the makings of a very good team here.
  3. I just hope Nile Ranger doesn't play.
  4. If anyone's got a few spare minutes, would love some feedback: http://pythagorasinfootballboots.wordpress.com/2012/11/10/southampton-vs-swansea-city-premier-league-match-preview-2/ No worries, if not. COYR!
  5. Agree with this. Look at Adkins' record in the championship for example. First full season as a championship manager: relegation, second full season: survival, third full season... promotion.
  6. We just cannot seem to find the right balance: the wide players are too attacking leaving the full backs exposed. Davis and Schneiderlin are good ball-players but nowhere near physical enough. But we just don't have the personnel to come in and fix the problems. What's inexcusable though is the lack of fight we showed today. We've got to start playing every game like its a cup tie (and not the kind at Elland Road last week). Where's the spirit we showed in League 1 and the Championship? Personally i'd like to see Nige given a bit longer to turn it around, I still believe he's a good manager and a top bloke, but if he does go i can think of one person i'd happily see back (but can't see him getting on with Cortese somehow and he might just fancy the Scotland job).
  7. Go to 7:30 in the part two video.
  8. Pretty annoying that we were out of it by half time again. Not at all surprised by the end result, everton are in-form and one of the best teams in the league (aside from chelsea, arsenal, united and city). Bit surprised by the formation choice and hope Morgan is back soon. Hope all who went up have a good night out/journey back regardless Doesn't seem like we've made bad transfers with Gazza the latest to impress, just not enough of them and not enough strength in depth.
  9. Worth noting Everton have one of the strongest left sides in the premier league with Baines and Pienaar linking up. We may well need Clyne on the right side because he seems to have the pace to get himself out of difficult situations.
  10. No wrist-slitting here. Despite the results, before Saturday we had turned in 2 pretty damn good performances (i can't vouch for Wigan as i didn't see it). Even in the Championship there were occassions where we just didn't turn up for whatever reason (Bristol City H&A, Leicester H, Blackpool A, Brighton A), it's just that on Saturday we did that against one of the best clubs in the country. It's frustrating but it happens. We've just got to make sure we bounce back quickly which we are more than capable of doing.
  11. Gutted. I never dared to believe we would get the 3 points until the last 5 minutes of normal time and that's when it all went wrong. Once again there were many positives to take... none more so perhaps than Morgan Schneiderlin. An absolute class act in midfield, marshalling Kagawa effectively and consistently picking out passes. Alongside the energetic Ward-Prowse and Steve Davis (who barely put a foot wrong), we had a midfield that for large periods outplayed United. But in the closing stages we needed a fresh pair of legs in the middle because Scholes found it too easy when he came on to pick his passes. Perhaps Chaplow could have played that role? Although a lot of criticism has been levelled at Fox and Fonte (some fairly), we have to defend better as a unit defensively. At a time where we needed composure we begun to panic and hit it long. When we needed to take advantage of a team who weren't at their best and looked rattled in defence we took our foot of the gas and begun defending deep. Nigel should take some responsibility for this. I can understand that he felt that was the moment to bring on Mayuka and get some pace for a counter attack, but we needed an option for the middle of the park and further by taking off Lambert we also lost an easy out ball. One of the good things about Nigel is he values the team above any individual player, but he has to consider that by taking Lambert and Lallana off we don't just lose two great footballers, we lose two talismanic figures who lift the rest of the team. Having said all that i still have total faith in Nigel and the job he is doing here. Today was much more impressive than against city for me; we played some real good football and the formation finally clicked. Add Gaston to the front line and we've got the making of a real attacking force (though he's going to have a hard job replacing one of todays front three). Credit to Puncheon, saw him in pre-season and it looks like his hard work there has payed off.
  12. Having been to the Wolves game the other week when it was quiet enough to hear the players on the pitch, i was surprised by just how vocal Adam was... squeaky voice mind! Thought he looked a natural captain today and better suited to the role now he's moved more into the middle of the park.
  13. Involved in both Scotland goals so far. Good stuff.
  14. 20th according to the Observer staff. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/aug/11/premier-league-2012-13-club-guide
  15. 2-0 to west ham now (4-0 on aggregate). Credit to west ham their defence is very solid and they're actually knocking it about a bit now. But i have to say Cardiff look so ineffective. They look like us if we had to play with connolly up front on his own all season.
  16. MLG, where did you see this about Deano? Can't seem to find his twitter. Seems a bit of a shame for him to go after finally making it up to the premier league. Not sure he'd make it to be fair but still...
  17. Every manager must be scottish. Liverpool have kept the sense of entitlement but lost all the talent. Something happened to richard keys and andy gray.. no idea what.
  18. Nugent has been awful. The good news though is Dyer looks a real threat.
  19. Man United - what a bunch of bottlers! Need to change the whole back line... etc etc
  20. Boro are playing the classic way against saints - pressing us high up the pitch, trying to break our rhythm, crowding davis on corners etc. Don't think we've responded badly to the challenge apart from that 10 minute spell after the goal. Hopefully shooting towards the saints crowd can galvanise the players. Actually think chaplow's been quite good and i'm not usually a big fan - find his first touch (or lack of) frustrating.
  21. Yeah fair play to them. Amazing achievement to go on a run like that in such a competitive league... still hoping we can get 1st place though
  22. Was saying this last night. It could be pretty interesting if it does go to the last game. Whose to say reading won't get a little complacent now either? Unlikely sure, but everyone was saying man united had won the title last weekend and then they went and lost at wigan. It annoys me that when we win the match thread is about 4-6 pages long and when we lose its 11 pages and a helluva lot of whinging.
  23. Madine's been good. Think he'd have been a decent option for us earlier this season when Lambert was absent or in need of a rest. Antonio had a good spell here but i have to agree that L1 is probably his level.
  24. Remember when Pilkington was injured for Huddersfield last year? Guess who stepped into their side then... Some crazy deja vu going on.
  25. Well it seemed pretty conclusive on the football league show that the decisions were right. Not that it makes any difference but nice to see that moron abrahams proved wrong.
