  1. I’m not sure anyone will be interested in my efforts here. Would welcome comments if you have any. I have 3 options. A budget, mid range and expensive option. Budget is a Tier1 machine as suggested above. https://www.tier1online.com/1-1mj36us-aba/refurbished-elitedesk-800-g2-tower-intel-core-i5-6500-3-20ghz 16Mb Ram and 960 SSD. Just over £600 with a refurbed 22” screen. Cheap but a bit dirty, I’m worried it won’t be up to video editing. I’m not a pro though so may be good enough. Screen might be a bit rubbish too. Mid range is a built machine, designed for video (and therefore in my mind will be fine for photography) https://www.punchtechnology.co.uk/product/entry-video-editing-computer-2019/ Should be quick and has a lot of memory to mess around with. Considering a £200 standalone monitor with it. £1200 ish all in. Expensive. iMac, 21.5” screen. 16Mb Ram. Fusion drive (32Gb SSD and 1TB hard drive) With a 6% discount through work, should be about £1550. I think I’m favouring the mid option. The budget one just seems a bit of an unknown given I’m not very techy, and will probably struggle to modify any hardware if needed in the future.
  2. 6-0 Saints. Saganowski hattrick.
  3. In truth, I could still sway for a laptop as I don’t see that there are huge differences between them and static machines. Maybe I’m being naive. I bought my previous MacBook in 2010 I think and it’s still going ok, a bit clunky no doubt. So it has proven to be good value for money. My work laptop is a Lenovo thinkpad, and to be fair, other than a replaced fan and screen, it has lasted a long time too. So I’m glad to hear others views and experiences. I have looked online, lots of people suggest apple is good reliability wise, and less prone to viruses etc. This does appeal to me, but for all I know everyone else is just as good now. Please keep eel your thoughts coming all, Very much appreciated.
  4. I hadn’t thought about this route. Thanks. they seem to get good reviews. I guess it’s just a bit of a gamble, despite the warranty, seeing as you don’t know what the machine has done, and it’s theoretically 3 years out of date already - not sure how much that matters any more. Dellrefurbished is incredibly cheap with discounts, but has terrible reviews so I’ll probably steer clear of that one! A mac is always an option, I have apple phone and tablets, just annoyed at being tied to them and their ridiculous pricing... you do get reliability though. In short, I’m still not sure what to do.
  5. Hi all, I’ve no doubt most of you know more about IT than me, so looking for some advice. previously I’ve had a MacBook, it’s lasted years and years and has been great. Im now looking to get a new computer. I only really need it for standard office stuff, but would like it to have some welly for amateur photography/video work (no, not redtube type stuff) I’m looking to keep it reasonably cheap, and won’t be gaming on it. Don’t mind what OS. so... 1. laptop or desktop? I’m preferring the latter due to cost, I don’t really need mobility. 2. Where to buy from? I don’t want to build something myself 3. Any top tips? roughly speaking I was thinking of getting something with a ssd, 8 or maybe 16 Ram... im sure I could go on, but don’t want to lose your interest. Thoughts welcome please. R
  6. '99 (20 years ago!!!) we came back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with Blackburn. Pretty sure pahars got the equaliser. Helped keep us up and the noise at the dell turned me into a saint. So a special one to me at least. Also, last game at the Dell vs arsenal was pretty good.
  7. His name is Rabbithutch, He’s got a masterful touch, He’s knicked Danny Ings’s crutch, To support the Saints. We hate Pompey.
  8. I mean, there’s a lot of average out there, but still gotta feel for Bertrand. Even though he didn’t have a good season, he’s still been better than Ashley young. Even when he was quick he wasn’t that good, now his legs are shot he offers nothing.

    Stag do's

Some surprisingly good suggestions, and advice. Thanks all. i should have mentioned the low budget, flights are out of the question. As much as I'd like to go abroad. The distillery is a great shout, but the stag is much more of an ale drinker - any good brewery tours about? Ringwood is too far away I think... Thanks for the Andover advice too, I know Salisbury a bit so may head there. Anyone know of any good bike ride routes with pubs along the way? Somewhat weather dependent I suppose.

    Stag do's

I have best man duties to complete. I want to do a decent job, but need some inspiration. Any good ideas for this? Stupid stories etc? (We've all heard the smurf one) Were going to Thruxton for the touring car champs, but need an activity for the Saturday. Any thoughts on what to do? I can't imagine there's much going on in Andover?! Was thinking pub crawl (by foot or bike) but don't know the area well. Would really appreciate any suggestions, stupid or other. Cheers all.
  11. Think there won't be any left. Any time for me thanks... Even 95 if nothing else! Cheers
  12. Am I the only person who likes Long then? A more than decent squad player in my eyes. He isn't going to score 20 in a season, but he has good all-round ability and works hard. I'm pleased we've signed him. I didn't watch the entire game but I was particularly impressed with Clyne, Fonte, Schneiderlin, Tadic and Pelle. Pelle gets motm for pulling back Wilshere (I think) at the end of the game, loved how much that wound up Wenger and Wilshere. I don't particularly want it to happen, but if Clyne doesn't get a call up, I'll stop supporting England. It's beyond dumb that he isn't in the team.
  13. Sky were reporting that we were 6th highest spenders in this window... Before the signing of Mane which I think put us into 5th above Man City?! Of course we got a lot in from Shaw, Lallana and Lovren, but now it seems we might actually have a stronger squad. I can't pretend to know how good some of these guys are so I'll caveat the above with that. All in all I'm pleased, especially because we haven't (yet) got rid of any other key players... Fingers crossed no-one leaves at the last second. Despite that, I'm sad to see Jos and Ramirez leave. Jos because he was a bit of a square head legend, and Ramirez because I got so worked up when we broke records to sign the guy. I still have hope that he will come good.
  14. Really? He looks at the player making the run, he weights and directs the pass to feet and fake crosses a second or so after hitting the ball with his left... Can't understand how anyone thinks that was unintentional.
  15. A divisive thread! I suppose not the first on here, but I think it's quite telling. Could this be the test to decide who knows football and who is that guy who shouts 'get stuck in there lad' and applauds the player who runs about like a headless chicken...? Welbeck is a good player, if SAF plays him, he's a good player, you don't need to say any more really. Sure his first touch can be suspect, but Beatts suffered from that, yet he was still a great player for us. Is Danny welbeck a good player? do you know anything about football?
  16. My initial song thought was Ella Ella Ella eh eh eh by Rihanna. Probably not as long as above, our fans can't manage more than 4 lines. Then I thought of kelis. Before you My whole life was Rickie Lambert Now I see the need Beyond my self to say Now there's you, Graziano acapella! Now I see the need Beyond my self to say.... (that lallanas a ****)
  17. Good player who achieved everything he could with us. Sad to see him go but he's unlikely to improve as a player at his age, and couldn't keep up with our high paced game for a full season. Still could have given us something over the next year or two, but footballers move on, so will we. In many ways I'm glad to have seen him rise and peak... Can be sad to see heroes lose their touch. I hope he doesn't end up as a benchwarmer next season. i agree that to the team all round, he's worth more than £4M so the fee is a slap, but what would be a good price? What's to say the add-ones won't tot up? Think people are being a bit precious, and to suggest rickie has done anything wrong is dumb.
  18. Had this myself a couple of years back, not sure if it was before or after the date when things changed stated earlier. i parked in a cafe car park for 2mins whilst visiting the shop next door. It was a Sunday and the cafe closed. Still, a private company slapped a ticket on me. Had it been a council car park, or a reasonable fine, I'd have paid. £70 rising to £100 after 2 weeks seemed unreasonable, so looked at some sites and the advice at the time was the 'don't respond at all' so I didn't. Received a number of things through the post, threatening court action etc. it went to £100, the £125 and then £160 odd I think. Still ignored it. They then said they'd reviewed it and that I owed £65! £5 less than the original fee! That just convinced me that they were monkeys so I didn't act. Not had anything else since. as before, they rely on people caving, I recommend not doing so.
  19. A few things not right with this I would say. 1. Yes dredging would probably have removed a little more water away from the area, but flooding would definitely have occurred still. The additional capacity would do very little given the volumes in question, particularly during high tides (the Parrett at Burrowbridge is tidally influenced). More and more experts are now being heard, and the media are beginning to realise that dredging is very much the band wagon. The Thames is the most managed river in the country, dredged for navigation on a yearly basis... And yet it's flooding. 2. The bird sanctuary story is misleading and is just how the local MP describes the managed realignment of sea defences at Steart, at the mouth of the Parrett. Instead of spending public money rebuilding shingle defences again and again and again, as happens elsewhere at great expense, the defences were stepped back from the coast, requiring much less maintenance, to make them affordable for generations to come.
  20. Good all round performance, hence a few in the running for motm. Still can't quite decide on J Rod. He is either at his best now... Which I would say is a half-decent prem striker. Or, he could improve his first touch and really push on and become an international player. His dribbling forward sometimes reminds me of what Torres used to do at Liverpool... ('sometimes' underlined as I am by no means saying he is anywhere near that good yet) Am I alone on this one?
  21. A good post Minty. It's a heartless man who doesn't feel sorry for the people evacuated from their homes, but the flak the EA are getting is unjustified. To suggest dredging would have made much of a difference is simply stupid. Seems that dredging is going to happen now anyway thanks to politicians, even though a lot of leading engineers/hydrologists etc in the field say it will have a limited effect. What doesn't seem to make it into the news are the people who were flooded on the east coast during Christmas (mandelas passing trumped that news story in many cases). About 10 times the number of properties flooded compared to Somerset. Are these people going to be happy that money that could have been used to protect them, may now be heading to save fewer properties elsewhere? In the cold light of day you have to make decisions. Spend £1m to save 10 houses in one community, or 100 in another? Politics should have nothing to do with it.
  22. Can't help but feel we'll get tonked unfortunately... And I'm usually one of the more positive types. No Boruc, Clyne, Morgan or Wanyama = leaky defence. Lovren can't stop them all by himself ref: Villa. If we get anything, I'll be one happy man.
  23. Latest quote from Hodgson: "From an England perspective I'm still very happy to consider Ashley Cole as a potential English left-back but as you know, and have known for some time, the competition for that spot is particularly fierce because Baines is also playing so well."On top of that we have Arsenal's Kieran Gibbs and Luke Shaw from Southampton, two younger players but who I think can definitely put these more senior ones under some pressure. "I would definitely not be concerned, if there were no Ashley Cole or Leighton Baines, about Gibbs or Shaw playing." Just how many saints could be playing for England in brazil?! Sweepstake time? Still a long season ahead, I'd guess at 2. Not naming them though. In other news, still surprised at the amount of abuse welbeck gets. Think he does an ok job for England, we aren't blessed with a lot of world class talent. he's loads better than Heskey, that's a lazy comparison if ever there was one.
  24. Can't help but think either Sessegnon or Johnson will do something a bit special at some point during the game. Not necessarily consistently great players, but they have something. Hope chambers is up to it. Still quietly confident of a win.
  25. Like it.
