  1. Without wishing to detract form the glorious takeover saga thread, what do you think will be the next "You couldn't make it up story" to emerge. Try to keep it vaguely feasible, and then we can see how many of them do actually happen. I'll have a go............ A mystery fire breaks out in the Offices, destroying transfer and agent payment records. The subsequent insurance claim - needed to pay this months wages - is denied because they couldn't afford to pay for their Fire Safety certificate.
  2. Does the three club rule not apply?
  3. This is professional football. These things happen. If Ward had recieved a better offer before the paperwork was complete, he would probably have taken it. If there were issues about the medical and the Club choose not to disclose it, is that right or wrong? If we were simultaneously negotiating with both and then the Seaborne deal looked better, then that's football. I can't help but feel the 18 month contract must have been an issue somewhere along the line - it is an unusual term. I hope we don't hear the full story. Even if it's not true, I hope the word goes out that we are not to be messed around by Agents or players looking for an easy payday. I hope people sign becasue they believe they are going to be part of a glorious and historic journey, not giving it 18 months to see if they can make even more money.
  4. Oatsemiboar and James. The new Bridge and Marsden. Except on the right. And they're not called Bridge and Marsden.
  5. Isn't it part of the Brian Stock deal?
  6. I'm getting very confused between the EPL, and the EDL. Can someone please explain?

    BBC tonight

It was loans, gate receipts, sponsorship etc. Not new funding. They're a basket case. No financial organisation is going to lend to them, so they're stuck in their nefarious world of black market deals until the balloon goes up. Sadly for them, administration will not be a way out, as Chenrai - a property developer holds the mortgage over FP. They could always Ground Share with Brighton I guess - a delicious irony.
  8. As we found to our cost (well perhaps not in the end) the FL, and the EPL, are effectively members clubs with the power to demand what they want from their members. It really is time the EPL grew some and demanded that the PFC prove that they are not under the control of Daddy Gheydamak. Not easy to prove a negative, I know, but first off Ali Al-Mirage should be required to attend a meeting with forensic accountants to demonstrate how he has funded the club, and how he intends to in the coming months. If he cannot demonstrate a viable plan to see them through to the end of the season, then their insolvency rules come in to force. Otherwise what happens on January Pay Day? The whole sorry farce begins again. Secondly, anyone providing more than 20% of the Capital in the business - either share or loan, shold be subject to the same scutiny - both financial and motivational. The EPL have a duty to the fans and the other clubs. Mawhingy declared in our case it was up to the FL to maintain the integrity of the competion, and that is why we were done. Where is the integrity in what is happening to the blue few - and the few decent ones deserve better leadership and stewardship than the EPL are currently displaying.
  9. I think he's adequate and getting better at RB. The other issue, is we don't have anyone more capable of delivering quality from set pieces as yet. That makes him an important player.
  10. Whoever it is better hurry up and sign if they want a few days holiday in Spain
  11. We were turned down by 4 larger firms than BT as they thought they couldn't get the sale away and cover their costs - they were nearly right.
  12. Of course they not only need to find £1.8m for the salaries, but that will also add another £800k due to the taxman. My guess is that it is not a loan that will pay the wages, but the sale of Kabul. Then they need to find another £2.5-£3m next month. No more Sky money until September. The house of cards is going to come tumbling down. How much do they get for finishing 20th?
  13. Presumably this is the money against which other short-term loans were arranged. I wonder of it also includes money owed to Lens.
  14. For the sake of arguement an average player wage of £4k pw x 20 players = £4m. Add another £3m for running costs. I'd say we're doing ok without before any transfer budget agreed by Herr Liebherr.
  15. I'd be interested to know if the PL can divert funds in preference to other creditors now that a Winding Up petition has been presented. The Petitioon is an Act of Insolvency, as if the order is granted a receiver can go back to the petition date to establish preference
  16. Yep, there are queues at all the Banks in Skatesville this morning as the supporters aim to take out short term loans to pay the players. It's a plan. If 32 take out a loan of £10000 each they can pay Utaka this month........ nah, not happening is it???
  17. I think you'll find all the top managers use FM to simulate the market before making a bid. It's standard practice as they don't want to be caught out by saddos on message boards and looking as though they haven't done thier homework. Sadly FM has lead to the almost total demise of the traditional scouting network - what's the point when you have a ready made one for 19.99?
  18. Chris Marsden?
  19. Within this article is the nub of why HMRC have taken action now. The EPL seek to ensure that all football related debts are settled first - this leaves HMRC out in the cold, unless they issue a Petition to Wind Up PFC. By issuing the petition it is my understanding that it puts all parties on notice of the potential winding-up, and they will have to account to the liquidator/receiver for all monies between the issuing of the petition and the Winding-up Order. Hence why a Bank Account gets frozen on issue of the Petition, and not on the Order. I think I'm right in saying that the TV money, and certainly International Transfer funds pass through the FA/EPL - maybe Domestic transfers as well. They are effectively accountable for those funds in the same way as a Bank would be, and would have to hold them pending the hearing - if I'm correct. I've seen this situation before, and HMRC will not withdraw the petition whilst their debt outstands - they may, however, agree to delay the heaing to give the Club time to pay. In these cicumstances they may agree to allow some payments to enable the business to continue to trade, but HMRC are in the driving seat. The danger for Pompey though is that other creditors can join in the petition, and may feel they need to do so to protect their position. Sacha may need to fork out another couple of Millions to stop them going bossoms upwards.
  20. So, that means Gheydamak steps into the shoes of the Bank, ramping up his debt by another £2.5m. Presumably this is the amount of the overdraft and the Bank account woud have been stopped on Notice of the Winding Up petition. The telling part is that even Gheydamak doesn't believe the Al Mirage is the beneficial owner. The Premier League will have some answers to find as this sordid episode unravels.
  21. See what happens when the Lowe tree gets shaken. Why can't people just let it be?
  22. True I remember as a boy watching a certain Matt Elliot when he signed for Torquay in the then Div 4 after failing at a higher club. 7 or 8 years later most of us would have given our right arms to sign him. Exeter?
  23. Surely the point is, its a squad - it's not one or the other, and we need both at different times, in different positions and in different circumstances.
  24. What he's saying publicly and privately may be two very different things?
