John seems to perform whatever is going on in the background. Saga, when he is on fire is better but way too inconsistent to rely on as your main striker.

Dunno. But you're right, thats the key. I think our current plan is to just survive until we can get them, Skacel, BWP and Euell off the wage bill. The c£3m pa that would save would enable us to stabilise and improve the team.

No-one here really knows what the terms of the deal were /are. Maybe Pulis senior said I'll give you £1m for Davies - but if you take my son as well I'll give you £1.3m and pay his wages for a year. Or maybe Pulis junior is only good at short passing and moving and cant hoof it far enough to get into the Stoke team.

As long as he produced accurate management accounts and warned them of the position then he did his job. You could argue that he might have resigned if his warnings were ignored - but it seems to me the whole club at that time were expecting a magic fairy takeover to wash all the problems away.

Alpine given your supposed experience of managing companies even you can see a business with £27m expenditure and £12m income isnt sustainable in the long or medium term - and certainly deeply, deeply unattractive to any prospective buyer. Players valuations on a balance sheet are very subjective. How would you have valued Claus for example knowing he was unlikely to play again but still having to pay his wages every week for two more years? Thin line sometimes between asset and liability.
