Yes I reckon Pearson was on way more at Newcastle than we are paying JP and Wotte combined. Prem wages at all levels are ridiculous. Four years ago Souness was earning £1.5m pa as Newcastle manager. Its easy to imagine Pearson was on c£450,000 as Assistant Manager and he would have wanted something similar here. By contrast JP bought himself out of his contract for £60,000 - indicating he may have been on as little as £60,000 at Helmond. I reckon JP and Wotte on are on something like £250,000pa combined at Saints.

You can say "There is no way Newcastle's assistant manager was one more than the combined wage of Wotte and Poortvliet". Doesn't mean it's true though. In fact, lets be honest, it isn't.

JP has done extremely well with the resources he has. This is a young and very inexperienced team, most of whom neither GB or NP would play. The fact that JP has had to play them and they havent been ripped apart shows well on him. They will improve.

GP had already announced his intention to return to work in France when he was diagnosed with cancer. Lowe renewed his contract so that GP wouldnt have to worry about where the next penny was coming from whilst he was fighting the disease. GP is very grateful to the club and to RL and IMO would do anything he could to help us.

The thing is that the value to Sky of the worldwide syndication rights continues to increase. More and more countries are watching live prem games and paying for the priviledge even as English fans get disenchanted with the whole charade. We could end up with prem games being shown live to 500m people worldwide - but in half empty stadiums. What happens then? Do some clubs start to relocate becoming Abu Dhabi Everton and Kuala Lumpur Pompey (not all bad then) or do the worldwide viewers wonder if the product is not so great after all if the locals cant even be arsed to go.
