Yes they tend to remember the part about spending your way out recession, whilst having conveniently forgotten the controlling spending part during economic expansions.
-
Can't disagree with most of that. I just hope that the proportion of the population who 'get it' are greater than you fear. As somebody who tends towards Labour, I do think their unforgivable error over the past 10 years has been to allow public spending to rise as a % of GDP during a protracted period of economic growth. Running a surplus and paying off debt during the good times is what they should have been doing so that you have room to borrow and stimulate the economy when the recession inevitably comes around again, ie now.

I reckon most people know deep down the boom of the past has been paid for by borrowing and the next few years are going to be painful. Thats why there has been record paying down of private debts. They'll be the occasional strike but I dont think we are going to see the 1970s or 80s over again.

GDP in 2009, in real terms, was almost exactly double that of 1981. Whether things have improved politically or socially is open to debate - economically it is beyond question.

With the advent of the EU the value of the Union has declined. I dont think we would lose anything with England, Scotland, Wales and NI all being independent nations with Europe.

Much less important now than it used to be. Anyway last time it looked liked Scotland was going to be independent the Shetland Isles pointed out it wasnt Scotland's oil, it was theirs, and they wanted to stay with the UK. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/comment/edmundconway/6505670/North-Sea-oil-is-dragging-us-into-the-red.html

Posters recognise satire and jokes. That was unrecognisable.

On that BBC site if you set it so that the Tories, Labour and LDs all get 33.3% of the vote it comes out as: Conservatives 208 seats; Labour 317; Liberals 101 Either thats a carp predictor, or we have a carp voting system - probably both.

Hes carrying a leg injury and may miss WC. imo we shouldnt be taking chances, even if he would come on a free. Should wait and see who wins WC and make bids for the top players then.

Brown led a rebellion against Blair on the referendum and Blair had to back track. Bet that doesnt seem like such a good move to him now!

Thats possibly the most ill educated post Ive read on here, and thats going some. You think paying £70 pm for mostly crappy programmes is better value for money than education of your children, fire service, police, roads, rubbish collection and public parks. Jeez I should be a salesman - there is all kinds of crap you would be a sucker for.
-
Economically England would be so much better off without Scotland, Wales and NI. In fact if you draw a line from the Wash to the Severn north of that line GDP per capita is roughly equivalent to that of Greece, whilst south of it GDP is equivalent to Switzerland.

Ive longed believed that most people who are labelled homophobic or racist arent actually that at all - they are 'culturalist'. People prefer to associate with others who they can relate to. A straight middle aged white British accountant is far more likely to relate well to a black gay British middle aged accountant than to a 20 year old straight white Russian brickie from the Urals. My niece is gay. Because she and her girlfriend are totally 'normal' in dress and behaviour and friendly to me as a guy I have absolutely no problem with their sexuality. The dykes who wear DMs, crew cuts and sit with their legs wide apart imitating men or the drag queens who manage to drag sex into every sentence leave me alienated.

15. Im a gay virgin apparently.....

We had a slow start, to be expected given the pre-season and had too much inconsistency - only to be expected from a new team. Im disappointed only because we came so close, against the odds really.

We dyed the best mans bits blue a week before the wedding, thinking it would wear off beforehand. Apparently still noticeable six months later.

Okay 11% would have an effect, but not much of one over time I'd wager. Thanks for the invite. I notice their advertising strapline is Whilst we've made up a bit, Im not sure we're ready for that.
