Exactly. 70% earn less than £20,000pa basic (unite have conveniently left out flying pay and language skills bonus) but the average is £29,900. That tells you all you need to know about the 30%.
-
No - 'senior cabin crew' in this context means Cabin Service Directors (the supervisors on the planes). An average of £56,000 is about right as I know some earn around £80,000pa. Even my ex on the new contract at Gatwick (ie the lowest of the low) earns £26,500pa after four years service - which is much nearer where the wages need to be imo.
-
Ooops another one who hasnt read my post. As the second paragraph states, the problem isnt the new contracts - its the thousands of heatrow staff on old grossly excessive contracts, earning three times a new recruit for the same job, and who dont leave.
-
No I know, its a ****e paper. But it is a direct quote from Walsh and I know from my ex (Cabin crew at Gatwick) that the figures are about right.
-
Long way from the truth. Walsh says BA's Heathrow cabin crew are 'the best paid in the country by some way' earning £29,900 a year compared with £14,400 at Virgin Atlantic. Senior cabin crew average around £56,000 a year. Gatwick crew earn substantially less and are likely to work through the strike. Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1259058/BA-Unite-strikes-Unions-final-talks-passengers-face-flight-chaos.html#ixzz0on8iBUNk BAs problem isnt the wages for new recruits - its the legacy contracts with Heathrow staff which stem from the days when flying was a high cost activity for the few. These mean staff continue to receive increments for 12 years or more. Apart from it being totally ridiculous and uneconomic that some CSDs (read waitress supervisor) earn £80,000pa it is also bad for staff morale that some people earn so much more for doing the same job. In most companies the problem would be solved over time by natural wastage, but the Heathrow staff know they are grossly overpaid, and so never leave for another job.

I asked the question. Actually I think killing people for a cause you dont believe in is infinitely worse than going along with a political decision you cant change. Like the Sun and Mail, a lot of finger pointing and hypocrisy on this thread. http://www.wri-irg.org/node/5877

Did you resign from the armed forces in protest at the war DD?

I resent EU interference in British affairs and demand to have my inferior rights restored to me.

They changed the terms about 8 years ago. Anyone in before that can retire at 60, in after and its 65.

Tories and Labour havent been that different on debt over the past 35 years. Debt tends to come down during a boom and go up during a recession. http://www.debtbombshell.com/britains-budget-deficit.htm

Yep my ex said that was the common term for them amongst Gatwick cabin crew. Mind you that was a few years ago, probably Fat, Frumpy and Fifty now. In almost no other hotel, airline or restaurant does a forty year old continue to think "I know I wont progress my career, I'll stay waitressing for a living". Tells you all you need to know about how overpaid Heathrow crew are.

"Portsmouth are not the only Championship side to have Collin on their radar". That sentence sounds strangely good!

Not defending Labours overspending in the past few years, but all industrialised nations are going to be screwed for about 10 years according to the FT.

Who the **** are they?

The alleged deal was that Spain would withdraw their 2018 WC hosting bid in exchange for Russia helping them bribe referees at the Russia 2018 WC.

Makes you realise how corrupt and out of touch football is when a bankrupt company with £130m in debts thinks cutting back to the bone involves paying second tier footballers £500,000pa. Thats three times more than the Prime Minister and more than the average £425,000 salary for the CEO of FTSE250 company who employs tens of thousands - companies like Britvic, Dairy Crest and Ladbrokes.

Madjeski has been trying to sell Reading for at least two years, with no takers. He wants shot as the club is costing him his fortune. Heres just the latest story http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/construction_and_property/article7128318.ece
-
At the very least he is highlighting that there are concerns about Spain and Russia at high levels in football. I think this kind of 'entrapment by friend selling you out' story by the mail is distasteful and damaging at the best of times - even when it involves somebody doing something dishonest or wrong. This woman has damaged Englands bid, and ruined the career of an honest man for a small bag of money. Its the mail and her who are disgraced imo.
-
Yeah there is, normally different to the one fans pick on though. Schneiderlin and KD were the butt of much of it not too long ago.
-
I imagine ML would like the club to pay for itself long term - but Im sure he knows the that in the first few years he is going to have to pump in more money than he gets out.
-
Seriously. wtf were they thinking in making him Chancellor? There must be dozens if Tories who would be a better choice than him. I cant think of any redeeming features.
-
Agree. Nothing to be gained by waiting. ML has the money and close season during a building industry recession is the perfect time to start.
