The United Kingdom and the Death of Boris Johnson as we know it.
buctootim replied to CB Fry's topic in The Lounge
It all depends on whether there is unified support for an electable replacement surely? The candidate being touted is Jeremy Hunt. If I was a Tory MP I wouldn't no confidence Johnson for Hunt. I'd wait for someone better to emerge. -
The blog I follow is claiming that Russia paid the Taliban $3 billion to not invade a disputed area of Tajikistan. Takjikistan is part of the CSTO - the Russian NATO and Russia couldnt or didnt want to commit forces to repel them. The Taliban, sensing weakness, have uppped their demand to $5bn. If Putin gives in its a very slippery slope. If he doesnt he risks two wars at once....

Also depends whether you think Crimea is Russian

This is bleak, white hot metal raining on you. Thermite is what they use to weld railway tracks - and supposedly (by nuts) used to cut through the steel beams of buildings during 9/11

Tbf its not as though their newer tanks are resistent to modern missiles. To some extent you might as well use the really old ones as they still have a gun and protect crews against bullets etc. It does show Russia is running low on inventory though, and if tanks are geting low what else is also running out....

Yuo posted something similar a couple of years ago and in response I posted up a slew of stats showing that every Tory administration since WW2 had left behind more public debt and a bigger budger deficit than they inherited - a much worse perfomance than Labour. -

I follow this anonymous blog, rumoured to be posted by a former FSB Colonel. Yes I'm well aware it could be anyone but the posts are always plausible and logical . Anyhow an interesting contradiction fto conventional wisdom. Western politicians are afraid of confronting Putin in case of provoking use of nukes. This guy is saying Putin wont use them if he is losing anyway, he will only use them to force a result when he has a chance of victory. GENERALL SVR, [26/05/2022 07:01] Dear subscribers and guests of the channel! The decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin to simplify the issuance of Russian passports to residents of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions of Ukraine is not spontaneous. This decision was in the plans for at least two months and was transformed and postponed based on the objective situation at the front. Moreover, the plans for the annexation of several regions of Ukraine to Russia for Putin have been resolved, and these plans are constantly discussed at closed meetings in various formats with the participation of the president. Now the main task that Putin has set for the military bloc is access to the administrative borders of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions and, if possible, the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions of Ukraine. When implementing the tasks of reaching the administrative borders of Donetsk and Lugansk regions, it is planned to recognize the independence of the occupied territories of Zaporozhye and Kherson regions with subsequent access to their administrative borders. After the capture and annexation of these four regions of Ukraine to Russia, Putin plans to start a "peace negotiation process." The "peace process" itself should become a screen for preparing for the annexation of the Kharkov, Nikolaev and Odessa regions of Ukraine, as well as Moldova. After the failure of the "peace talks", the Kremlin plans further aggression in order to seize the above territories AND PARALLELLY A SERIES OF HYBRID OPERATIONS IN EUROPE, with a direct threat of the use of nuclear weapons, which will come directly from the leadership of the Kremlin. To create a split in the European Union and NATO is the fixed idea of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The beginning of the war showed that the implementation of Putin's plans was failing in the very first days. Not a clear understanding of the actual events and situation, but the promises of the leadership of the military and power blocs, gives Putin confidence that these and other plans will be implemented. I must say that after the failure of the start of the war, Putin has almost completely recovered and, having replaced part of the initial military leadership of the operation, including Gerasimov and Shoigu, who only nominally remain in their posts, he hopes for the success promised by the new leadership. Putin is still confident that he can outplay and win everyone, and he does not care about objective reality. Yes, and so, for a general understanding, the threat of a nuclear strike is the higher, the closer Putin is to the implementation of his plans, when he will be able to put a winning point with this, and vice versa, the closer the failure of his plans, the more unpromising and senseless is the use of nuclear weapons as for Putin himself, and for his entourage, which will play a significant role in the adoption and implementation of this decision. Not to understand this means not to know Putin at all. Let's turn to some Western politicians: sometimes you should trust your intelligence, and not your fears, which are easy to confuse with rationality. GENERALL SVR, [26/05/2022 08:18] Dear subscribers and guests of the channel! We know and affirm that yesterday Russian President Vladimir Putin did NOT visit the Mandryk Central Military Clinical Hospital in Moscow and did NOT communicate with Russian servicemen who were injured during a special military operation. We have already said that "canned food" was prepared, an imitation of the movements of the president and the passage of an understudy in front of the public. Putin and the FSO, of course, are master illusionists, but they are still far from the glory of David Copperfield.

Mightier Than The Pen Making The World A Bitter Place Study Links Graffiti to Small Penis Size New York, June 15 (AP) – Researchers at Columbia University have determined that the propensity to engage in graffiti vandalism has an inversely proportionate relationship to penis size, according to an article in the August Issue of the Journal Science. In a study titled The Scale of Male Endowment as Reflected by Vandalism, the study authors note a very close correlation between a smaller-than-average penis and multiple instances of crude or repetitive graffiti. Reviewing arrest records and anatomical information for individuals convicted of graffiti vandalism in the New York City area for the years 2007-2012, the researchers found that the median length of male members of those individuals was 40% shorter than the median length of the general population. Even more striking, said Dr. Sy Zmatters, the lead author and head of Columbia University’s graduate-level Anthropology Department, the extent to which any individual engaged in graffiti vandalism directly reflected relative penis length. “We found that the more prolific taggers were even more poorly endowed than those who had been convicted of only one or two vandalism violations,” he noted. N. Largement, a Princeton University anthropologist not involved in the study, praised the report as an important piece of information in piecing together the complex web of human psychology as it has developed over the ages. “We knew, anecdotally, that certain behaviors represent a compensation mechanism for those males insecure in the measurements of their manhood,” he explained, handling a scale model of a monster truck on his office desk. “But it has never before been so clearly quantified.” A further nuance of the study involves different types of graffiti. Vandals who prolifically sprayed only words, gang signs, or other relatively crude symbols constituted the most poorly endowed subgroup of the population under observation, while those whose graffiti involved artistic expression, political criticism, or a message of some social value fell more closely in line with the national average. Largement noted that the study helps complete a much larger pattern of what he called manhood deficiency compensatory behavior, which had previously been described for much smaller segments of the population. For example, assault rifle ownership has been strongly correlated with a smaller penis, as has the frequent or highly visible use of muscle cars. Sports fans who paint their bodies and engage in rowdy displays of devotion have been similarly shown to have shorter than average penises; these behaviors has been explained as an attempt to mask their insecurity over penis size by associating themselves with a larger, more powerful, and overtly masculine enterprise.

Yep I cant believe those statista figures. I reckon it must be 'number of weapons registered in 2021' rather than 'number of registered weapons in 2021'

tbh I thought it would be way more than 1 in 28 in both states.

Can't believe anyone is still peddling this line. No-one ever cared about cake or curry - they care about a PM who people have learnt is an inveterate liar, is unable to lead by example and is so arrogant he thinks he should be given a free pass and not step down. -

By suitable they mean "bland vaniila the majority of both factions can reluctantly agree on and not rip open the massively deep divisions in the party". -
Interesting that Texas has over 1 million licensed guns whereas Alaska, which in the many remote areas has genuine threats to life from antsy wildlife like Grizzly and polar bears, moose and bison etc has only 28,000

YSadly true. Ukraine is also reporting that much of the aid promised never arrives.

Russia is making some territorial gains atm. This vid of more tanks rolling into Ukraine is depressing - but its also an example of deeply thery are scraping the barrel. Those are T62s, first made in 1961 and obsolete by 1975.

It's a valid point. Patel claimed one of the principal advantages of the Rwandan svheme was a deterrent effect on people crossing the Channel. -
Seems a bit extreme. We didn't have to do that for covid.

Especially a minor trial at the Royal Courts of Justice in the Strand, where only about 0.01% of the 1.2 million civil cases each year end up. -
Its a low price but as the article says also a low volume. I think Britian only holds about a weeks supply of gas so its not meaningful. Even if you did burn that weeks supply all it would do is drive the price up. Its like one petrol station cutting prices because it has a delivery waiting and the storage tanks are full.
