  1. The one on the left is alive and the one on the right is dead soooo....
  2. He has started talking more about policy but its very rote and unconvincing. Supposedly for months he had been ignoring his teams advice to focus on policy rather than juvenile insults against Biden / Harris / everybody who ever lived. But Biden dropping out deprived him of his main viable target. Even Kennedy switching over to Trump wont help him imo
  3. If you've seen him at the last few rallys its obvious he's lost the will / drive / belief / whatever it is to win
  4. Even if you dont want to stay away for ever its great to have the flexibility. For example I fancy spending year in the north of Norway, see the Northern lights regularly, lots of log fires and driving in snow and see the Lofoten islands - and then come back. Maybe follow it up with a year in Umbria.
  5. Not sure it was gloating - more incredulity that someone rich and successful would throw their lives away because they didn't do even basic due diligence of the sub, safety and company.
  6. Exactly. A bunch of my friends spent a gap year before university bulb planting in Netherlands, grape, strawberry and olive picking in Italy and France and renting out canoes in Croatia - a free tour of Europe, free accommodation and some money in your pocket. My daughter's gap year is working in a care home just to pay for a three week holiday instead. I know who got the better experience. I'll probably retire to France at some point (thanks to access to a Irish passport) - sell my house here, buy a better one for half the cost and use the banked money for a good retirement. Those two beginning and end of life perks alone made the EU well worth it, apart from all the trade and other benefits.
  7. My ex is Swedish. If it wasnt for freedom of movement my kids wouldnt have been born.
  8. I used to be ginge and found it hard to get laid. But since my 30s white hairs have mixed in and now Im genuine blond. It easier now in my 50s than 20s. Bizzarro (but welcome)
  9. No recommendations but a list to work from.... https://encoremusicians.com/hire/soul-&-motown-bands/southampton
  10. Not sure if you mean me. My recollection is that you made threats online and when I gave you my phone number you called and begged me not to undermine the sale of your company which was going through due diligence according to you. I still have your messages if necessary. How did that pan out in the end?
  11. We didnt actually leave until January 31st 2020 and yes there was an immediate severe recession - which obviously coincided with the Covid pandemic and lockdown. Exactly how much was due to each is moot - but we did have a much bigger dip than other comparable countries.
  12. Haha. I can suffer if. She's up near you so you never know, you might meet over a trolley.
  13. That good no longer fantastic pension she pays 11% of her salary into
  14. Did I say she was complaining? She is working up north atm and renting a 2 bed house for £850pm 10 minutes from the hospital so has a decent lifestyle. In London and most of the south you cant expect qualified doctors to be happy doing a 12.5 hour shift then having to travel and hour back to a crappy room in a shared house.
  15. Exactly. OP being very misleading. My missus is a junior doctor. She is currently on the resuscitation team in A&E - literally bringing people back from the dead. She gets £46,000pa for a 46 hour week which pro-rated to the 37 hours most people work is only £37,000 pa. But she also works shifts- including 12.5 hour nights, weekends, bank holidays and evenings. Assuming a norm of say 25% extra for shift work that means her equivalent salary without shift premium is £29,500. Don't know about you but I don't think £29,500 pa after 5 years of med school and two years of work is too much for 37 hours of restarting peoples hearts.
  16. I've had to re-read it three times sure I must be missing something, but nope, I agree with it all 😱

    Russia

Ive got a Russian doctor friend who has always been pretty pro Putin. Hadnt spoken to her for a couple of years. She just asked me if I could help her emigrate. Her son already emigrated to Australia a few years ago and now her daughter has just got residency in France. Feels like a sinking ship.
  18. That apparently is what she wants - to serve a prison sentence rather than cough up the money from future earnings.
  19. She's largely right though. The US was made great by a business culture which rewarded individual innovation and business growth. That has largely been lost. Meritocracy and concern for local communities is dying, replaced by corporate capitalism which, by law cannot consider any factors other than return for shareholders. This makes them akin to psychopaths in that they only consider profits and not social impacts. This is a reasonable summary “they determine what we eat, what we watch, what we wear, where we work, and what we do”. Over 70% of the largest 100 economic entities in the world are corporations rather than states making them the dominant economic institution in the world today.
  20. "I think Trump’s a fraud. I don’t think he actually cares about folks. I can’t stomach Trump. I think that he’s noxious and is leading the white working class to a very dark place". That's not some random democrat in the street - that's Vance his running mate! https://x.com/i/status/1821166728237199572

    Russia

You should watch this - Yevgeny Fedorov, a State Duma deputy from United Russia, Putin's own party . https://x.com/i/status/1817531921930273150

    Russia

Full of shit and also constantly changes his mind depending on what the last person he spoke to said to him. Apparently the armed forces and CIA are convinced he and Vance will come around on Ukraine once they've been briefed in detail.

    Russia

Chimes exactly with what Ive read. Essentially avoid a direct NATO v Russia conflict at any costs and instead gradually throttle them and weaken them until they cant support both war effort and the life the civilian population expect anymore. Russia on its trajectory pre 2022 was doomed anyway. Vast country, terrible birth rate and hostile to immigrants. The excellent education system of the Soviet Union is long gone and with it the scientists necessary for high tech innovation. As Obama said 15 years or so ago its just a gas station with nukes and its only got worse since.
  24. They may be distancing themselves from Project 25 but Agenda 47 - Trumps official manifesto isnt miles away from it. It still gives him much more power to fire anybody he doesnt like
