I knew gun violence in the US was bad, but had no idea it was still increasing, and fast. Pretty all categories of death show increases, except defensive shootings which are decreasing. That gives the lie to the argument that arming people protects them.

This is absolutely bizarre bottom of the equipment barrel scraping. 1930s! Who stores stuff for 100 years just in case you need it one day??

I think Johnny would support this bit from the link. Gotta smash those who stand in the way of happiness for all. Good should have fists. Good needs an iron hand To tear the skin from those Who threaten it.

Jimmy Dore is a conspiracy nut who supports the Chinese, Syrian and Russian regimes. I remember you Johnnyboy as being naive but idealistic. When did you turn into a useful idiot hater?

The United Kingdom and the Death of Boris Johnson as we know it.
buctootim replied to CB Fry's topic in The Lounge
He's going to claim he was misled by advisers / civil servants and only repeated to HoC the advice he was given. Not my fault guv. -
Depends whether you'd prepped and made sandwiches

Tbh as long as they only publish pictures of people I've never heard of, who were in shows I've never heard of, I'm fine with it.

A lot of British people appear to be out of control and ill too https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/14483393.battle-after-bursledon-parish-council-barred-from-lowford-community-centre/ https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/14489935.eastleigh-council-chiefs-at-centre-of-row-over-bursledon-parish-councils-lowford-centre/

Is it more or less immoral if you run off without paying?

Useless dishonest shower. The current debt is entirely due to the Tories and covid. They own this debt. Labour repaid debt during most of 1997-2010. Until the worst global financial crisis starting 2007 Labour had lower debt than they inherited from te Tories in 1997. They left office in 2010 with a budget deficit of 8.8% and debt to GDP of 77%. Cameron and May did slowly bring the budget deficit down to 1.5% of GDP (£32 billion) by 2018 but never reduced total national debt. Johnson drove the deficit back up to 11.7% in 2020 and its still around 7% and £177 billion. Total national debt over 100%

Yep quite, that was Stewart's main thesis - if the Government acts to protect children in other areas, controls immigration for public benefit and requires registration to vote why the hell should guns be unregulated? His point wasn't really about drag queens, it was a wider one that if you can infringe right to free speech in order to protect children from a non deadly threat why cant you act to protect them from the leading cause of child death?

The best reasoned, best argued take down of the unrestricted uninfringed right to bear arms Ive seen. Interestingly Twitter will not allow videos on this issue to be embedded... https://twitter.com/i/status/1631610370887491584

Roof Replacement in a Maisonette - Requesting Advice
buctootim replied to Colinjb's topic in The Lounge
This. I used to live in conservation area and needed planning permission to change anything, even the colour of the exterior paint. So if , for example, you currently have a slate roof, you might not be able to replace with red tiles. -
The Unionist vote has been dropping for a decade or more, and even Unionists voters are rarely the headbangers of old. They simply cant bring themselves to vote for the other leading party - Sinn Fein. I suspect if you had Labour and Tory party candidates and candidates from Fine Gael and Fine Fail you'd get totally different voting patterns. You wouldbt be alble to read across Unionist = Tory / Labour and nationalists = Fine Gael / Fine Fail.

Some truth in that but its not as simple as you make out. Ultimately most people vote for whatever system will give them better lives and opportunity. In the past, before the republic became a tech centre and corporate tax haven that was the UK. Now with higher wages in the south and membership of the EU it reversed. Relatively few care more about the tricolour / Union Jack or the Pope v King Billy than their quality of lives.

Even Hostonel was a sign though of things to come. The elite paratroopers were destroyed within 12 hours by a part time unit that is the equiavsmt of Britain’s territorial army.

I see Deutche made another £5bn profit last year. Any moment now Europe will implode I tell thee.

Steve Grant was selling them for a fiver a while ago. Could get 10 virgins for £50

He's done well. Really hope he decides not to run again though and the Democrats find someone good to replace him. Can't be that hard surely

The point is that the magazine has a history of being used by Russia for propaganda. Yet Johnny holds it up as independent . As always he has a simplistic view of the world

Is that one of Alice Donovan’s stories? You know her- the Counterpunch author who turned out to be a Russian Government employee and the organiser behind pro Russian and Bashad propaganda in Syria
