  1. I love the irony that (at the time I read it) in the list of thread titles this one was immediately followed by one titled "Best of luck with this" LoL
  2. Nothing. We don't need to sell him, he doesn't want to leave.
  3. Not for me. She appears to bite off her conquests ******** and carry them round in a jug of formaldehyde !

    History

History gives a sense of what the club is all about, not just trophies but the way the club was started/grew/became what it is, and also how neutrals perceive it to be. In that aspect I'd definitely sooner be a Scummer than a Skate. But equally, probably more important is the future - if it was just about history there would be no point in playing any more games. Ask any Saints and (sensible) Pompey fans how confident they are about a) their next match, b) the rest of this season and c) the next 5 years and I have a sneaky suspicion who will come out top in all 3.
  5. Using the "Custom Table" option, based on games since 12/9/10 - Adkins appointment - we are top of the league
  6. Only if specifically requested, normally it's paid to the tenant nowadays (by the local council, not the government) . Plus even if it's paid direct to the landlord if there are any mistakes and/or fraudulent payments made it will be recovered from the landlord for quite a long period after the payment was made even though he will probably be totally unaware that anything is/was wrong with the payment
  7. The Chapel as the home singing end should be a no brainer. It's a simple matter of acoustics. If you want to drown out the opposition you do it by singing in greater numbers FACING THEM. Singing from the Northam facing the same way as the opposition simply doesn't work.
  8. Have done it both ways in the past. It's worth paying an agent for finding a tenant and collecting the rent, so far none they have found have left me with arrears, whereas one or two found without agents have. Plus they have always got a higher rent than I'd have asked for myself so effectively they pay for themselves. Not worth paying them to sort out problems if you're local though - as mentioned above half the time they still contact you about it anyway, plus they take a commission on the jobs so the rates charged are usually higher than you could get yourself.

    Ormerod

Was listening on Radio 5. The commentary team were shocked - in a pleasant way - at the "standing ovation from all 4 sides of the ground" as BO went off. Well deserved IMO.
  10. The ref is from Hampshire - hopefully a few "homer" decisions our way then
  11. Course he is. Any decent ref would have just got both teams to keep it 10 yards in from the wings so no-one gets hurt
  12. But that leaves it so late it'll be re-freezing again before the game ends
  13. What they both said.
  14. Not to mention the subliminal message sent out to all of those teams players "look at our facilities, does your club have all this? remember it next time you fancy a move to a big club"
  15. Can't be that. My wife has two eyebrows but only one muff. I'll guess at knees

    Oxymorons

Tesco - helping you spend less.
  17. And therein lies the problem. We've always had - and always will have - colloquialisms, dialects, and slang. Forum talk / textspeak are just new versions of that and they have their place. But anyone using them still needs to know the correct English and be able to use it when required. Without that central point of reference we could soon get to the stage where we are unable to converse. An example I know one person who used "cd" in texts to mean "could" whilst someone else uses "cld". I read both as "could". As long as we all know that it means "could" then not a problem but if, a couple of generations down the line the descendants on one only ever us cd because they think it's actually the correct way of spelling it, and the others descendants always use "cld" for the same reason then the two won't have a clue what each other are talking about.
  18. Course not. When you've had one Chinese half hour later you always want another one
  19. The map is just what was dropped over 2 nights not the entire was - there was plenty more to come
  20. Ditto
  21. So if that's not outright racism what is? Yet you consider it an "issue about which they have no concern" I'll ask again what Dune is asking, why aren't the UAF protesting against this ?
  22. Why? He hasn't claimed that. He's stated - correctly - that they turn a blind eye to them i.e decline to criticise them whilst objecting to other forms of extremism / racism. That's not the same as openly supporting them, although sometimes silence can speak volumes.
  23. I guess only time will tell, but I think a lot of people think of them as the same thing. I have a poppy collection tin in my shop every year, so far this year there seems to be more people putting money in than recent years. Also more kids seem interested in what it's about rather than just asking mum or Dad a poppy because it's there. Also had 2 French women come in purely to buy poppies because they'd seen the sticker in the window, they fully understood what it represented.
  24. To be fair I don't think he has either. Benjii's argument makes about as much sense as saying we shouldn't ignore people who try and stop others from wearing those red ribbons on World Aids Day because by doing so they are encouraging homosexuality. Poppies are a way of showing support for soldiers who are in a position to need our help because they have become injured/disabled/whatever whilst serving our country. Doesn't matter if it happened in a world war, The Falklands, Iraq or a training exercise, the soldier is affected just the same
