  1. Hope he remembers to use the Portsea dollar exchange rate and multiplies his claim by 50, so when he eventually gets his 2p in the pound it'll still be what he was expecting.
  2. Reverse angle view
  3. After reading the article and this thread I'd say the biggest reassurance that the club can get that they are doing things the right way is that the likes of BS and CBS feel the need to criticise it.
  4. Still my first pick for any all time Saints XI
  5. "He said the 49-year-old, who had two spells at Fratton Park as a player, had failed to deliver the agreed success on the pitch, despite the board breaking their budget to meet his requests. " Breaking the budget? Pompey? Surely not ! And so it goes on ..... and on ........... It's starting to look like Galifrey surrounded by Daleks down Portsea way. And as we all now know, there was only one way that could be saved. (Well that and a bit of rewriting of history but then that's a favourite of theirs as well)
  6. To be fair whether The9 had a word or not I think the round of applause goes to good old common sense,
  7. Not really. Alan Hansen would have worked it all out in no time, he's just never given a long enough analysis slot to explain it all.;-)
  8. Maybe (and I say maybe as I'm guessing) it's because for the first part of Labours tenure we were "in credit" so first they spent all that and only had to start borrowing once they had blown it all. Tories have had to start from an "already considerably overdrawn" situation so have had to carry on borrowing whilst also trying to repay some of the deficit.
  9. Definitely not . We were attacking, Jim Steele was our last man back on about the half way line received either a clearance or a pass back to him but miscontrolled it in the mud and their striker nipped it off his toes and had a clear run at goal. Heartbreaking, especially as we were playing against 11 Belgians AND an East German referee and still looked the more likely to go through till that happened.
  10. Anderlecht's aggregate winning goal in the 76/77 ECWC tie at The Dell :-(
  11. Have I got this right? You've met a girl called Catherine Hill from Winchester, and you want to go up her at night?
  12. There is something to be said for that approach. Nearly all foreigners who come here to play at club level admit it takes about 6 weeks to adjust to the speed and physical demands of our game. So when it comes to Internationals what do we do? Slow it done and try and play it their way. Let's face it, we're definitely NOT going to come back from Brazil with the cup with that approach so why not go back to basics and at least scare the **** out of a few teams.
  13. Hello, Hello, England reject England reject Hello
  14. That's the trouble with the modern generation, they want everything handed to them on a plate. He's taken us to 3rd in the PL FFS. It's not a case of when will he speak English, it's how quickly can we all learn Spanish.
  15. But BBC breakfast pointed out that today - 9/11/13 is the last day made up of consecutive odd numbers until 1st March 2105. Far more interesting than the OP.
  16. Out for a meal the other day I overheard from the other end of the table " .... it was a grand but at least I'm a part owner of my club ....." I was about to poke my nose in with an " and you REALLY believe that ?!?!" when I realised I couldn't remember the exact details. So in preparation for when I bump into the guy again, someone remind me what exactly it was the foolish few got (or didn't get) for their "investment" in the trust

No blame at all. CHs covered it all the way back. Keeper in right position to take it comfortably. Wind simply lifted it way over him after the bounce. Only possible criticism was maybe being the first high ball in the wind he should have stayed on his line just to "get his eye in" regarding the conditions but that is just nit picking, no way could he have expected THAT bounce.
  18. Not if Brighton Bournemouth and Reading all come up. (That is NOT a prediction btw)
  19. The solution would be for them to decide what gives the best outcome for them and their family. I accept that their situation was unfortunate, and would be even more so if a max 2 qualifying children was implemented. BUT doesn't matter what situations are implemented in any walk of life there will always be some who lose out. It's unfortunate to lose a job, be born with a disability, be 11th in line for an emergency operation when the hospital can only handle 10 a day, the list is endless. We will NEVER live in a world where someone somewhere isn't disadvantaged by something. On the whole only paying CB for max 2 children sounds a fair system, (provided it is only amended for future births, not existing children) until there comes a time that our population needs to expand (unlikely, barring major war or uncontrollable disease) and then it could be increased to encourage extra births.
  20. Twins not a problem. Just pay a maximum 2 children. Doesn't really matter how/when born. One of Barry's better posts.
  21. It's not really a projection though is it? Using that word is a bit of a red herring. It's the actual points earned in the most recent 38 games played against our 19 opponents once each at home and away. So every week that figure is subject to change as the newest game gets added but the previous matching fixture gets removed. Taken as a snapshot it's not particularly relevant but followed weekly it'll give a good insight to who is improving (that'll be us then) and who's going the other way.
  22. This is not "new news". This is something the press have suddenly been brave enough to print after law suits and threats from the McCanns originally resulted in our "free press" all deciding to support the McCanns and their version of events in every way possible. Why, NOW, are the e-fits suddenly being made public? Is the net closing in? Are they trying to force/panic the McCann's into a mistake? I guess no-one knows for sure how they would react to any given situation till it happens, but I am 99.9% certain that if I had lost my daughter I would want every single snippet of info that might help trace her out there in the public eye immediately, not suppressed. I'm also pretty sure I'd want to be in the area of every possible reported sighting as soon as possible to help with any follow ups and be there if she was found, wherever in the world they came from and however tenuous the report sounds. I can't imagine for one minute I would consider any report not worth following up.
  23. Whilst I understand where The9 is coming from and actually agree with his comments regarding the meaning, does it ****ing matter? Football chants/songs are about a feeling of togetherness and creating an atmosphere, they don't need to be grammatically and/or factually correct. If Pompey Scum was only sung by those who were REALLY told by their mothers to wash their mouth out and go and fetch their father's gun I doubt it would have caught on. It could be argued that Pompey consider us small, so "This is what it's like to be small" is meant ironically, throwing their opinions back in their faces from the lofty heights of 3rd in the PL, (yep, we really are small-time  ). Personally can't see why we bother singing anything about Pompey unless we're playing them but this new song is much better than Pompey scum and if it gets plenty joining in then stick with it. Having said that, I hope someone is working on a new song to replace it for when Guy is sacked and replaced by someone without a 3 syllable surname.
  24. We were 2500-1 when I got my bet on. That's a huge drop in relatively few games.

I'm sure I remember the Ineos founder Jim Ratcliffe's name being bandied about back in takeover speculation days. Can't recall if there was anything in the rumours or if it was a clutching at straws name any local rich man type rumour. Hopefully this will make a few other unions wake up, saving most jobs or taking a pay cut is better than no jobs at all. The news mentioned an average salary at the plant of £55k !
