  1. I am surprised by that. Can't say I'm not pleased though
  2. He's made the common mistake of assuming that they would have been planning that far ahead. 3 years? Anything beyond the next 3 games is just a bonus.

  4. Good but not so thumbs-uppy. 20/1 squad, 66/1 starts first game on SkyBet NOW.
  5. Good point, but to be fair, at the time we were for sale I doubt any financial institution would have lent 14p let alone £14m to buy a 3rd division football club. His only option was to find someone with the readies available.
  6. Going slightly off thread but if the club can make £25 on a £35 cover price suggesting you only charge them £10 for it, why aren't you selling them yourselves on Amazon at say £19.99 and make yourselves a tenner a copy (less amazon expenses) more than if it sold in club shop. At that price I'd have clicked the buy with one click button without hesitating, when I saw one in Waterstones at £35 I didn't even look inside.I doubt I'm the only one.
  7. How come MLT hasn't linked to THIS STORY from only a week ago to back up his claim.? Having said that, they have shown a bit more interest in the Woolston site than that story makes out. And Dalian Wanda are into football, they sponsor the Chinese league. And they are investing heavily in the UK. Who knows, maybe MLT got it right accidentally
  8. What he said last May made sense then, he hadn't been here long and was to be fair still finding his feet both on and off the pitch. Now he's settled why would he want to go now?
  9. Oi - he follows my daughter

    Itchen Bridge

Should .... but looks like they'll have to be quick off the mark. If I understand it right a cyclist turning right off the bridge towards the stadium has to wait in the blue box at 7o'clock position? Then proceed when lights are green from Saltmarsh Rd and - unless it's 4 way lights which is going to cause massive tailbacks again - Albert Rd North. Any dawdling and they're in the way of right turning green light traffic. Same applies for any right turn from all 4 directions. Maybe there will be a green cyclist light for a few seconds before the cars get a green, safe but again extending delays. And what are the 4 white rectangles?

Here's what they are doing. Scroll down to the "How the junction will work" description. Someone tell me how that isn't a recipe for disaster !
  12. Just finished reading Rollover - on kindle for those who were waiting - great read, decent plot with some good twists. A book I'd recommend reading, the many local references make it very easy to picture certain scenes in your mind and add an extra element of interest.
  13. Interesting article. I've read GLS's view on this before but not in that much detail. it must have been hell for him to deal with, but I think it was the fact that everyone knew he WASN'T gay and it annoyed him that he got so much stick for it. It was clear that it riled him and in a dressing room situation team-mates will always look for the chink in the armour for their ****-taking and opponents will look for it for winding up purposes. I'd hazard a guess that instead of getting angry he'd thrown it back at them by turning up for training in a dress one day for a joke that would have been the end of it. Most people - even footballers know where to draw the line and I'm sure if he - or any other player - had been openly gay - he wouldn't have got a fraction of the stick that he did get. Interesting that he says the abuse generally dropped off after the Fowler incident, probably because most - players and fans alike - could see that that was a step too far.
  14. Perfect description, that's the one. Not Dodd at all then. And seeing that annoyingly edited Swindon game video above pretty sure that was the right game.
  15. You could well be right there, Dodd and Kenna not Benali. Pretty sure it was an evening game as well.
  16. Anyone remember a funny little dance routine between Dodd and (I think) Benali performed after a goal at The Dell. Can't remember match. Seemed to involve some mutual finger dancing. Any video of it out there?

  18. As opposed to really tough towns where people have to get murdered 2 or 3 times before they'll lay down and die.
  19. Comment on twitter sums it up
  20. Isn't that the point though. That would be saying he looked like the golliwog. Not that the golliwog looked like him. I had one as a child. I never once considered that it represented any form of human, black or otherwise, any more than a teddy bear was meant to represent a real bear. It was just, plain and simply, a toy (and one of my favourites I seem to remember - no, not a "some of my best toys were black" claim), If the toy came first and the word "wog" derived from golliwog then the word "wog" is wrong, just as ****** or paki is wrong. But can't see that that is any fault of existence of the toy. BTW, do a google image search of "traditional voodoo dolls". Despite coming from a "black" culture, a very high percentage of these are white. Should we be offended? I'm certainly not.
  21. Isn't that how most tramps carry around their worldly belongings?
  22. My wife also works at an Infant school. If a child is known to have vomited or have diarrhoea they are made to stay away for at least 48 hours. So are you saying a few bouts of sickness could put their future in jeopardy? God help any poor kid unfortunate enough to catch chickenpox ! If a holidays is nothing more than sitting round a hotel pool then it has no value. But (provided it doesn't conflict with exams or their build up) a week or two giving a child a chance to experience a different language, climate, cuisine, architecture, culture and general way of life in a foreign place can prove a much more worth while "life lesson" than any random 2 weeks of school life can give.
  23. They just need a little patience until their youth team players come through. They what? 7-0? Really? OK then, they're ****ed.
  24. We don't need a particular day. We KNOW we are English, that's good enough for us. Every time another country has one (which must cover a fair chunk of the calendar) we can celebrate the fact that we are not them. If we did have a Public Holiday for a National Day I'd suggest the Queen's "official" birthday (as opposed to her actual one) would be more appropriate than some nominally adopted saints day. Incidentally what exactly is the 1st of May one meant to celebrate/commemorate? That one always seems a waste of a day off, stuck between Easter and Whitsun or whatever the end of May one is called now.
  25. McInnes :" Sho I says to Rishie, Rishie I says, why don't you come an be our maganer ... manger ... coach ....
