The first reason is principle. In the power dynamic, the people should have primacy, then the government. Governments work for the people, demanding people carry ID flips this dynamic. The thing about this election, people wanted the Tories out up and down the country because of all the shit they've dished up, also people weren't really excited by Labours limited offer.
