Didn't win but at least we stopped Stoke pulling away. We're in a dog fight and every point counts. I've grasped that straw and holding it tight. Saints aren't down yet and still in the fight. I'm not giving up. No Holberg or JWP. The latter creates chances and we have precious few of them. Instead we watch Tadic mince around for 60 mins. Holberg occupies the middle ground and goes forward. Romeo plays too deep and slows the play down. Long and Gabbi should start, the new guy just doesn't do enough. So we have poor team selection, iffy subs, and a lethargic slow build up that lets the opposition set out their zonal marking comfortably. Now i wonder who is responsible for that. The one saving grace is that Saints are hard to beat at the moment and definetely better away from home. There is some hope.... Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

I didn't see anything in the 60s and even in the 70s i stood on the Archers road with Pompey fans. None of the nonsense got going until the TV carried shock stories and it built from there. Rules were clear. If you looked for it you inevitably found it but it was easily avoided. I remember Utd fans swarming up Hill Lane. Jumping on cars and having punch ups. We just walked back to my Grandmas ignoring the chaos around us. A couple of times it got hectic at away games. WBA was by far the worse. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

What's the matter with you all. We aren't very good that's obvious and in a relegation scrap. A point away from home is good enough at this stage. Saints creep up the table and have the ability to to do serious damage against Stoke next week and then Newcastle. Need to have a bit of belief.... this is not a drill

FA Cup Qtr Final Saints v Wigan or Man City AWAy
macca155 replied to John Boy Saint's topic in The Saints
If we aim to win the cup have to beat at least one of the top 4 at some time. I don't fear City. So what if they have a team worth zillions , football has a knack of kicking teams like that in the arse. May be rare but it happens. At least it's away so some pressure will be off Saints. No way was that draw fixed. They now have 4 low value ties, so, no big advertising game for TV in this round. Plus the armageddon scenario of all four going out. Bring it on [emoji16] Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk -
Passion comes as a reaction to what's on the pitch end of. We all know it and the current ghastly anaemic football we are watching just kills it. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Nothing but stomping up £700 in May is tougher for some than others. The club should allow interest free monthly payments at the very least. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Doesn't matter what league, Saints are my team, and I'll want to see them play wherever they play. The season ticket simply provides a cheaper ticket because i'm going anyway and gives me first dibs on away/cup tickets. Plus it guarantees a decent seat hard fought for over 52 years. It has nothing to do with my credentials as a fan. The luke warm, one or two matches a year fan, is for those 90 minutes my comrade in arms. As long as he, she, or undecided, isn't wearing a half & half scarf or leaves early then we share the same pain. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

I think we have to remember he's new to the Premier League. It is a ruthless competition and it was always going to take hime time. I'm still unconvinced, that sub against Brighton was terrible management, but maybe just maybe he is learning that you cannot just defend in this league. It is a start lets enjoy it Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Hey it wasn't that bad. Nice to see a win. Saints controlled the game and really should have been 2 or 3 nill up after 60 mins. Not happy with the injuries that could hurt us. I get why MP brought on Yoshida, sensible really. Cup games always end like that. However it should have been for Cedric who was one leg by then. Add Lemina for Davis and its game over for Watford. Why can't he see it? What's the matter with him. In other news did anyone else notice how well Kabesela played. He really caught the eye. He had no support, so was a bit stretched but put a real shift in. He had a row with the Watford fans at the end so clearly not happy. I'd be happy to see him in red and white. Worth a cheeky bid maybe. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

An excellent performance from him today. Ian wright on 5live was singing his praises. Fast becoming a vital cog imo. Still be haters sadly Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

No it proves bad commentators have no place on the BBC. Plenty of iffy male ones on there as well Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

He was ok certainly for someone who hasn't played for a while. He really does seem to have been harshly judged before having a decent chance to shine. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Good post spot on and exactly where i am. A poor appointment as there was better around at the time. However we are where we are. You can't keep sacking managers without dealing with the other factors. He is not a fool but he is frustrating. Today he took a load of grief for subbing Holberg for Lemina. Like for like nought wrong with that. What the crowd could sense was another Palace as Saints fell back. His mistake was failing to put Gabbadini on. That wound everybody up and set the tone. He needs to be brave and stop these daft substitutions. Sometimes you do have to play to the gallery. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Well I took the time to read all the posts as this is an intetesting thread. Its sad when a good debate is dragged down by personal insults. It's almost as if the poster doesn't have the confidence in their opinion, so they need to spice it up a little. Like CB Fry I don't fear relegation. Football exists beyond these rarified walls. I don't want it to happen, but it won't be the end of the world. I'm sure those running the club care deeply, and are desperately trying to rectify the situation. I guess few of us feel that MP has a future at Saints. Sacking Puel may look like a mistake, but I hated his football, so I remain comfortable with that decision. If he has learnt his lesson well good luck to him. For me a new manager would add a spark, but it would also need less back seat driving from those above. The fortunes of all clubs ebb and flow with the amount of investment and quality of leadership. Saints are no different to anyone else. We've had a great run, but i have learnt over the years to enjoy it such periods as they don't last for ever. At the moment Saints are cash rich, assett poor, and have leadership which is a bit wobbly. That makes the club very vulnerable. The only good thing is that after Bertrand, we won't have to put up with any more obnoxious sales, as the rest aren't good enough. We all know it just needs a few wins, a player to start sparking. Us fans are a fickle lot and hopeless addicts. Maybe a meaningless win over a weakened Championship side, will be the catalyst to better things. Or maybe a humiliating defeat will be a bridge too far for those in charge. Even such uncertainty is exciting. I love it see you at Fulham. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

That game was lost by MP. Terrible conditions that game was never going to be pretty. At one stage i thought it might be called off. However 1st half the players did their job. What on earth did he say at half time. Sit back give them a chance!!! Give me strength. Zaha and Boufel were both nullified. It was a night for the strong and the resolute. Hodgson knew strength was needed and made the changes. What did MP do. Took off two battling midfielders (JWP was working hard) and brings on lightweight players. The premier league is a tough league. The rules are first don't lose. When that equaliser went in he should have brought on McQueen and Lemina. Told the players to go toe to toe, accept the point keep Palace near us and move on. That's how you survive. Very unhappy and off to Fulham Saturday. That won't be pretty either. Ballotelli has scorrd 16 goals in 21 games. There was a reason City bought him. Loon yes but also fab player. I love players who are a bit mental, adds to the spectacle. Won't happen of course but imagine a team with Sturridge Walcott Ballotelli and Boufel creating havoc.... in every sense. A bit of character in the current Saints team wouldn't go amiss. Prepare for unknown 'good value' players. Just more of the same sadly. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

That hurt didn't it, you forgot 'embarrassing'. I was there today but wanted to see motd, just to check i wasn't dreaming. It isn't difficult to see where the dressing room issues are. They are blindingly obvious when you see the game live. Tadic Redmond and VVD are obvious malcontents, but add Long to that list. He was in a major sulk today frequently hanging around way offside after an attack, moaning at other players. I have my suspicions about Hoedt as well, but no evidence just a feeling. He played ok today though. Demi Ali is a great footballer and knew that Forster can't cover low shots. Cue low shot for his goal, too easy. Not overly bothered about losing, it happens, seen worse. 19 points is a reasonable start for a new manager if the club takes action now. The lack of fight and team camaraderie really bothers me. So needed in this order. New goalkeeper New right back 2 new forwards plus a recall for Gallagher 1 attacking midfielder 2 attacking wide players or use youth players. Make PEH captain he cares. Sell VVD Redmond Long and Tadic to fund nrw players Sack MP Appoint Strachan or similar for short term fix Get in some decent coaches Send Reed to China and hide his phone Instigate double training to raise fitness levels. Practise shooting first time no 2nd touch Obviously new players and manager are crucial. Maybe given that lot MP can sort it out but doubt it. Palace game is going to be intetesting. I think we all need a change of mindset. Its back to the good old days of fighting relegation. A stiffer backbone is required. 19 points is a reasonable haul by xmas for a relegation scrap. Which we are in obviously. The board will have 100 mill to spend soon. As long as they don't mess it up that should see us safe. MP has to go i suspect we are all agreed on that. Experienced hand in for the next 6 months. After that major reboot and rethink. As another poster said we shouldn't be arrogant and think we are above relegation, but neither should we be that negative about our prospects. Thetes a good team in there just needs a settled run. Cannot understand why JWP divides opinion so much. He's a good player gives 100% and is one of the few members of the squad who worries opposition managers. His deadball delivery causes panic teams pay a lot of money for that. He isn't world class and no one suggests he is. Occasionally he is lost in the game but undeserving of the criticism he receives. He played ok at Bournmouth but the game was frantic and he couldn't get into the game. Howe did a good job with his tactics. No biggy MP changed tactics and JWP at half time. Cue improvement in other games JWP comes on and gets things going. Just enjoy a British talent and encourage him. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Motm has to be stephens what a performance. The way he has been treated is disgraceful, one of stars in my opinion. He has to get games now. I thought they all played well. PEH, Romeo, and JWP did an excellent job in midfield. On the subject of JWP how can anyone say he was woeful. Put a real shift in today and was always a threat. Enjoyed that game happy with point but must beat Leicester. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Keep him, love him and make him feel wanted. I thought he played well and totally dominated the defence. However he looks lost, lonely, and struggling to find his place in the club. His ego says I'm billy big ******** give me the big time and the cash. The reality has kicked in now, he has lost the fans, I'm guessing the players as well, and I bet potential suitors will laugh at a 60 million price tag. He is one of the worlds best centre halves, I'd like to see him in red and white a while longer. Forgive and move on life is too short. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
