  1. Bizarrely amongst some of our fans on here Boruc's reputation seems to have got worse since his injury despite the performances of his deputy. Other than the Arsenal one I can't think of many glaring errors since he's been established as first choice. As far as I'm concerned he's fine as our number one for the next couple of seasons. His kicking isn't brilliant but his throwing partly makes up for that and he adds a calmness to the back four that seems to have disappeared without him.
  2. Love that. Should be shown to any manager who whines about their 'fixture pile-up'.
  3. Not this again...
  4. If we were looking to bring him in as an emergency loan due to the injuries I'd have been happy to see him come here but no real point in signing him permanently considering his wages and being of a similar age to Boruc. He also wasn't all that great last season and Green was preferred to him at times towards the end of the season. As far as I'm concerned Boruc is good for another year or two as first choice but appreciate we need better back-up. Despite our apparent need for a world class second choice keeper, realistically the sort of player we could get would be more in the Boaz Myhill or Mark Bunn mould. I.e. someone with lower league experience but respectable stand-ins for the odd game. The sort of player you'd be looking at would probably be in the 24-30 age bracket and regularly playing in the Championship/League 1. Someone like Wayne Hennessey might not be too disastrous. Still fairly young for a keeper but has had injury problems in the last couple of years and was reasonably highly rated at one stage.
  5. Just got home. Decent point. Either side could have won it but a draw seemed like a fair result to me. Pretty confident that both sides will finish in the top 10 this season. Still very worried about Gazzaniga in goal but as mentioned above he is 3rd choice so we'll have to make do for now. Lallana made a big difference when he came on. Osvaldo poor away from home again but I thought Lambert had a pretty decent game.
  6. How about when he got booed in an FA Cup hammering by Newcastle the season after the cup final?
  7. Pretty sad that the cup is now seen like this. It wasn't that long ago that we got a crowd of 26k against Bury at similar prices to this one.
  8. If you want to avoid changes you can walk the five minutes or so to Euston Square and get a direct Hammersmith and City line tube. Probably takes half an hour or so from memory.
  9. Ramirez should be on the bench at least really. I know it's not a particularly fashionable view on here but I'm not sure he really was all that bad last season? Certainly not so bad to fall out favour as spectacularly as he has done this season!
  10. I thought we did fine and the game was pretty similar to the one at Old Trafford. Restricted them to few chances and the two goals came from individual errors (it's amazing Fonte doesn't give away more penalties for shirt-pulling to be honest). Wanyama man of the match, closely followed by Rodriguez.
  11. Yep. Did his job well generally, as he did for the second half of last season as well. Perfectly reasonable 3rd/4th choice centre back for us.
  12. Yeah, thankfully I have good eyesight so I really enjoyed the view from up there last season (less so once Danny Fox came on!). Cracking view of the city as well.
  13. This. So tedious that it comes up so regularly!
  14. Got my tickets yesterday but just went on the tickets site and see we've apparently sold out already. Quite shocked by that given prices and it being on TV...wonder if we'll be able to get anymore.
  15. Chance for Isgrove or Rowe possibly? Wouldn't bother with Lee.
  16. Just checked and the usual Virgin trains out of Euston to Lime Street aren't running until 11.15 on that day (not getting in until 1404). The only one that will get you to Liverpool in time for the game includes a bus replacement to Watford and a change at Birmingham New Street...that leaves Euston at 0704 so I can't even get there for then. This will seriously inconvenience London area Everton fans. Utterly ridiculous from both clubs.
  17. Utter ****ing ****s. Booked my train tickets a couple of weeks ago.
  18. Sums up my thoughts perfectly. Very disappointing team selection tonight.
  19. Was channel hopping a week or two ago and noticed Sochaux were live on BT Sport. Thought I'd have a quick look to see how Mayuka was getting on...he was subbed off with an injury within about a minute of watching it! Got the impression from the commentators that he played fairly well until then though.
  20. Had hoped this will be the last game where they'd include last season as I'd have been guaranteed one then! Really want to go to this one as I missed it last year and it's one of only four Prem grounds left I've not been to. As the OP says though it's fair enough now given we're a few games in. I'm in the one game category, would have been two if it included Stoke. I expect there will still be some left by the time I can buy but will have to be quick...and my office computer is appallingly slow!
  21. Any goal against Pompey. In recent years the winner at Millwall stands out and the De Ridder goal at Reading away that season was pretty mental as well.
  22. Drank at The Bulls Head by Manchester Piccadilly last season. Decent enough boozer and near the station's taxi rank so easy enough to get to Old Trafford from there. Will probably head there again or find somewhere else in town.
  23. Yep, and I have the pleasure of dealing with some of those that are affected by it!
  24. Yep.
  25. Moot point but did Bolton ever finish as high as 5th? Thought it was around 7th/8th in 03/04?
