  1. That also has something to so with the fact that someone high up at EA Sports is a Saints fan.
  2. Agree it makes sense for Everton and Liverpool to share a ground as they both want/need a new one and can't afford to build one each. Also they're in the same city. Don't see the need for us to share with Pompey. Do we need a 'much larger income' to fund our development, and would sharing with Pompey give us one? We have a perfectly good (if a little dull) stadium already which could be extended by 2018 when we're in the Champions League and need to host World Cup matches. Mind you, a shared super stadium smack bang inbetween Southampton and Portsmouth would provide one positive benefit. Fareham could be bulldozed to make room.
  3. I'm getting one of these soon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Toshiba-32RV635DB-32-inch-Widescreen-Freeview/dp/B001TUYQ46/ref=cm_cr_pr_sims_t

  5. The 5 years of Hyperdub compilation. I'm especially loving Aidy's Girl's A Computer by Darkstar. Don't see what all the fuss is about with Florence & The Machine. Yes, she's got an amazing voice but her songs are cynically over produced and cleverly aimed at the sort of market that love to lap up the sort of kooky image she portrays. Her original demos are far better than anything she's released since the record companies came along waving money and promises in her face. Oh, and if I hear that cover of You've Got The Love once more on 6 Music I'm kicking my digital radio out the kitchen window. And oh again - Boomkat can prove an expensive habit.
  6. Regards the amount of time Henry had to decide whether to cheat or not, he had plenty. Cricketers facing fast bowlers have a fraction of the time Henry had and are still able to work out whether to leave the ball, or play a shot. And this is with a smaller, harder ball potentially hurtling towards their head. FIFA should have introduced retrospective punishment for cheating years ago. Henry should be banned for at least the next 3 World Cup games forcing him to miss the group stages.
  7. Had read that PBF is skint? And considering he might take home over $40 million for the Pacquaio fight I don't think it leaves him any option but to take it.
  8. QPR 2-2 Saints. Early in the 91/92 season. David Hughes scored a scissor kick to equalise near the end and my Dad got lost on the way home.
  9. Agreed. A few times when Lallana and Connolly combined around the edge of their box with quick passes on the deck we looked dangerous. The crossing, while not necessarily bad, was far too predictable and their defence dealt with it easily.
  10. Left winger is the most important position to fill at the moment. We need to stretch the midfield out more to create gaps for the strikers to play in. It's also vitally important to buy one who tracks back as a lot of the goals we concede come down our left because of the huge gaps. Lallana should either play next to Hammond, or just off Lambert in a 4-4-2. I think Lallana could do a decent job in a 2 man CM partnership with Hammond. He does get stuck in and at one point yesterday was our most active player when Brighton had the ball.
  11. Used to love it in there, especially when they brought out plates loaded with free samosas. Mmmm.
  12. In a way it might be nice not to go up so we can walk the league with a record points tally next season.
  13. Phil Warner was quite bad. Didn't he get subbed during the first half against Arsenal at Highbury after being torn apart by Limpar?
  14. I'd imagine BBC will transfer between BBC 1 and 2 depending on the time of day. If C4 win the rights then there's no problem as the viewing figures for the cricket will outstrip anything their normal daytime schedule will get, although at the moment there's no way they could afford to bid for it. As for Five, won't everyone be able to get it through digital tv by then? Free to air Ashes is great for the game. More people see it, more people will play it. You'll probably also see a knock on to the county games (apart from the championship games that clash with the Ashes as everyone will be at home watching that!) OK so the ECB will lose money but surely some of this can be recouped through the extra visibility team sponsorship will receive over an Ashes summer. Also, anything that annoys Sky is fine by me.
  15. One Lallana, two Lallana, three Lallana. four He's got more skills than Maradona He's the best footballer in League One And when he scores, we'll be having fun Lallana, na, na, na, na Lallana, na, na, na, na etc
  16. Maybe this: Oh no, now you're f*cked. look who's coming on It's super David Connolly, He shoots, he scores, we've won Could substitute 'super' for 'only'.
  17. When I say fight Wladimir first, I mean after Ruiz.
  18. Haye will fight Ruiz next, he said so in a press conference earlier. Makes sense too. Ruiz has been world champ 2 or 3 times, is promoted by Don King and is American. This means Haye will get more exposure Stateside even though the fight will probably be at the o2 in London. I'd like to see Haye fight Wladimir first as it's by far the easiest fight of the brothers. Wlad is quicker than his older brother Vitali but has a pretty weak chin. Check out his loss to Corrie Sanders to see what happens when he gets tagged with a decent punch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YboPBVOHn9Q Haye should beat Ruiz comfortably, but will then probably fight Vitali in a much more difficult fight. Dr Ironfist (yeah, really) has a much better chin than his brother and hits a lot harder. Even though he'll be 39 by then I think Haye will struggle to get past Vitali's defence and end up getting KO'd.
  19. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/nov/06/premier-league-agents-payments-players More from today's Guardian about Pompey. They really do love them! It's the second article down, although I feel their stats from the first may make for interesting reading when released.

    Leyton Orient

Selhurst Park was the nearest top-flight ground to where I lived in the early to mid 90's, so when not watching Saints I'd often pop along to see Wimbledon. And yes, attendances were often just over 4000. Even for the visits of the bigger teams it was still possible to get tickets on the day. Remember seeing Saints win 2-1 there. Matty scored the winner and a useful looking young sub called Jason Euell came on for Wimbledon and banged in a 20 yard scissor kick. Whatever happened to him?

  22. The good thing about our squad now is that we have the capability to change formation effectively during the game, plus a manager who's not scared to do so. At the start of the season the squad did not really allow this. Also, our formation depends on how the opposition approach the game. So sometimes 4-5-1 will work, in other games it'll be 4-4-2. Unless you are a top Premiership team with an abundance of star players it's nigh on impossible to play the same formation week in week out for 90 mins and expect to win.

    Graham Baker

I saw Woking play on Saturday. The ref went off, and with no 4th official a fat middle aged Maidstone fan ran the line for the last 15 mins. He gave Woking's match clinching 2nd goal onside when it quite clearly wasn't. The doofus. Graham Baker was most definitely Woking's manager.
  25. Will they find that many well behaved children in the area?
