  1. This thread is ridiculous. Lallana is a very good player who will only get better. Just because he doesn't play to the best of his ability for every second of every game doesn't mean he should be dropped. Some people really need to get a grip.
  2. It's all just being dragged out so they can limp on to the end of the season, get relegated and then go into admin.
  3. Agree, except for the FA Cup bit as I think we'll draw on Saturday and go out in the replay. Maybe we can still sneak the play offs this season, but I'm not really that bothered as by next season we'll have some new and better players who for the first time in a number of years will have a full pre season together. Would be some season if we went up champions. And if Leeds, Norwich and Charlton go up we'd be huge favourites to do that.
  4. Hooray. I think it's the manner in which some people post on here which riles others. Yes, Pardew said it was a 'must win' game. But in what context? Must win in order to catch the teams above us and keep momentum going? Must win in order to make certain we get in the play offs? Must win or he'll cover himself in honey and run naked through the streets of St Mary's before sacrificing himself in front of the Ted Bates statue while shouting that a few posters on TSW are right and because we didn't beat Millwall there's no point carrying on? Also what some people seem to forget is that we are playing another team. It's not as simple as rocking up, smashing a few goals in a coming back to St Mary's with 3 points. There's 11 other blokes trying to stop us doing that while simultaneously looking for 3 points themselves. Maybe Pardew could have chosen a slightly different team or put subs on earlier. But then we may have lost. It's not ALL about what we do. Millwall are a decent team. Very strong, well organised and hard to break down. Over the balance of play in 90 minutes that was a point gained for us. Yes, it's frustrating letting in a goal just after we'd taken the lead but it's hardly a disaster.
  5. Played well. Gave us proper width on the left which we've lacked. Put a couple of top notch crosses in, one of which Morgan seemed to wimp out on when the goal was gaping. Looked a little rusty first half and took a while to get the pace of the game, but that's to be expected after a long period out the first team.
  6. What was with that loud droning noise the Millwall fans were making? Very strange. Fonte looked solid and classy. Davis made some quality saves. No chance with the goal, the shot was low and hard across him right into the corner. Looked like a weak tackle by Ostemobor to allow the chance. Ridiculous amount of police though, they must earn a fortune out of Millwall.
  7. Spent all day watching that, but couldn't face the last 17 balls as it was too stressful. Listened on TMS instead, came back downstairs to see the celebrations only to find my 4 year old watching Ben 10. He'll learn.
  8. People are being far too hard on Antonio. He's young, and with all respect to Tooting & Mitcham, had never been coached to a professional standard until he was 18. Strikes me as similar to Kenwyne Jones. Young raw talent who with the right coaching will turn out to be a very good player.
  9. I was hoping the Northam would start up the 'Chapel Give Us A Song' chant.
  10. That's different because both him and his brother started at Saints, and many of Aaron's best friends still played for the club at the time of his death.
  11. Amusingly, the bloke in front of me in the Milton was urging Carter on to score as he had £20 on Magilton and 3-1. The worst miss ever though is the Rocky Baptiste one for Harrow Borough:
  12. Good choice for a cold winters morning.
  13. I was sat near the dugout (in fact Pardew was in my line of vision for most of the game) and I didn't once notice him telling Lallana or anyone to get out wide and spread the midfield out. Now, if I was in charge and my players weren't playing in the positions I'd requested then I'd be barking instructions from the technical area.
  14. Mellis did ok. Worked hard, made one 50 yard run to win possession when they were looking threatening on the break. Thought it was a good game between 2 teams who are playing way above League 1 standard at the moment. Main difference seemed to be that they kept Lallana quiet, whereas we failed to disrupt their midfield enough which let Hoolahan dictate play. As previously mentioned it was a big mistake by Lambert taking him off. Pretty amazing scenes at the end, and to get 15000+ for a JPT game is nothing short of fantastic. Fair play to everyone who turned out with the exception of the fool behind me who insisted on showing everyone around us exactly how little he knew about the game of football at an inadvisable volume....we can't man mark left backs for 90 minutes mate, it's just never gonna happen!
  15. The Wire Twin Peaks Northern Exposure Six Feet Under (first couple of series before Lisa disappeared - then it just got far too grim) True Blood Would probably have Sopranos in that list if I'd actually seen it.
  16. Quality album. It has to be time for me to dust off their Christmas album soon and give it a listen.
  17. Wouldn't give our fans 9, more like 7. After the huff and puff of first 25 minutes we completely controlled the game. Connolly really was a class apart, and I enjoyed seeing Morgan switching play with a number of pinpoint 50 yard passes out to the wingers. This is something we really struggled at earlier in the season. 6 or 7 points in our next 3 games will see us comfortably mid table. 2 trips to Wembley this season is an enticing prospect.
  18. Can't believe the metallers aren't going for World Painted Blood by Slayer. My favourite album of the year is Through The Devil Softly by Hope Sandoval and the Warm Inventions. It was worth waiting 8 years for.
  19. Could be that Lambert is being told to pace himself more in recent games due to his large workload up front alone.
  20. Antonio's shot from near the halfway line was worth the admission fee alone.
  21. To me darts is as much of a sport as F1, and dare I say it a whole lot more entertaining. Button's achievement appears to stem from the fact he was lucky enough to be sat in the best car on the grid for half a season because someone else invented something that gave him a huge great hulking advantage. Cavendish deserves to win as he's the best sportsman or woman in the country by a big distance. He's also the most successful. He won 22 races this season and is without doubt the best sprinter on the planet. Almost untouchable. And he's 24. That's insane. In all probability he'll go on to win more races/stages than any cyclist in modern history. I also think Bradley Wiggins should be nominated. Jeez, there's a triple jumper in there. How many people triple jump around the globe compared to cycle as either pro's or serious amateurs?
  22. The shortlist has been announced: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tv_and_radio/sports_personality_of_the_year/8386162.stm Cavendish gets my vote.
  23. They'll get loans in. No doubt a few players will be persuaded to join them on lucrative short term contracts to the end of the season by their agent who may also be connected to the club and stands to make a tidy sum on the deals. Or something like that. Oh my God. Huntelaar has just scored a beauty for AC Milan.
  24. Dunno, he could quite easily have given them a penalty at 0-0 when Harding pushed one of their players in the back. Granted it wasn't a massive shove but enough for it to be given if the ref was that desperate to appease the home fans. Quite a drab game. Seemed like Saints were coasting most of the time. You could see such a gulf in class when we got our passing and movement going.
  25. I like
