Nice to read today that Pompey's mascot on Saturday wasn't a young fan to which the experience would have meant everything, or even a kid linked to one of the charities they shafted. No, they were permitted one mascot - and it was Chainrai's son.

I've missed between 5 and 10 goals while getting a beer and a balti pie this season. People in my row moan at me for making them get up but then I'm putting more money into the club every game than them. Really, the club love the fans who buy food and drink at half time as it's more profit. Loads of people leave on 85 minutes, they've probably missed more goals than me. I go to football because that's just what I always have done from a young age. Been to loads of non-Saints games too, at all levels. There's just something about watching a live game that appeals immensely to me.

Didn't see the back, so can't confirm but think it's front only. Collars are red. Luckily there's no pink edging on the sleeves!

It's got a sash and no sponsor at all. Similar design to the England kit but with a red sash. Umbro badge on one tit, Saints crest on the other. Can't tell you how I know this as I don't want anyone to feel Cortese's wrath!

What his anti Tory vote did was stop them getting a majority and really messing everything up. And they're not fully in power. Half their manifesto would have been ripped up or watered down. We'll have sensible and decent politicians from the Lib Dems in the Cabinet. Luckily there will now be no Osbourne holding the purse strings. We'll have Clegg as DPM, Cable somewhere in the Treasury and with any luck David Laws as Education Minister.

That's possibly the funniest thing I've ever read on this forum. No hold on, in my life.

Does anybody know the words to the Lambert song?
The Cat replied to anothersaintinsouthsea's topic in The Saints
He reckons right. It is *nearly*. As for away games, well at some of the ones I've been to (Bristol Rovers a good example) it's been all la la la la la and none of the proper words sung. I can only ascertain that the majority of Saints fans have hideous short term memory, or are completely thick. As for the Barnard song, it's ridiculous. Please stop singing it. -
Agree about the patronising nature of the announcement. All that needed to be said was something like "please stay in your seats after the game and enjoy the lap of honour so you, the fans can show the team your appreciation for their hard work during this magnificent season, and the players and staff can applaud the fans for their outstanding support" Something like that would probably have got a big cheer and not antagonised anyone. I sit in the Kingsland and even the old people near us were saying the announcements were ridiculous.

At least if there is a Tory-Lib Dem Coalition then we may not have to endure 4 or 5 years with that clown Osbourne as Chancellor.

Clegg says Tories should be given first chance of forming a government
The Cat replied to trousers's topic in The Lounge
Personally I think that voting for a war in which a huge number of innocent people died is morally reprehensible, especially as the vote was cast under the extremely dubious '45 minute' guidelines. No point raking over that decision again though, as it's been done to death and all the arguments for and against are well known. Aligning his party in Europe with, as Clegg called them "nutters" is too. Or maybe it's just stupid, but Cameron did little to distance the Tories from this. As for tactical voting, well in our quite ludicrous system I don't understand why this isn't a lot more common and called for by a lot more people in politics. For example in Eastleigh, why would any Labour supporter vote for them when they know a vote for Lib Dems is likely to deny the Tories a valuable seat? There's plenty of constituencies where Tory voters could have cost Labour a seat too. As for the print media, well they are a lot less effective than 10 or 15 years ago due to smaller circulations and the rise of digital media, however I still maintain that the coordinated attack on Clegg with a collection of spurious articles was out of order. Maybe Cameron isn't actually a c u n t, that's a bit harsh - but it still baffles me that he seems so popular when a lot of his policy statements are less well thought out than those of the Lib Dems. And jeez, anyone who thinks George Osbourne could do a job as Chancellor is severely deluded. Wonder why the Tories kept him out of the campaign? Considering he's their number 2 it speaks volumes!! -
Clegg says Tories should be given first chance of forming a government
The Cat replied to trousers's topic in The Lounge
I never said they failed to make a breakthrough because of the Tory press, although I doubt it helped, just that Clegg had just cause to be hacked off with the Tories after their party orchestrated an unfair and unnecessary hatchet job on him. But yes, some of the electorate are a bit dumb. Some people probably voted Tory because Simon Cowell did. Sadly that's true. What is also true is that James Murdoch and Rebekah Brooks burst into the Independent offices and had a huge slanging match with Simon Kelner over a piece his paper printed stating a vote for the Tories is a vote for Rupert Murdoch. Now, if papers weren't that influential then News International wouldn't have thrown their toys out of the pram due to an article in a paper read by only 200 000 people a day. The fact he employs Andy Coulson shows his dubious morals, while aligning the Tories with the Polish Law & Justice Party isn't helping him take any moral highground. I disagree with some of his voting decisions in the House of Commons too: Voted VERY STRONGLY AGAINST the hunting ban Voted AGAINST removing hereditary peers from the House Of Lords Voted AGAINST proposals for 100% elected House of Lords Voted MODERATELY for equal gay rights Voted VERY STRONGLY for the Iraq War Good healthy political debate though eh? -

Fair play to Clegg, especially after the unfair Tory instigated media backlash against him just before the third leaders debate. I'm surprised he didn't consider shafting them after that. All goes to show he's a decent man with morals unlike that c u n t Cameron. -
I voted Lib Dem and thankfully Chris Huhne increased his majority. Being such a marginal seat I was very surprised by the lack of effort the Tories made in Hamble where I live. Hardly any leaflets through the door, no doorstepping or phone canvassing. Disappointing as I was looking forward to telling them where to shove their vote. Dune, you crack me up with your comment about "one horrible smear of yellow now in Hampshire." Not only because it shows your political bias and ignorance, but also for the fact that last time I looked Portsmouth South was in the same county.

Glad Palace stayed up. Always had a bit of a soft spot for them. Top article by David Conn on the money issues at Plymouth: http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/david-conn-inside-sport-blog/2010/apr/28/roy-gardner-plymouth-manchester-united Wednesday are £25 million in debt so unless they get some new backers in it will be more an exercise in cost cutting this summer than squad building.

Martin seemed pretty good. Got rid when he had to and was very strong. Jackson spun him a couple of times but he'll learn how to combat that as he gains more experience. Gills weren't all that. We'd have beaten them comfortably had we needed to.
-
I went and I didn't care that Pardew didn't pick our best starting XI. These are exactly the sort of games when the manager should pick players to give them experience or test them out to see if they're worthy of a new contract.
-
Agree we should try to win every game. Clearly players will be rested but we should have a good enough squad to compete in every competition without having to leave out the first XI for cup games. Can't see the logic of hoping we lose in the League Cup or FA Cup early on because who knows, we may draw Pompey again or a Premiership team, or even work our way towards the back end of the competitions.

Strangely, the house across the road from me has 2 Union Jacks hanging out the window today.

I was born in Kent so am really looking forward to this and hope we help to relegate the pikey scumbags. In my eyes Gillingham is the Pompey of Kent. It's a disgusting town full of m i n g e r s and lunatics.

Hahaha, I live in the Eastleigh constituency and my vote for Chris Huhne is a vote for the Lib Dems, just like it has been in the past 2 general elections. Even though it's down as a marginal, I can't see the Tories making up the 2% they need and winning here. They lost quite a few seats and took a complete pasting in a lot of the local council wards due to the Tory-led Hampshire County Council wanting to stick gravel pits in Hamble and Netley. Local issues will still count for the general election, and the few Labour voters in the constituency will no doubt vote Lib Dem anyway.

Try going to Millwall. We looked tired yesterday, and it didn't seem like the forward players were making quite so many runs into space as at Bristol Rovers. Saying that, Yeovil did work very hard to close us down and stop us working the ball into the channels. Barnard just has to play on Tuesday. We need to attack so it makes sense to put either Puncheon or Lallana in the middle with Hammond. I'd also drop Antonio and play Waigo on wing. Fair play to Papa for playing RB and RW at the same time yesterday. One minute he was legging it back 50 yards to close down an attack, next minute he pops up 5 yards from the corner flag and swings in a sumptuous cross. The last minute goal helped but it was an enjoyable day all round, and glad we walked 10 mins to a fairly empty pub after going in the Arrow, it was 5 deep at the bar!

He was brilliant. Helped no end by us playing with width and Hammond having a storming game. When we give Morgan time on the ball and have players making runs into the right areas he thrives and we become a different team. Loved the goal too. Hard to tell how far out it was from our end, but it had to be at least what, 65 yards?
