Yeah, Tessem was great for about a 3 month period when he was played in the right position. Didn't Dave Jones play him at RB a few times when he first joined, and Tessem said he'd never played there before in his whole career?
-
Micky Evans Scott Hiley - ok he wasn't great but his 2 incredible goal line clearances went a long way to keeping us up. Anders Svensson used to get a lot of unfair abuse. Iain Dowie. When he first joined us I remember people booing his name when it was announced on the tannoy after he'd scored! Matty was criminally underrated by a succession of England managers.

Agree. It's also bizarre considering the earliest I ever had to queue up at the Dell to get a ticket for a big game was about 6am - and that was for a stadium with half the capacity.

I'm in block 36 and the atmosphere has been good over our way this season. People have started standing in 37 now, so would imagine more will be doing so for the Man Utd game as quite a few from 42 will move over.

Weird thread. The answer is it's impossible to say. Who knows, we could beat Man Utd, lose to Exeter and still gain automatic promotion. If we weren't playing in the 4th round we'd be playing Charlton at home and might have lost. Maybe now we'll win the rearranged game in April? Who knows? There's still 22 league games to play. How supporters can be negative about the chance for us to play against the best team in the country at home in front if a sell out crowd is beyond me. Can't people just enjoy the fact we'll be playing in a high profile game on terrestrial tv and earning more money and exposure for the club? I'm quite excited that we're playing Man Utd, but then equally excited about going to Peterbrough the Saturday after because it will be a new ground for me and should be a cracking game of football. Why not just enjoy the ride without moaning about and over-analysing every small detail?

I think Mark does community coaching now. Someone I kind of know works with him sometimes.

Do you ever feel sorry for the opposition..?

I felt sorry for Wimbledon when we relegated them from the Premier League at the Dell. Neil Ardley was crying on the pitch after we scored our second. -
If the bus is parked inside the depot it's possible to be on the bus and in the building.
-
It's very nice on the bus at the moment, but what you have to realise is that there's always improvements that can be made to the bus. One of the most impressive things for me was that even though driver was doing a good job and negotiating traffic and tight bends with ease all the way through to the end of his route, he still found time just before the end of it to reverse back and pick up a passenger who hadn't quite made it to their stop. The bus is a very happy place to be right now, but we can always make it happier. Add some more comfortable seats, a lick of paint, or make sure the floor is always clean and tidy. And if some passengers want to get off the bus, we'll have to make sure we strive to get some better passengers on to replace them.

So in this case all the people that went to the first 3 rounds of the cup get tickets for £20, those who didn't pay £30. Loyal fans rewarded, part time hangers on who only come for the big games pay for the privilege.

Burton away would be fun, or another Prem team at home.

Saints 2 - 0 Blackpool - Post match reaction
The Cat replied to Yorkshire Saint's topic in The Saints
Great team performance. They all worked hard and stifled most of Blackpool's possession before they got in to any dangerous areas. Passing was good, especially from Schneiderlin who ran the game. Lallana was superb again and Martin was solid. Bart pulled off one cracking save and dealt with everything else comfortably apart from one moment of panic in the box. So chuffed that we won today on my son's first visit to St Mary's. He loved it. -
Fantastic news. Well done to all involved for making it happen.

Remember it well. Amusing police escort back to the station too, when we were lucky enough to witness grown men encouraging their small children to throw stuff at us while swearing in their endearing mockney way. First stop on the train was Sholing, it took me over 2 hours to get back to Hamble from the final whistle. Could have walked quicker. Went on the bingo bus for the 4-1 after the previous train nightmare. Thankfully I have less memories of that day!

The other game at Fratton was 1-0. Phillips hit the post right in front of us Saints fans near the death. It was on my 28th birthday, what a way to celebrate!
-
Haven't won in 4. Last win was about 6 weeks ago. Couldn't even hold on to a 3 goal lead at home to Exeter with 15 minutes left - the same Exeter we took apart with ease. So yes, I'd say average is about right. They might beat us, but then that's football.
-
Now we know Blackpool aren't that fussed about the game it makes it even more imperative that we put out a strong team. Win and we're in the hat for the 4th round and all the players are confident and can take their 4 game winning streak up to an average Oldham team on Tuesday. Cortese is happy because we have the chance to make extra revenue which is probably not budgeted for.

My son was 5 in September, Saturday will be his first game. At Colchester away a few years ago (Layer Road) I saw a couple of Saints fans with their son who was really young, maybe 6 months old.
-
I agree, play a strong side. This is a winnable game against a better team than us which could lead to a plum 4th round tie. We may even get Pompey away. Hopefully it will be an exciting game as I'm taking my 5 year old son to his first match and I don't want him to witness a dull 0-0 that will put him off for life!

I thought Lambert's goal was handball. Hard to tell on the highlights because of the camera angle, but looking straight at it live it definitely looked like he used his arm to control it just before he scored. Sadly the highlights of the first goal cut out before the players came and celebrated with the fans by the barrier. I came back from half time just before the goal was scored and managed to jump into the bundle and pat Guly on the mohican.

One of the best 4 in the world, which on it's day is capable of beating Barcelona, Man Utd or Chelsea? A better analogy would be Alex Bogdanovic. Had loads of money thrown at him but achieved nothing.

I remember there being one in St Mary's, opposite the Dorch when those flats were being built. Incidentally right by the place where, after being propositioned by a prostitute, my mate turned round and asked me "why did that woman just ask me if I wanted some biscuits?"

I'm getting so excited about the Ashes and the fact we're gonna win that I find a little bit of wee leaking out on a regular basis.
