I remember seeing Sarmiento play for us at Torquay in the FA Cup. Thought he was pretty decent to be fair. Reckon I've seen most of the players mentioned above, mostly due to the fact I lived one minute walk from the Dell so used to go and watch reserve games fairly often.

Hobbies, interests and loves which rival Saints

I thoroughly enjoyed yesterday's game. Was great to stand on a proper terrace with a roof to help the atmosphere (unlike Exeter!) Yes a little annoying to surrender a 2 goal lead twice, but fair play to Posh, they never gave up and put us under a lot of pressure. Our fans were good yesterday, although I'd appreciate it if we could resist the crushingly tedious chants of "I've got a shed" and "you f'ing live in a sh i t hole" especially as some of the people joining in with the second probably live in Millbrook or Thornhill.

Broadband users can already watch a stream of any game that's live on tv anywhere in the world for free. The only way the thread title will come to fruition is if clubs start selling their tv rights individually. Even in League 1 Saints would potentially have enough purchasers to make that economically viable.

The refusal to sell a season ticket at Southampton FC
The Cat replied to lenwilkins's topic in The Saints
Part of journalistic training is to label people. This is even more prevalent in tabloid newspapers like the Echo. Therefore when writing this article the journalist, or sub-editor will label Nick Illingsworth as "Saints Trust Chairman". The Echo don't care if the Trust only has 12 members or whatever, it exists. That's enough because the casual reader won't know or possibly even care about the finer details of their current membership. The Echo are hardly on chummy terms with the club and are quite happy to write negative articles about them. Therefore presenting Nick as a Trust Chairman gives the story more gravitas than if it was about Joe Bloggs from the Chapel Stand. If the Trust didn't exist then the Echo would probably label him as Editor of the Ugly Inside Website. I doubt Nick's banging on at them down the phone to make sure they print he's the Saints Trust Chairman, they'll put it whether he likes it or not. Unlike most clubs, Saints don't have a large supporters group. I'd hazard a guess that if you discount the Trust, the next largest would be London Saints. When a story that affects supporters arises, the Echo will want quotes from a fans representative. All local papers do the same. Until someone else who represents supporters comes forward (I haven't noticed them going to SISA for quotes recently) it will be Nick they contact. Maybe the Echo could hunt out a new supporter to quote, but I doubt they could be bothered. In theory it could be a number of people, yet no one except SISA seems to want the job. They are hardly going to start quoting random fans at length. Nick is recognisable to many local supporters, and especially to those fans who go to pretty much every match. He's always there and people rightly respect that. Most fans who attend that many games live in or around Southampton, which is where the Echo sells it's newspapers. -
If that's without our permission then the crime rate in your area will be going through the roof. 24 in Hamble, most of them in the posh bit too. Yachty scum.

Would be nice for us to be nominated in the one of the top 2 categories really. Maybe next season. We could always win the EA Sports Outstanding Team Performance award for our 6-0 trouncing of Oldham.

The refusal to sell a season ticket at Southampton FC
The Cat replied to lenwilkins's topic in The Saints
+1 Nick helped me out in the past when I had issues with the club. He didn't have to, but saw that I had been treated badly as a fan and stepped in. He'd do the same for anyone, even those who seem to like to disrespect him when they don't even know him. Does seem very bizarre that the club let him buy tickets for individual games but won't let him have a season ticket. -
It was good in Kingsland/Northam corner. We were stood up in Block 36 for the first time this season. Reckon quite a lot of Block 42 shifted our way rather than over to the Itchen. None of the ST holders near us that are normally sat down complained about having to stand either.

Well played Saints, great performance. No disgrace in losing that at all. Just got home and a bit hammered but thought I'd add to the Morgan love-in, he was brilliant today. Note to Nigel - any chance we can stop scoring just before half time as I keep missing the goals due to being in the queue for beer. Any time before 42 mins and after 48 would be great. Thanks.

If he does then he should consider taking the idea to festivals. It would go down really well at Green Man or End of the Road where they have secret gigs in the woods. Set the shed up there, whack a few speakers outside and off you go. I've seen a Disco Shed before which was great fun! http://www.discoshed.com/about/

I like Murray. He clearly doesn't hate English people, if he did he wouldn't live here and pay taxes and would probably reside abroad in a tax haven that was also more convenient located for the amount of traveling he has to do. A bit like Lewis Hamilton who naffed off as quickly as he could once he started earning a fat wedge. Yes he can be a bit dull but then he's spent his life playing tennis and training nearly every day from a very young age. I hope he wins this tournament because it will help promote the game further in our country and will hopefully inspire some youngsters to go on and do the same. I also find his game quite interesting to watch, at least he has some nuances to his play that many of the big hitting power players who just wallop every shot towards the corner don't have. His application in variations of spin and angles is quite unique.

Cheers for the link, some cracking stuff in there. Very much enjoyed the Micah P Hinson and Alisdair Roberts songs.

Season ticket holders loyalty and the ticket office.
The Cat replied to Tractor_Saint's topic in The Saints
Anyone buying a ticket should be put on the database. In fact every ticket bought (home and away) should be logged as a matter of course. One of my mates often gets my away tickets, and when I check my online sales history some are linked to my account and some aren't. When I've bought my own away tickets at the ticket office I've had to ask the person serving me to add them to my season ticket - they don't seem to be proactive in doing this and it could be the difference between getting a ticket to a game or not. -

"Customer Service" in this country is absolutely dreadful
The Cat replied to trousers's topic in The Lounge
As someone who works in a shop I treat the customers well if they reciprocate. Too many people now are just plain rude. On serving them I'll always make eye contact and say hello, but often all I get in return is a caveman style grunt or complete silence. Bear in mind too that this is in Hamble, so it's hardly like all the residents are knuckle dragging numpties without 2 brain cells to rub together, although some of them are clearly inbred which may affect their intelligence and social skills. Years back a few of my mates temped at British Gas and used to play telephone tennis with the customers. This involved transferring people between them, each time blaming the other person for the mistake that was being complained about. The loser was whoever the caller hung up on. -

Crack and pornography addiction? Closet Saints fan is Craig Charles, saw him at St Mary's a few times and round and about the local pubs in Hamble and Bursledon before he moved back up north. Presents a quality funk and soul show on 6Music too. I'm making no comment on a new series of Red Dwarf though as I never really liked it anyway. -
I like James Blake. His Klavierwerk EP is phenomenal. This whole award is all a crock of turd though.

Can't believe I'm admitting this, but it's the best pop song mash up ever. So glad I don't know anyone who posts on here because the tiny bit of credibility I imagine I have would be lost forever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYa711pTFZM

Already got our tickets for End of The Road and Camp Bestival. Very tempted by Green Man this year as missed the last 2. Maybe Festinho too if they do another one. I really want to go to Bloc at Minehead but sadly can't afford the ticket right now and it clashes with Bournemouth away. Can't be doing with big festivals anymore. Did Glastonbury, Reading, Phoenix and Donnington in the past but I prefer the smaller ones now.
