  1. Tough call with the RB position. Butterfield didn't have such a good game yesterday but I feel he is a lot more consistent than Richardson whose passing and distribution can be terrible. Maybe Morgan will start too, as shown yesterday we are a different team when he gets time on the ball.
  2. Brilliant player for us, very cruel that he should die at such a young age. RIP Deano.

Went to Selhurst after the Rochdale game was called off and was impressed by their fans. Pretty much all the noise came from the bottom tier of the Holmesdale stand, and they sang for 90% of the game which was a good effort considering how bad the football was and the lack of any atmosphere coming from the Sheff Utd fans. Not a big fan of drums at football, mainly because the drummers never know when to rein it in, however if done properly it really does work. Also all the fans I spoke to, quite a few of them from the older generation were very much in favour of the atmosphere the 'Ultras' created.
  4. Joe Garner. Great strike.
  5. Mark Venus for Ipswich in our first season at St Mary's. Was a 30 yard screamer in a crazy 3-3 draw. Couldn't find the goal on youtube, but did stumble across footage of a 3-3 draw at the Dell against Ipswich in the early 80's. Includes a cracker from Phil Boyer, but also possibly the WORST goal we ever let in (Ipswich's 3rd which made it 3-2)
  6. What if a large majority of the staff at the club hated working with Pardew? That would be a valid enough reason for me. If my manager at work was a total **** yet mildly competent at their job I'd be delighted if they were replaced by another manager of similar (or slightly better, but definitely not worse) ability who wasn't a ****.
  7. Well, we can all see for own eyes in April when we play each other.
  8. I think Adkins is better than Pardew, although maybe football wise there's not a lot in it. However Pardew is an arrogant **** and Adkins isn't, which means that he's by far the better man for the job. People need to remember there's a lot more to managing a team day in day out than what happens on the pitch. Not sure if you remember the start of the season, but a team clearly low on morale played some god awful football under Pardew. The club seems a lot happier under Adkins.
  9. Not particularly hard to be fair. Our ground is a soulless, identikit, characterless jelly-mould of a football stadium.
  10. Would have been great to sneak a win tonight but a draw is a decent result. Hartlepool have a good home record against the top sides. Our next 2 fixtures are very winnable. 6 points from those and everything will look a lot different.
  11. It's now Tuesday 12th April. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2299378,00.html
  12. I ended up there too. can't argue with what you said. saints are better than both of those teams. cracking goal from ambrose though.

  14. How many games we can afford to lose depends on how many points the teams around us drop.
  15. Funny.
  16. Not unless someone is offering a free lift up there! Can't afford Rochdale and Hartlepool 3 days apart.

  19. Not sure who Dixon is. Butterfield played well, much more comfortable in possession than Richardson. N'Guessan wasn't clueless either. You on the other hand clearly are.
  20. Agree with all of the above. Some of our fans need to have a look at themselves.
  21. Original 600 tickets all gone for this. Went to the Ticket Office after today's game and they are taking ST numbers and card details and then posting tickets out when the next batch arrive on Monday or Tuesday. Looks like we'll have decent support up there.
  22. Pretty dull but a most welcome 3 points. Flat performance, flat atmosphere. Was the sending off merited? Opposite side of the pitch to me so hard to tell, but the Carlisle players were pretty angry about the decision.
  23. Maybe the charges should be capped to under 10% of the ticket cost. It's the same when buying gig tickets, sometimes they just take the **** with the charges.
  24. David James' articles are usually very well thought out, like the one above he gives a different perspective on the game than a lot of footballers seem capable of. I love the fact Xavi seems to mention Matty a lot. Makes me proud to be a Saints fan, especially when every other player he talks about plays for a big team. Interesting that he views Scholes as the best midfielder of the past 15 years or so, makes Eriksson look even more incompetent for consistently sticking him on the left wing and hastening him towards the end of his international career.
  25. This is without doubt one of the best footballer interviews I've ever read. Good to see Matty gets a mention, and an "open-mouthed, eyes gleaming" mention too. Must mean a lot when it's from one of the best players ever. The quotes about the youth set-up at Barcelona are very enlightening. I hope that our Academy are trying the same, or similar with our youngsters. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/feb/11/xavi-barcelona-spain-interview
