  1. As it happens mine is 5 inches, so you are probably correct. To be fair it does seem weird voting for something you haven't seen. Must remember to stick my votes in for the Soap Awards next year despite the fact I don't ever watch any, although I do hear people talk about them sometimes so I can obviously make a concise judgement on that.
  2. Can this poll be for people who actually go and watch the team play rather than those who are pretty much just guessing?
  3. Fonte for me. If Lallana had been fit all season it would have been a tough choice. While other players have undoubtedly had good seasons, none have been anywhere near as good as those 2. To my eyes Jose is just sickeningly good at this level. (Cue the 95th minute howler on Saturday)
  4. There was post last Saturday as that's when ours turned up at my mate's house - got a text while on the train to Brighton to let me know. And yes, they sent them to the first customer number despite me paying and putting my address details on the form.
  5. They might have a problem if we relegate them by winning or drawing.
  6. Delap had a good chance in the second half, centre of the goal just outside the 6 yard box which he scuffed. Hope one day we're back playing those sort of games, would love a few more European aways.
  7. A lovely gentleman, he was my friend's Grandad. It's so sad when people associated with the club in any capacity pass away. RIP Jack.
  8. Brilliant trip. We stayed in the Intercontinental Hotel which was right by the subway where a few weeks before they had been filming a tv documentary about kids being pimped out, Nice. We got there with a crazy Police escort. Initial impressions were that they didn't seem to have very many road laws in Romania. Yep, loads of stray and rabid looking dogs wandering around, even right in the middle of Bucharest. In the afternoon before the game we ended up drinking in what looked like a makeshift bar that someone had just stuck up between 2 buildings. Remember quite a few locals in the street looking on in bewilderment at us Saints fans (probably a 100 or so) all merrily drinking and singing. Seemed like all the Saints fans were well behaved except for a few sad Gallagher Brother lookalike wannabees who seemed to find kicking stones at the locals and abusing them a source of entertainment. Onto the game (another hairy police escort) and up the muddy bank for a slash in the conifers. Loads of armed Police, although they were friendly and sharing cigarettes and telling us the best places to drink. After the game I vividly remember during the Steaua players lap of honour that they were reluctant to come near our fans. Yet when they noticed us applauding them they came over and clapped us back. There were a few numpties in our end having a go at people for clapping them, but oh well. I think I'm right in saying that at the time we had taken more away fans to their ground than any other English club. I chatted to some of their fans who said they couldn't believe how many we had taken there, and that they thought because we were English that there would be loads of trouble. After the game and it was a tour of some seedy looking downstairs Bucharest bars with beautiful naked women everywhere. Mind you by this time I was completely hammered so they might have all looked like Corp Ho's mum. Oh, and you could buy beer in KFC with your food. That was good.
  9. We've won 20 of our last 12? Wow.
  10. They will do it, or at least they used to as a friend of mine worked in the ticket office a few years ago and told me it could be done. They even used to do the reverse, swap an adult for child ticket and give you the difference back in cash. Might be wise to get down there early if you are planning on doing this though. Alternatively just do as the post above. They never check, well not in the Kingsland anyway.
  11. I take it that's a joke? So Wimbledon who spent years in the top flight, won the FA Cup and who would have qualified for Europe if not for the ban shouldn't have been allowed in that league because they regularly had only 5000 watching them.
  12. He did ok. His closing down and tackling was important to break up their passing game in midfield. To me it seems that he's responded positively to the Adkins way of playing. He does give the ball away occasionally but no more than Hammond or Chaplow. For some reason my mate was convinced Gobern was going to score a 30 yarder yesterday and kept banging on about it during the game. He was quite drunk.
  13. To be fair I think Palace vs Brighton is a pretty big derby game. From knowing supporters of both clubs it seems they do really hate each other. A Palace view on their rivals: http://www.holmesdale.net/page.php?id=82&story=4152
  14. My sister is a paramedic, her boyfriend an A&E Consultant. Both voted Tory at the last election. Now, neither will ever vote Tory again. To them it's not about the deficit Labour left behind, it's how you deal with it, and cutting vital NHS sevices is not the way forward.
  15. A guard of honour or not makes no difference to the game itself. I doubt the Brighton players give a crap either way. Also, I'm interested as to why some Brighton fans hate Adkins so much? Is it really because of one throwaway comment earlier in the season about them catching us? If so, then Christ, let it go. You should be happy to luxuriate in the fact you're already won the league and celebrate your teams' achievements rather than banging on about a comment Adkins has probably forgotten all about. I'm really looking forward to this match. It's what football's all about. Huge end of season game for us and a day out in the sun by the sea. Extra edge added by the fact my girlfriends family are from the area and her cousin and uncle are big Brighton fans. Quality.
  16. I'm just going to take a marker pen to some Royal Wedding bunting and wave that about.
  17. I want to see a flag this big: Edit - Just realised this has already been posted. Still impressive though.
  18. Mine's hanging on the wall halfway up the stairs next to an aerial photo of the Dell. Loved the end of that last game against Brighton. Around me in the Archers all you could hear during the second half was people dismantling their seats. People had smuggled screwdrivers in to take them apart properly, while everyone else was just kicking them apart.
  19. Seems like he's giving the new Peppa Pig World at Paulton's Park the Matty seal of approval.
  20. The midfield has been worrying me for a while. There is a distinct lack of pace, and Chaplow apart none of them get far enough forward. When Hammond and Stephens play together neither of them fill the gap in the middle created by Lambert pulling defenders out wide. This was painfully obvious at Rochdale. When we do break with width we often end up crossing it into an area inhabited by Barnard and 3 opposition defenders. In fact the midfield are often so slow to join attacks that they don't even arrive at the edge of the box to have a chance of picking up the inevitable clearance. We also pass the ball far too slowly in the middle of the park. Hammond, for all his effort and commitment, doesn't have great touch and also lacks awareness when in possession. Stephens is neat and tidy on the ball. but without Schneiderlin we lack smoothness in midfield. He also allows the centre backs the luxury of being able to just knock a 5 yard pass to him to start attacks. Oh, and Connolly, what a player.
  21. Frustrating. Rochdale closed us down well and mopped up a lot of balls in midfield. We seemed disjointed in the first half, much stronger in the second. Ridiculous traffic on the way up, ended up doing a tour of posh Cheshire villages to avoid the M6. Walking back to the car chatting to a few Rochdale fans, they said we were the best team they've played at home this season.
  22. One of Jaidi, Fonte or Barnard. They were all superb.
  23. Everyone was stood up as far as I could see. Totally professional performance. Adkins decided to protect the one goal lead when he could have moved Dickson to LB and stuck on a winger, but we saw the game out with no real alarms and were very strong at the back. Roll on Rochdale. Win there and we're laughing.
  24. He was brilliant today. Got his one crap pass of the game out the way in the first half and was immense from then on.
