  1. I like the idea of an outside bar/food bit. Other grounds let you go out even if it's just for a smoke, don't see why we can't do the same. We should follow the lead of Palace. In the upper bar in the Holmesdale End you can order your drink before the game and pick it up at half time. Alternatively we could sell books of vouchers in the club shops or at the ticket office. Say £25 for 10 vouchers. These can then be handed over instead of cash at the bar. It speeds things up, means less money is handled and the customer also gets a bit of a discount.
  2. I loved this from the Fiver on Tuesday: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/may/10/the-fiver-harry-redknapp But if there's one team in the Premier League that is the victim of a media agenda, it's Tottenham Hotspur, who are forced to go about their business on a daily basis nervous in the knowledge that, almost to a man, the London-based media are constantly conspiring to undermine them by burrowing so far up 'Arry Redknapp's backside that it's astonishing the Spurs manager hasn't had to visit a proctologist to have some of the fawning Fleet Street lick-spittles jockeying for position in his colon to be surgically removed. Now the Fiver is fairly fond of 'Arry. He seems an affable old cove who invariably gives good quote. But we're constantly bewildered by the easy ride he gets from his media chums, who seem happy to listen to him put on the poor mouth, while diligently recording his every utterance without question. Revealing why Spurs couldn't possibly be expected to finish in the top four this season, 'Arry declared that "City can be a real force next year. They've got a strong squad which is only going to get better because they've got unlimited funds to buy anybody they want and they can pay the wages." Compared to Spurs, whose impoverished no-mark players get paid in magic beans and can often be found pan-handling for spare change on the Seven Sisters Road in a bid to make ends meet. But while it would have been interesting to learn 'Arry's opinion on how City's wealth can be held responsible for Tottenham's tally of five Premier League points out of a possible 18 against Blackpool (x2), West Ham, Wigan, Wolves and West Brom in recent months, we didn't get to hear them because, as is customary, nobody had the bottle to ask him for it.
  3. An Indian bloke I used to work with said the same, he used to go to Poppadom Express twice a week. I've eaten there a few times and found it ok, but nothing special. A pretty rubbish one in Southampton is P.O.S.H. Only ate there once years ago. Had a few people tell me it was great but I wasn't impressed at all.
  4. Don't be silly, every song now has to be sung to the 'do what we want' tune. Therefore yours will be - "he's Super Mikey, he died from a bite, he died from a bite, he died from a biiiiiiiiite" etc etc
  5. Yep. A completely ridiculous decision. FIFA appear to be so corrupt it's untrue, and Blatter a senile fool. Yet still we back him.
  6. Sounds fatal to me. No time to bother A&E, so you may as well just down a litre of vodka, snort 5 grams of coke, neck a packet of anadin and go out with a bang.
  7. Coriander Lounge is my favourite round here. Pappadums in Brentford is quality. Nice view over the Thames and Kew Gardens too.
  8. Eastleigh was solidly Tory until the 1994 by-election triggered by the then MP Stephen Milligan bunging on a pair of tights and asphyxiating himself on a lemon. Lib Dems won the by-election and it's been theirs ever since. In 2005 Chris Huhne was elected here for the first time, taking over from David Chidgey, and squeezed home by around 600 votes from the Tories. He increased his majority to almost 4000 in the last election. Living in Hamble, their support here is really strong for a couple of reasons. One is the low council tax we pay, second is the fact the Tory-led Hampshire County Council want to have gravel pits here, something that locals are obviously against. However I don't know why they won every borough in Eastleigh in the council elections last week. Interestingly in the 1994 by election, Nigel Farage of the then new party UKIP only polled 170 more votes than Screaming Lord Sutch!
  9. Disagree. I though that was brilliant. They bought down a huge percentage of their average gate and should be applauded for doing so. I liked it when their subs and staff ran on and celebrated like mad at the end.
  10. Well said Daren.
  11. I might take my wellies just in case the pitch is a bit wet in places, don't want to ruin my trainers.
  12. Not meant to rain until after kick off now. I'm currently more concerned with getting home by 10pm when it's forecast to cack it down.
  13. The Plymouth season ticket holders I was talking to on Monday think he's got loads of talent but is very inconsistent, although this is probably down to his age. With the right coaching they thought he could be a very good player.
  14. Agreed. Hopefully we can get a couple in early whose contracts have expired, but we'll probably need to wait right up until the end of the window to finalise the squad.
  15. They'd never get in a position to run the country though would they? Lib Dems managed to win every seat in Eastleigh. Tories lost 2 seats to Labour in Southampton but still have overall control. All results on Echo website: http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/politics/local_election_2011/
  16. Hahaha. I like it when "we do what we want" is followed by "on the pitch" which is in turn followed by not going on the pitch. What's the deal with that tune though? We now seem to have about 37 different songs related to it. Connolly has one, Lallana too. The "don't care about you" was funny at Bournemouth, but "do what we want" is laughable. "[insert name of opponents] a ****hole I wanna go home" has been quite popular this season as well. I think we should now ditch all our other songs and exclusively use this tune from now on.
  17. The Cat

    Hammond

Hadn't been too enthused with Hammond until the last 2 months when he's been excellent, and along with Fonte has really driven the team on to promotion. As mentioned above, he and Morgan seem to struggle as a pair when played together which is frustrating. He definitely needs to play deep in midfield. He doesn't have quick enough feet or the awareness you'd ideally want in an attacking sense. In fact his below par performances seem to have come when he's not been playing in his best position.
  18. Quick, get the number of whoever cleans Jon Parkin's kit.
  19. I'm 35 and have 2 small kids, one who started school this year. Despite my other half not being bothered about football, I am fortunate that she doesn't mind me going to a lot of games. But then it's always been that way - she knew from right at the start of our relationship that I'd be at football most Saturdays. Also I'm lucky that I stay at home with the kids while she works. If it was the other way round and I was out at work 5 days a week and then out all day most Saturdays she probably wouldn't be too happy!
  20. 34. One of the flats in there.
  21. No, Hamble now. Was handy living so close to the Dell, I even went home at half time, had a beer and came back for the second half a couple of times!
  22. Genius, pure comedy genius.
  23. Not at all. I'm not narrow minded enough to judge people I don't know on their own personal circumstances. Things change, and some people who went to a handful of games this season may have been to loads last year, or will do next season. The season after the Great Escape I only made 5 matches despite living in Thornberry Avenue, 1 minute walk from the Dell. I just had no money. The season after I went to over 30. If you want to get all stroppy about an innocent question then fine, feel free.
  24. Hardly. I've missed 9 games. Is it not a fair question to ask? I thought it might be interesting to find out, and as you can see plenty of others have joined in - including some who haven't been to many games. However only you saw fit to come on and write something negative.
  25. That's correct. The Seaborne signing came right out of left field immediately after the Ward transfer went pear shaped.
