  1. The chippy in Lime Street used to be amazing when I lived there although it ever seemed to be open. Agree about the one in St Mary's too. I remember once I was walking up to my mate's flat in Golden Grove eating a tasty portion of their chips when a bloke stopped me and asked if I'd heard someone get shot earlier.
  2. My mate's Dad ran it until a year or so ago. He'd had a heart attack a couple of years before that and was told by the Doctor's to stop working but it wasn't until he split up with his wife that he sold it. He stupidly got rid of it on the cheap without telling anyone, mainly to annoy his wife. Really stupid considerig he's now back with her! In the middle of all that somewhere they had a pretty decent win on the lottery. Around £250k I believe. I'm guessing that's one reason he sold it so cheap. Sad really because pretty much everyone I know has said it's gone downhill since.
  3. I've also noticed that we don't argue with the officials very often which is good to see. Harding has the odd blast at the linesman, but this could be down to the fact he has less need to rag off at ballboys now multi-ball has stopped.
  4. I find his honesty most refeshing, he really doesn't need to take time to answer the questions people are asking him on twitter. Also I don't see how him being at Saints is his fault. It was Lowe and the board who agreed his and Woodward's positions and salary (which if true was madness). Yes he may be a self publicist, but then so are a lot of people. If Clifford is to be believed then it's Woodward who was truly crackers.
  5. Fans from all clubs do the same though. Just remember the amount of abuse and gestures that used to pass from the Archers to the away section and back at the Dell. Then the fans would all flood on to the street at the same time and invariably nothing would happen.
  6. If that was for the corner decision in the first half, well I think the linesman didn't have a clue what to give and waited for D'Urso to decide.
  7. Yeah, Cork is amazing. Fonte played well too. Nice to see us prove again after Barnsley that we can defend back to the walls style if needed.
  8. Yep. Just stood off and watched. Saw a few raise their batons but that was it. From where they were stood it would have been easy to arrest 20 or so blokes for assault on the spot. Even when the Millwall fans got through the cordon at the bottom of the bridge they did nothing to stop them and even let a few walk up the ramp when it was obvious who they should have held back.

    Guly

As far as I'm concerned he is a good player who sometimes does amusingly bad things. Rather than get annoyed at him for falling over the ball or miscontrolling a pass in a good position, just have a chuckle at it safe in the knowledge he'll do something superb shortly after.
  10. When I go to football I often leave my house at noon. Sometimes I haven't eaten. Then, just like when I'm at work, I go to the pub and drink 3 or 4 pints. This often means that by mid afternoon i'm feeling quite hungry. Luckily the place i'm in sells food which means I can buy it there. Sadly there's not enough room at st mary's to get out the picnic table and arrange my pots of hummus, crisps and carrot sticks in an orderly fashion. Until this happens i'll probably just end up munching on pies.
  11. At times Cork does so much work that it seems as if there are 2 of him on the pitch. So far this season he has been scarily good and at times last night he made Bowyer look like park player. Cork, Lallana, Lambert. MOTM was one of those 3, can't split them really.
  12. That's just brilliant. What a goal. From Guly's run bringing the ball out of defence, to the way we find space on the right, then wait for options, Lallana's skill, Guly's knock back and DC's finish. Awesome. I also like the bloke just in front of the camera who storms off when the ball goes in. Hahaha.
  13. Always annoys me when the goal highlights on tv don't show the whole move. The clip should always start from the point when the team which scores gets possession. But you are right, it was sublime skill from Adam. What a player.
  14. I thought it was a lot better last night, but then we were more crammed into one section and had a low roof to help with the noise unlike at Barnsley where it was a half empty stand and more spread out. Not sure if there's anything to add to the above points other than to reiterate the fact that we were truly magnificent at times. I was driving home last night thinking about how sweet it would be if we went to Fratton on 18th December and played them off the park in the same way. Regards the 2 goals we let in, it did seem as if we panicked slightly under the onslaught at the start of the second half. They really did chuck everything into the box for 20 minutes or so, and as mentioned above this was when a Jaidi like player in defence would have come to the fore. Still, we managed to get through that sticky patch and then banged in another 2 for good measure. We are Southampton, we'll score when we want.
  15. Oh yeah, can't believe I forgot about the bingo bus to Pompey. Got the train to the 1-0 game but it took so long to get back I could have walked it quicker so we plumped for the bus for the 4-1 defeat. After the game the streets on the way out of Pompey were lined with people giving us abuse. Made me laugh really. Mind you it seemed to give the locals something to do, at least they had a 10 minute break from sitting down and trying to count their own fingers.
  16. You're right. I went on one once. Bolton away in the Carling Cup (QF?) when we lost 1-0 in extra time. Used the free travel voucher in my season ticket because I was skint. It's a decision that will haunt me to the grave.
  17. I couldn't see the ball for about 30 seconds at that point and had no idea what was going on. Celebrated like it was goal when we finally cleared it.

I kind of agree, although I think we can do better. Also the 5 sub rule works against him. With the amount of quality midfielders and strikers we have (+1 to that list if we get in someone else) he'd struggle to get on the bench for most games.
  19. Pretty much how I saw it trousers. According to Google maps the top way is 3 miles shorter. Reckon i'll just see if there's any jams while i'm heading up the M3 and decide then. If only London wasn't in the way, it would be much quicker!
  20. Anyone know whether it's better to drive round the top or the bottom of the M25 to the A12 junction?
  21. That really made me laugh. I'd imagine vagueness really frustrates you.
  22. Hamble is ok. I live there. The yachties are really quite annoying though and seem to look down at you if you don't own a boat. Loads of nice walks, parks, rivers etc. Good transport links into Southampton (bus and train) but the traffic on Hamble Lane can be a nightmare if you go at the wrong time and will only get worse if the Hampshire County Council give the go-ahead to proposed gravel pits on the old airfield site. Ocean Village is only 15 mins by car if you go through Netley/Weston. Actually Netley is an ok place to live too. Parks and rivers but no yachties.
  23. If you can afford to live in Bassett then do. You might need minimum of £500k for a house there though. Otherwise as suggested above Highfield is nice. Most other areas have both good and bad parts. For example there's loads of nice houses in Sholing, but also the Merry Oak estate. Personally I'd move just outside the city. There's plenty of decent villages to live that have decent transport links into Southampton. Avoid Hedge End though, it's dull and full of duel carriageways and out of town style shops.
  24. That was a joy to watch. So much so that I couldn't believe it was the team I supported doing it. Jack Cork really is an excellent player who has made the midfield so much more complete. Top class defending for the last 5 minutes - I really thought they were going to score.
  25. He was in our youth set up along with his brother Aaron (rip)
