Although the policies are similar, what drives the parties (ie their core beliefs) do differ. As for what can be done going forward.....not alot considering there is no money in the Bank. Therefore all parties are restricted for the next 1-2 parliaments at least. The mess could take a generation to sort out. It did make me laugh how labour were saying that cuts had to be made, but what differentiates labour and the tories is that the tories 'enjoy' cutting spending, whilst Labour don't. Desperate stuff if you ask me. In some respect, I hope there is a Labour Government, because when the cuts made are significantly more than those imposed by Thatcher, I would be keen to see if Brown will get the same hatred fuelled responses in the political debates of the future.

What I find ironic is that British Gas engineers voted Centrica as one of Britain's top employers (top 20 I think) only a couple of months ago. Last week they voted for strike action. WTF is that all about?

See, we're not so diametrically opposed afterall. We are prepared to put our politics aside for the good of the nation. Could 'we' (that's you and me) be the future of British politics????? As it happens, the polls are pointing to a hung parliment, but these are based on people answering specific questions. However, how many of these will turn out to vote? Due to the expenses scandals, party donations and cabs for hire, I suspect that the turnout will be incredibly low, especially when considering the troubled times in which we live. Turnout will be the key and I think that Cameron will scrape home, not because people want him, but more for the fact that most people can't be arsed.

/\ Indeed, it was a case of...... 1. Audience asks a question 2. Politician ignores this and gives an answer to a question that wasn't asked 3. In the event of not being able to do number 2, take a pot shot at one or both of the other two They pretty much admitted that the cuts required after the election would be far deeper than those imposed by Thatcher, but none of them really said when and how it would be done (apart from the odd policy which doesn't even come close to making a dent in the defecit). Whatever happens, the cuts are going to have to be in the region of 25%. The prospect of a hung parliament is becoming more of a reality and my fear is that this will paralyse any administration and the defecit will not get tackled, with potentially disastrous consequences. If it came to it, I would rather a Labour administration rather than a hung parliament.

Good call BTF, in theory (where people sign up to TPS, telemarketing companies will screen their call lists against the register to ensure those that have opted out, do not receive calls). However, the TPS only relates to UK companies, so those calling from abroad cannot be touched. If they are UK based, they 'could' (in the loosest sense of the word) be fined £5000 per breach. The fact that not one single company in 10 years has ever been prosecuted and fined, tells the real story. The problem with TPS is that legitimate companies comply, whilst the crooks ignore it. There is also MPS (for Direct Mail), FPS (for Fax) and even the EPS (for email). Again, not one single company in the last 10 years has ever been fined for any breach. The only advice I would give is NEVER give out your details unless you initiated the call. If someone calls you and it could be genuine, take their details, check them out and call them back.

Be careful if you do, because if you leave the union and they subsequently go on strike, then prepared to be bulied and harassed. They are only happy when they are doing the bullying.
-
Unions and bullying are synonomous. Non union members who flew during the last strike were severely harassed. The union take a stance on bullying when its done by the management, but when they do it, its OK. ****ing hypocrites.

Went here... http://www.alisan.co.uk/location/index.html Just opposite the stadium. It only took 30 seconds to get served in the bar upstairs and there was a fantastic view of wembley.

When I got on at Arundel @ 09:14, there must have been 50+ saints fans on the platform. 50+ people in Arundel on a Sunday morning is probably unusual. Luckily I managed to get a seat.

I thought the strike was about terms and conditions. Looks like the unions are showing their true colours. Anyway enough about politics, I'm off to Wembley.......

Unless you are pompey, of course.

You don't have to pay sick (in terms of full pay), only stat sick pay. Companies who do not pay sick generally have far less sickness issues when comared to those that do.

It's called an inferiority complex. They want everyone to feel as inferior as they do. -

I forgot about your Boxter, Jake. You never had any problems with it and it was a great fun car. If practicality is a problem, then the M3 is a great alternative. Maintenance costs can be off putting, but they are often far less than the depreciation you would get on a nearly new car. As Jake says, there are plenty of Porsche specialists to help you keep the costs down.

While we are on the subject of cats, I have two moggies who are now 15. One of them has taken to ****ing on the carpet - as it was in the same place, I put down some tin foil which has deterred them from ****ing there. However, one of them is now ****ing on another carpet. Apart from carpetting the whole house in tin foil, has anyone got any suggestions?

Often sequels don't live up to the original so I had to bin it because so much has happened since, it's enough of a job to keep up with the takeover thread. I guess we need some clarity before I can create a new one.
