It looks like the protests have spread to Tripoli (with some of the military switching sides)......could the tide be turning? If Libya and Bahrain fall, who's next? After Tunisia, one 'pundit' said that it would be a domino effect and it looks like that is coming to fruition.

Eddie Mitchell Stirs The Pot Before Cherries Game
Johnny Bognor replied to farawaysaint's topic in The Saints
Yes, I caught that. Surprised it didn't get more of an airing on here. He was clearly rattled and displayed jealousy beyond belief. Eddie is a good example of how not to be a football chairman. -
Seconded. It seems the ethnic/religious minorities are protected on here (to the hilt), but if you're disabled or special needs, you are fair game. Very, very sad.

Bomb gone off in Eastleigh...?
Johnny Bognor replied to saintscottofthenortham's topic in The Lounge
I was sitting on the terrace of the William Hardwicke, when the IRA bomb went off in Bognor high street 17 years ago. A big bang, followed by the sound of glass and people screaming. Not nice. Thankfully no-one was killed. -
Not at all. I have a problem with lefties in general who only get on their moral mountains (whilst we are on the subject of topography) on a selective basis. @BTF Google Brokeback Mountain and you can see it has nothing to do with backs breaking. Verbal is the film buff, I am sure he can fill you in (metphorically speaking of course)

Hey, I have no problem with people slagging off the coalition. I think the "Condem" tag is nearly as witty as my "Gordon Clown" references, but a lot of you get on your high horses when Dune/Turkish/Anyone with a right of center viewpoint says anything controversial, but it is OK for you guys. Either that's double standards or hypocritical from where I'm standing.
-
So what if you are? By using this in your own way, you are condoning it. Call yourself a leftie?
-
Come on Verbal, someone of your intellect knows exactly what he is refering to. Why doesn't he call it the Kilimanjaro Coalition? It sounds better to start with. I have to say I am dissapointed with your response as one of the lefties-in-cheif, I would have expected some condemnation.
-
I wouldn't expect a liberal leftie to display such homophobia.... Turkish and Dune mention g-a-y on other threads and the lefties on here have a hissy fit. Badger's quote openly uses "Brokeback" in a way which could be offensive to gays and the lefties say.........nothing. So right wing intolerance is evil whilst leftie intolerance is all OK by you guys. I really don't get you lot sometimes.

The Christmas Tranny song does make me giggle (to the tune of Winter Wonderland) Lacy things, the wife is missin' Didn't ask, her permission I'm wearin' her clothes Her silk pantyhose Walkin' 'round in women's underwear In the store, there's a teddy Little straps, like spaghetti It holds me so tight Like handcuffs at night Walkin' 'round in women's underwear In the office there's a guy named Melvin, He pretends that I am Murphy Brown He'll say, "Are you ready?" I'll say, "Whoa Man!" "Let's wait until our wives are out of town!" Later on, if you wanna We can dress, like Madonna Put on some eyeshade And join the parade Walkin' 'round in women's underwear Lacy things- missin' Didn't ask- permission Wearin' her clothes Silk pantyhose Walkin' 'round in women's underwear Walkin' 'round in women's underwear Walkin' 'round in women's underwear

Britain moves a step closer to a corporate dictatorship

Bloody hell Fuengi, that's twice you've agreed with me now. -

I am personally uncomfortable with these proposals. I would prefer a standard reduction in corporation tax which would negate the need for any of these 'schemes'. Rather than exporting jobs, we would then be importing them which makes total sense to me as companies would want to base their operations here. However, 'the people' would never wear lower corporation tax. -

Look, I don't want to patronise you, but when you make and sell a product, you charge for the material inputs/costs and the Labour required to make/assemble it, plus some profit on top. In the services industry, you sell your time and the only difference is that there may be no material cost. Therefore, I would not give you money for nothing, but pay for your time / labour (as this is the only input). The value you are adding is your expertise / experience. So rather than giving me something tangible in exchange for cash, you are giving me something intangible for cash. -

Nonsense. So you are saying the only way of creating wealth is to make and sell things? -
No, but if you get a good one in, it gives a boost to the confidence.

Oi, don't get your knickers in a twix

Ahhhh, but the 500 people on £20k per annum are far more likely to consume more public services and so cost a lot more than just one. If you take this into account and look at the "net" contribution, it will be far less. -

I suppose you are right as all of that money sat in Bank accounts does no good whatsover. It's a shame that banks don't lend out money to people and businesses based on the bank deposits and it is surprising that the banks make as much money as they do, considering that they just sit on other peoples money and pay out interest for the priviledge. -
Well ITK'ers do like to give us a few Tasters, even if they are wrong. Others just place a few (Mal)teasers out there to get some attention. To be honest, we should probably be Kinder to them and perhaps Rolo-ver for them now and again. If I had a Dime for everytime Adkins mentions the bus, I'd be a rich man. Anyway does anyone know if the bus is a double decker?

I agree with a lot of what saint si says. The best bit of advice I could give is that you should create a template CV as it were. Then, for each job you apply for, you want to add/amend/delete/highlight the bits that are particuarly relevant for that role (assuming you are applying for different jobs). You need to make your CV so that you look like you are the ideal candidate for that job. A standard stock CV could end up irrelevant to every job you appy for. Not a great example, but someone made the point about working on your own and within a team. Find out if you would be in a team or are working on your own and then tailor your CV to the situation. Therefore, consider the role you are appying for and elevate the bits that are more relevant for that job and you'll give yourself a better chance.

You are absolutely right. They extract money out of the economy and then they....they....they.....bury it in a big hole in the ground. These people wouldn't dream of spending their money on cars, yatchs, houses, kitchens, bathrooms, fashion, jewellry, fine dining, fine wine, theatre, investing in companies etc etc etc. Because they won't do this, people aren't employed in these industries and the money does not recycle back into the economy. It does absolutely **** all for anyone whilst it is buried 6 foot under the ground. I say we need to invest in shovels and re-train the unemployed to dig holes in the ground to recover some of this lost money....money that has been lost to the economy forever. Obviously having a low tax economy means that no other business in their right minds would relocate their HQ operations to the UK as they would much prefer to pay higher taxation elsewhere. You see, for me, the only way to create wealth is to raise taxes. -
I agree that in this age of Google, we now have access to information that can be dubious and even dangerous in the wrong hands. However, BTF posts something from wikileaks (a known reliable source?) regarding the term being coined from the Daily Mail when in fact the term is global and has been around for some time and no-one says anything. I post something equally as dubious and you get your knickers in a twist. I am certainly not anti-semitic (believing in the state of Israel) and didn't spot that take in the article. I thought he made reference to them leaving Germany as a result of Hitler taking over, which I don't read as anti-semetic, as many Jews left Germany in the 1930's. That's not racism, just a fact and if I was Jewish would have left myself. I would suggest that the article is more anti-marxist than anything else. Perhaps I should take a closer look round that site in case I have missed something and therefore stand to be corrected if necessary. Whether or not the article is acurate or not, I don't know enough about the subject to comment to be fair (although some of it does sound a bit far fetched) and only posted it to stir up debate. Having said this, PC is a weapon of the left and can be hypocritical when enforced particularly in the public sector. I personally am against all discrimination, incuding positive discrimination, whereas PC uses discrimination as a tool to fight descrimination. Surely there has to be a better way......

...and that's my point. Where does it stop? In fact, should everyone say nothing for the sake of not offending anyone?
