Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES
Johnny Bognor replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
To be fair, the whole region has been unstable for thousands of years. Last century, there were nearly 100 conflicts between 1900-2000, many of them not involving the west. The bible draws reference to many a conflict and the Quran was compiled in the midst of war and conflict. So let's not pretend that all the regions ills are down to the wicked west. At the end of the day, even the Romans struggled to keep a lid on things in the region of peace LOL -
I've just invested in some N95 particulate respirator masks and rubber disposable gloves. Could be some easy money to be made here...

Britain's Next Top Prime Minister - Labour Leadership Election 2020.

Isn't borrowing shed loads of cash now, only for our kids and grand kids to pay it back, not an "I'm alright jack" attitude??? -
Only when they don't know their own self worth and need to cling to a framed degree certificate to feel good about themselves
-
And Branson is dyslexic, so they really do put the academic-achiever-real-life-under-achiever types to shame. No wonder they're so bitter
-
Indeed. I bet Richard Branson, Alan Sugar et al regret not going on to do Media Studies at Uni, a Masters in Quantum Physics or a Doctorate in political sciences. I bet they're crying their eyes out on there multi million pound super yatchs I think those that do well academically, but fail to turn their academic successes into real world successes, are probably the most bitter and arrogant of all. Their academic achievements give them a sense of self worth, even if they've got **** all to show for it. At least Gavyn turned his academic success into something tangible, so fair play to him.

I'm still a bit undecided about my vote direction this coming Thursday. I've obviously taken into consideration what I consider to be the following swaying points on the two main parties. On the one hand the Conservative Boris Johnson is a bit of a rascal with the ladies and can sometimes bend the truth a bit, he’s also a bit posh. And on the other hand.. Labours Jeremy Corbyn… Invited two IRA members to parliament two weeks after the Brighton bombing. Attended Bloody Sunday commemoration with bomber Brendan McKenna. Attended meeting with Provisional IRA member Raymond McCartney. Hosted IRA linked Mitchell McLaughlin in parliament. Spoke alongside IRA terrorist Martina Anderson. Attended Sinn Fein dinner with IRA bomber Gerry Kelly. Chaired Irish republican event with IRA bomber Brendan MacFarlane. Attended Bobby Sands commemoration honouring IRA terrorists. Called Hamas “serious and hard-working“. Attended wreath-laying at grave of Munich massacre terrorist. Attended conference with Hamas and PFLP. Photographed smiling with Hezbollah flag. Attended rally with Hezbollah and Al-Muhajiroun. Repeatedly shared platforms with PFLP plane hijacker. Hired aide who praised Hamas’ “spirit of resistance“. Accepted £20,000 for state TV channel of terror-sponsoring Iranian regime. Opposed banning Britons from travelling to Syria to fight for ISIS. Defended rights of fighters returning from Syria. Voted against banning support for the IRA. Voted against the Prevention of Terrorism Act three times during the Troubles. Voted against emergency counter-terror laws after 9/11. Voted against outlawing the glorification of terror. Voted against control orders. Voted against increased funding for the security services to combat terrorism. So it’s a tricky one really

EDIT

It's only "free" to those who don't pay tax or contribute to government coffers. Otherwise it is a pre-paid service...

48... so its a big gap. They often state the half your age plus seven rule is what is socially acceptable, so one should probably not go below 30, but here we are and we've been together for over a year
-
Talking to my girlfriend, who's half my age, getting that blank vacant look.... as if WTF am I talking about LOL
-
If we don't like the election result, can we call for a re-run? That's how democracy works nowadays

But these conditions only relate to the 11% of companies who export to the EU. Leaving the other 89% to become more competitive on the global stage. Currently, 100% of UK businesses have to comply with rules, whilst only 11% benefit from exporting to the EU
-
And reduce our global carbon footprint. Brexit to save the world!!!!
-
In the context of Brexit, ending free movement of people, will certainly help in reducing carbon emissions from Transport. Importing less products and going home-grown or home-produced, will certainly help too. Could one argue, that remainers are in fact, contributing to the destruction of the planet?

The industry are already making that decision. Mercedes to stop developing combustion engines... https://electrek.co/2019/09/19/daimler-stops-developing-internal-combustion-engines-to-focus-on-electric-cars/

The invention of the wheel killed millions of jobs, but ultimately we are better off for it. As did the steam engine. It wasn't that long ago that people worked 6 day weeks. If automation brings about a better work/life balance, then so be it. Companies that have trialled 4 day weeks have found that productivity increased.
-
4 day weeks are coming whether JC and the Labour party have it as a policy or not. The rise in automation will replace the work people do, faster than new jobs will be created. So there will be less work for all of us. Companies that are already trialling 4 day weeks, claim that this increases productivity. It wouldn't work for all businesses, but it can work for some. Managed properly, it could work

The United Kingdom and the Death of Boris Johnson as we know it.

Oh, but when it comes to the EU, you can. The Irish said NO. Quite clearly. Millions were spent on EU propaganda and the Irish voted Yes, second time round The French were specifically asked "Do you approve the bill authorizing the ratification of the treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe? The French said NO. Quite clearly. But the French people were ignored, as were the Dutch So we won't leave the EU. It will never be allowed. As for the will of the people, it clearly doesn't matter, as history has shown It's like the Hotel California. You can check out, but you can never leave -
One of the upsides of Brexit is that whilst the politicians are embroiled in the political mess, they pretty much leave the country to get with things unhindered. And we are doing OK with wages growth at the highest level for over 10 years and unemployment continuing to fall... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-49646201

I like the childish names. They are a term of endearment. And it's better to be talked about, thank ignored. Consider it a privilege that someone will take time out of their busy schedule to name check you. I'm quite honoured tbf (especially as I haven't been around much in the last year or so)

The LSE wasn't the birthplace of UKIP.... Rather one of their professors (Alan Sked) saw the light and formed what we now know as UKIP whilst being a lecturer there. Presumably Sked saw the light before he was placed on the EU payroll His colleagues dont like him, very much... were quite abusive at a recent reunion... no surprise really... https://ukandeu.ac.uk/brexit-and-universities/
