I too have been living in Chichester for the last 25 years and can concur. The local skates were and still are a nasty bunch. I used to prefer local nights out in Bognor as there was less agro with them.

*****Pompey Boardroom Exclusive*****
Johnny Bognor replied to Johnny Bognor's topic in The Muppet Show
Thank you for the comments. References to Corpy and SWF have been removed, the title has been changed and hence the old movie has been deleted, the new one is available here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bT_DZuT8euw The old one got over 1600 views in 24 hours and considering there are only 600 views on this thread, I can only assume that the rest have come from the Blue Few. Happy Days! -

I had to think about their legends and was reminded of the recent pompey "legends" tour of their stadium, featuring the one and only VH. -

OK, fair doos. But it doesn't change my point which is that just because something is law, it doesn't make it right. In a democracy, the chances are that it will be more "right" than in your average communist regime.
-
You are right there St George. The good people of China overwhelmingly voted for their government, so who am I to question the will of the Chinese people? Just because some fascist dictator or totalitarian communist regime makes the law in any given country, does not make it 'right'. All governments make good laws and they make bad laws - some right and some wrong. As it happens, the German people voted for Adolf Hitler, so does that make exterminating 7 million Jews right? Of course not and therefore a law in any country (even in the UK) is not necessarily 'right' just because it is law.

Only a tool (who happens to be running - in the loosest sense of the word - our country) would stand in Parliament and pretend that he could. From your response, I guess you have him down as a Liar.

This is an extract from his first pre-budget report: "For 40 years our economy has an unenviable history, under governments of both parties, of boom and bust. So, against a background of mounting uncertainty and instability in the global economy, we set about establishing a new economic framework to secure long-term economic stability and put an end to the damaging cycle of boom and bust". In the 2006 budget, he said: "As I have said before Mr deputy speaker: No return to boom and bust". In his last budget as chancellor, Brown said "we will never return to the old boom and bust". You can dress this up however you like, but the context and implication is that there would be no bust going forward.........which was followed by the biggest bust in history. He is still either a fool or a liar IMO It's all encapsulated here: Oh and in case you missed it:

Heard the joke about a welshman, irishman and a tax man?????

Not sure about that, more a case of not being truthful with the economics. Don't worry BTF, "I'm out" metaphorically (in a Dragon's Den kind of way - before anyone gets the wrong end of the stick).

Come on, keep up http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=546187&postcount=80

If you add in the fact that in our "boom" (fuelled by consumer debt, not by the merits of socialism), the growth in our economy was higher than in many of the rest and as such we should have been in a better position to face this economic crisis - i.e we shouldn't have needed to borrow as much as we have, but what do you expect with our glorious leader and his interpretation of the word "prudence"? Either he believed in "no more boom and bust" or he didn't. Either way, this either makes him a fool or a liar and for this reason - I'm out.

Pompey issued with winding up petition...
Johnny Bognor replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in General Sports
From the BBC News business site: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8434987.stm Portsmouth Football Club has been issued with a winding up petition by HM Revenue & Customs, the BBC has learned. The petition was presented on 23 December but a full court hearing will not take place until February. If the club is unable to strengthen its financial position by then, the club could be declared bankrupt. Portsmouth has been the subject of much takeover speculation and has reportedly been unable to pay some player wages -
Me? Make a mistake? That is not possible

Mad isn't it? We release a convicted terrorist found guilty of 'murdering' the passengers on that Pan Am flight on the grounds that he was at death's door? Is he dead yet? No, didn't think so. Perhaps, the hand over of that lad to the US was done to placate the septics after releasing the pan am bomber?????

I have some sympathy with your view here, as this chap was not the first Brit to smuggle drugs into China. 'We' do have form here..... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opium_Wars
