I think the way Premier League has gone in the last few years and the general widening of finances between clubs clouds this view. I've followed Saints for nearly 50 years and last season was my favourite since that 89 season with "4 up front". So very few seasons between, were we ever really going to challenge for much? How many times did we get to the cups and it's all "We have to prioritise the league" Last season we were chasing promotion and went up on the final day at Wembley!!! For those of us who just want to see our team be in contention for things, whatever division, it was a great year 🙂

One thing for certain, he gives confidence to the defence and comes for what a keeper should. He gives us a little more stability and has maybe forced us to look for a longer ball on occasions which pins the other team back a little more. It was a controversial call to throw him in over Lumley, but seems to have been a wise one. (So far)☺️

In my nearly 50 years of following Saints, I don't think I've ever been more disappointed over a team selection 😕

What I find interesting is that Leicester, who many pundits predict to be up there competing for Champions league again, will be playing with 1 half of our recent defence 🤔
