Best I have had and which I pine for now was from the Cider Bus at Glastonbury.Apparently it is there every year, they had medium sweet which was just luverrly, dry which wasn't and then in the evening when it got chilly they had Mulled Cider. That WAS the business. No idea who's cider it actually was, never could read that well by the time we made it there each day:-)

One small point of order. Sky don't have any world-wide viewing. The FA sells the rights to different parts of the world. So that in Asia you have Murdoch with his Star Network out of Hong Kong, Showtime here in ME, DST in SA etc. The increased value of those rights are part of the reason the money went up to the clubs this year. Showtime for example have Rob McAffrey (ex SSN) and a full-on studio with imported "guest" each week as well as an Arabic commentray crew. They show EVERY PL game live. HTH

I went to one game during the Branfoot era and it was like watching somebody else play on a pin-ball machine. After that went back and played Saturday afternoon football until he went and we started to play football again. I understood his thinking - it worked for Wimbledon - just that it was the most short sighted and stupid thinking possible and showed a lack of understanding of what we stood for as a club post Ale-House Brawler days

Hmmmm. A vacancy eh? How does one apply????..... No pay just a bonus when successful..... Out of interest, what's the difference between that and a "bung"....

Some people think it will launch an era of time travel. Better get someone over there so he can go back and stop the reverse takeover. I'm happy that you lot are MUCH closer to it. You'll just get vapourised instantly. As for us down here we'll simply be instantly vapourised

We're always out of kilter with you lot 'cos our weekend is Friday & Saturday Thursday night - went to pub for dinner and then spent evening watching mate try and pull South Africa air hostess Tonight - go down pub and spend the night hearing what my mate's night was like last night with said hostie Saturday - go to par 3 with my two lads and try and show them how bad i am at golf, then try and find a pub showing the England game No music or entertainment in the pubs (except footie on telly) as it is Ramadan. At least the pubs are open for booze in the evening unlike Abu Dhabi which goes dry for a month

Yep but can they HURRY UP!!!! It's not long to the January window and we could do with an MLT2 in the second half of the season. Guys - stop practising and start producing!

Hmmm So through reasoned debate (how weird is THAT on here) It would seem that it is the FA who run the PL who agreed the split on TV revenues who are ruining the game. A bunch of faceless suits elected by other faceless suits riding a rich ivory towered gravy train of "I'm an important person-ess" into the ground. The guys charged with looking after the game are the ones who managed to destroy it. Makes the lunatics who took over our asylum look like amateurs. Well done chaps, good job.. (oh and that's WITHOUT mentioning the other thing they are supposed to run - the England Team)

Maybe we should clone Micky & Matt's DNA together oops No that won't work we'd just get a fat lazy windmill arm 3

Ah ha... Revived from previous false dawns from MB. If the deal doesn't go through this Friday (today) then we don't have to worry about any more Fridays after Wednesday next week. (allegedly) http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/main.jhtml?view=DETAILS&grid=&xml=/earth/2008/09/05/scilhc105.xml

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2683195/Profile-Amanda-Staveley-the-new-Queen-of-British-football.html Hmmm seems others have noticed her new power in the world as well. I blame the OLD board. We got Keith Harris when we should have had Amanda. (cue nasty tasteless jokes about hands, Orville, hands up and stuff, but of course not from me) I do hope she fails with the Liverpool thing though, wouldn't want to be stuck in the middle of a Dubai V Abu Dhabi p*ssing contest where we used to have football

There is nothing wrong with Sky's involvement in football, EXCEPT for the fact that it pumps TOO much money into too few clubs. Football is a pyramid and needs to have the hope of movement upwards, not just for the fans and smaller clubs but also for the players. If you starve the pyramid, eventually you starve the smaller clubs and they are unable to develop the players that the upper levels need. I don't want a "communist style" system, simply a larger percentage share should be re-distributed downwards. It is ludicrous that Darlington should earn 500k from their playoff games and that becomes enough money to completely re-build their squad and to survive for another year, when, thanks to tv money, Lampard earns that in just over 3 weeks and saggy allegedly earns that in one deal

Damned if he didn't answer the questions and damned if he did. Who'd want to run a football club......... Look on the bright side, MW did the talking, not Rupert. (not much of a bright side but..)

Oh come on peeps. Takeovers by multi millionaires is SOOOOOOoooooo last year. If it ain't a trillionaire we just don't want to know and it'll have fook all effect on them tbh

Is the Premiership the promised land for the Saints?
dubai_phil replied to Long Shot's topic in The Saints
One thing that would be interesting is to ask the question Would you prefer to scrape around the bottom reaches of the PL with a bunch of bought in mercenaries and making do with a "local man's millions", and with no real sense of direction OTHER than just surving and hoping for an occassional result against a big team. OR Would you like to do what we (SEEM) to be doing now which is to build our own team, from the ground up (and yes bring in foreign youngsters but not over the hill types), aim to be better each year and eventually be back in the PL with a team that we fell an affinity with. For me it would be the latter every time. Unfortunately I have no real idea if 1) It would be possible or 2) we wouldn't be spoiled by the increased wages we'd be paying the youngsters when they get that whole "I'm a PL player" attitude -

Actually, what you REALLY need is a TAKEOVER. You get to retire and leave the problems to the new guys Unless of course you enjoy what you're doing....... or the recession means nobody wants a construction company these days..... -

If you're not that busy or have spare subbies, maybe you could pop down here for some overtime? We're a bit short of construction chappies at the moment... (They all keep falling off the buildings or being buried under the cement pouring machines.) -
We get seasonally affected disorder down here as well. We have the SAD summer and the happy winter. We have to stay in doors all summer 'cos it's 50 degrees and humid and horrid, so we all have to spend all day making your weather worse by having our A/C's on all day. This then means the little world's we live in are all "de-humidified" so we spend ALL summer with sinuses bunged up with dried out snot. You can often spot a Middle East resident in Europe in the summer, they need a jack hammer to pick their noses. Sounds daft but when your total "outdoor experience" is limited to getting into a car that is 70C due to sitting in the sun and then you are really limited to hanging around shopping malls if you fancy a little stroll. Of course in the winter time it's happy clappy land, 28-34 degrees, but then the sea gets too bloody cold at a freezing 24 degrees. (Although it HAS been noticed that this summer despite having one - you are JOKING day at 53C on the car temp sensor - this summer has been both less hot and less humid than most previously. usually at this time of year the car windscreen steams up with the humidity if you run the A/C, it noticeably hasn't happened yet this year. One other impact is that the "Jetstream" movement has made it take a lot longer to fly from East to West than usual, but has made it quicker for us to get home.)

That's two red cards. One for not giving the tw*t a slap for not knowing we don't have THAT sort of thing here (unless ....) and two for not pm'ing us up and having a Bullfrog :-) -
gosh daal it, missed that one
