  1. Don't know about bombs being alive, but remember the talking bomb in Dark Star.... Meanwhile, be careful what you post or someone in the Pakistani tribal lands will claim it was planted by the Al Queerda guys
  2. Nope, I'll stick with the fact he was great, until we found someone better:-) Would you pick a great shot stopper or have a midfielder in goal who could pass?:-) Also the fact he played got me to be able to see more games so that was great. Won't class him as a legend though:-) That's reserved for Niemi, and Paul Smith's 15 mins of fame for his save from whoever it was....
  3. At the top of his game Jones was a great keeper. Where he let himself down was his kicking/distribution. But Niemi was one of those keepers who just looked like he filled the entire goal which Jones never seemed to. Also according to my missus at the time Jones had a much nicer arse, not usually a criteria but it did mean I got to go to footie more often as she wanted to go there instead of shopping:-)
  4. Yes, certainly I would. And I would react the same way if it was Daniel Craig, David Tennat, Jade Goody Boris Jokeson, Richard Branson, EVEN dear departed Chorley or any other person in the public eye at THIS time of problems with fuel bills being all over the national media. It wasn't the right thing to do. Personally I don't give a fook that it was Dyer, I just think the Radio Station and the "celeb" were EQUALLY unwise and SHOULD have made much better mileage from the PR opportunity.
  5. Allegedly all that jumping around in the technical area was nothing to do with coaching, more with withdrawal symptoms
  6. Hmm. So don't want a profile person who comes in and brings enough money and pzazz to the club so the better youngsters don't have to be sold and we can attract even better ones here for next season Perhaps Ashley or Fulthorpe (lol) would be a better bet then? (I actually agree the concept though, who wants to be a media circus? but again reality bites these days..)
  7. Fantastic, thanks for the link, now us TSW'ers can get back to a real life - we can make a post, go away and work for the day and come back 24 hours later to see the reply... How many posts a day they get? :-)
  8. Why do we need scouts overseas to sign up Brooklyn???... We have Tijuana Tim on the job for us in that part of the world - maybe he could cut TSW in as a part agent so we get the fees:-) TT = get on with it!
  9. Well we were divided about SCW and the whole sports science thing, but this one made me chortle this morning. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/2697032/Chaos-theory-on-flight-of-new-footballs.html Seems that we have been wrong to criticise KD and other keepers too much of late, and we have OBVIOUSLY underestimated Ronaldo's IQ. Seems you have to be an advanced mathematician/physicist these days to play in goal, Chaos theory ffs? I thought chaos theory in football was GB's selection & team talk before a game at SMS
  10. Ah the old LLS business plan eh? lol

    Killer

One of the criticisms I had heard of Burley was that he did not like strong personalities, he had a "conflict aversion" mentality. No idea if true or not, BUT it WAS reflected in the type of players we signed under him, our team of the last couple of years was short on personalities and we totally lacked a LEADER on the pitch. With the new set up, somebody with experience on the pitch is worth it's weight in gold and Killer fits that role. What I think we saw against Blackpool is that JP will need to be slghtly more aware of our opposition strengths and to make minor adjustments to our team on a particular day. Against teams with pace up front then a Perry & Killer / Gillett & Spiderman combination in the centre may not be what we need, and EITHER Cork comes in, maybe alongside Killer or Wotton in as DM to help cover, cut down the space and the through balls over the top.
  12. Correct. My point is actually that anybody on 250k a year and who is in the public eye is out of order taking 25 quids worth of free petrol PUBLICLY from anyone, let alone a crap radio station. Anyone with an ounce of understanding for PR or their importance in society would, in this current time of hardship to ordinary people over fuel costs have turned this around, the story would be bigger for both the person AND the radio station by, for example offering the prize to another driver, THEN offering to "fill up the car" for that winner and being photographed while doing it. I'd make the same point whether it was Dyer, JP, Rupes or some local entrepreneur. We've seen enough posters on here pointing out the problems the UK is facing, that 25 quid could have let some retired folks on state pension go out on a trip to see family or friends for a day (or just get in your way on a Sunday afternoon). I actually thought that one of the roles of our academy was to teach the youngsters this exact sort of thing.
  13. To be honest, somebody SOMEWHERE should give him a roasting (sic) for this There's a massive recession going on, a Radio station plays a cheap publicity stunt (not good either) and then a rich kid brat upsets people who may just have needed a bit of help. Football is an entertainment BUSINESS, it is supposed to have an image. Well done Nathan. Oh and it was Power FM, I suppse that makes him a cheapskate
  14. He could get away woth spouting that nonsense to the two guys and their dog who turned up at our press conferences (well Cope & The Echo) but the National Press in Jockland ain't gonna take it for long. How many games in a row has he lost?.........4 And the record is?
  15. Can't be arsed.
  16. Ah the old rain break trick, always a good one to use when playing a Brit in an important tennis match. We all know what happens next don't we :-)
  17. Yep. But SURELY not while sitting in the Red Lion:-)
  18. Thank fook I didn't bother to go down to the pub to watch surrounded by loads of Johnny Foreigner types all taking the p*ss out of the first half
  19. Good point, I'd also noticed that the number and turn over of threads is pretty slow as well these days. Stuff hangs around longer than the old takeover threads. Occassionally we get some new views popping up and then vanishing again. I can't believe it is only about the fiver though, may also be something in the fact that circumstances have conspired to give us some football we are enjoying and it's still too ealry to panic and argue about results, so we have this weird scenario where everyone basically agrees with what everyone else says all the time. Give it a few more weeks and we can get back to being true Saints fans and moaning and the numbers will be back up, nobody watches News at Ten to hear GOOD or HAPPY things :-)
  20. lol at this, just made my day
  21. The problem I have with both Saints AND England at the moment is simple - the bl**dy pub. You see here in Dubai, being so multi-cultural, you go to the pub to watch an England game and 60% of the people AREN'T English. You go and watch Saints and 98% ain't fans. And of course we all know what happens to Saints when we are on the Telly, and so for us to go out and watch an England game it normally means "a big one" and of course, what happens. So in recent years although ex-pats actually become FAR more "patriotic" than the folks at home, the "going to watch the England game" question is always met with a shrug of the shoulders and knowledge that you'll have some loud mouthed Dutchie/kraut/Frog/Russkie giving you grief when you miss those penalties again. And as for Saints in the pub....arrggghhh you don't even get abuse, just that look of sympathy normally reserved for those with special needs. So no, couldn't give a toss about the games on telly. BUT a trip to the World Cup or Euros to actually WATCH them live, now THAT is special, especially post '98 since most of the thugs have been moved on
  22. :-) Oh don't get all upset, but you see the problem, the pro's will read your reading and you end up the person to blame:-))))
  23. Oh that works. Pre-released questions sorted and filtered. Pre-released answers sorted and filtered, then a precis delivered by a fan (although a long term poster) which can then lead to great amounts of debate and argument and hardening of positions. On an interpretation. Nice idea Nick, but would just not be worth wasting the time. Let's wait for the Echo to wake up to the fact that not EVERY Saints fan lives in Southampton these days and relies on their web site for things like this :-)
  24. Well FWIW I think I have an answer Rupert will come up with investment before Fulthorpe & Co.......... Which I believe is probably THE most damming comment I could come up with regards the "consortium"
